Trudy Ann Nonmacher of Katy, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 70. Trudy was born on June 14, 1955, in Lafayette, Louisiana to William T. and Barbara C. Lewis. She grew up in a home filled with family and laughter alongside her sisters Tami Lewis and Teri Pulliam, and she carried that devotion, joy, and kindness with her throughout her life, bringing Cajun lagniappe with her to Texas.
A proud graduate of Westchester High School’s Class of 1973, Trudy later found her soulmate in John Nonmacher, and on May 24, 2002, they married, joining their families with warmth and hospitality. Whether working side-by-side at Nonmacher’s, welcoming customers who always left as friends, or traveling near and far, Trudy and John shared an enduring bond that remained evident, even after John’s passing.
Trudy was many things to many people: a devoted wife, a loving mother and stepmother, a proud Nonnie and great-grandmother, a sister, and a friend to countless others. She adored her children—Michael Masor and wife Lindsey, Matthew Masor and wife Rachel, and stepdaughter Kristi Martin and husband Rick. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her cherished grandchildren—Luke, Samuel, Max, Mackenzie, Bailey, and Conner—and her great-granddaughter, Averie. Her home and wallet were filled with family pictures, allowing for visuals to accompany her proud stories of their accomplishments.
With her warm smile… sometimes closer to a mischievous smirk, infectious laugh, and remarkable ability to make anyone feel like family, Trudy truly never met a stranger. She had a gift for turning simple gatherings into memorable occasions, often centered around her love for cooking and sharing meals. Long before the word “foodie” became popular, Trudy delighted in exploring new restaurants, savoring flavors, and celebrating the joy that food could bring when shared with others. The comfort of her red beans and rice will always be remembered, though it will never truly be replicated.
Trudy was always outdoors, enjoying the sunshine, hosting friends, and helping keep Nonmacher’s BBQ the beloved place it came to be. Those who knew her will always remember her genuine kindness, radiant smile, and unwavering love for her family.
Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, John Nonmacher, her father, William T. Lewis, and her mother, Barbara C. Lewis. While her absence will be felt deeply, her spirit will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know and love her.
