John Anthony Gubera, Jr.

January 20, 1955 - May 12, 2003

 

JOHN A. GUBERA JR. passed away May 12, 2003. He was born on January 20, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo. John attended public schools in Kansas City, Cleveland and graduated from Westchester High School in Houston.

John began a career in the forest industry after obtaining his BS in forestry from Texas A&M in 1977. He worked in the East Texas woods for a number of years before returning to Texas A&M for an MBA. After obtaining his MBA in finance John moved to Midland to start his career in banking. He also worked in the banking industry in Dallas and Houston. After returning to Houston, John began a career in sales. Most recently John was self-employed in advertising sales.

John was an avid sportsman and enjoyed introducing others to his love of the great outdoors, especially his nieces and nephews. He was known to one and all as "Uncle John".

John leaves behind his mother, Patricia Gubera of Houston; a sister, Theresa Arnold, of Richmond; and three brothers, Thomas Gubera of Chesapeake, Va., James Gubera, of Houston and Michael Gubera of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and a host of adoring nieces and nephews.

The funeral service at St. John Vianney Catholic Church will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 16th, with a reception to follow immediately after the service.
