Mike was one of the kindest people in the world. He was my best friend in high school and we roomed together for 2 years in college. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Mike was a great buddy from the time my family moved into the Nottingham Forest subdivision in 1968, along with Tom Slagle and Bob Nigel.  Lots of great memories of neighborhood fun during those formative years, with special memories of neighborhood football games against other neighborhoods. Once, we all snuck into Tully Stadium and played a big cross-neighborhood rivalry game... you could get away with stuff like that back then.

His parents were always especially welcoming and generous during my frequent visits to their home.  I just know Mike's family and children reflect that same warmth of the Mapes family.  He'll be missed by all who knew him.

Mike was my high school boyfriend. He was 100% supportive and was so nice to my family and friends. On one of our first dates, I was late (!) coming downstairs, and he sat on the couch and pet our dog. Mike stole mom's heart by loving the dog. He was clever and witty; he managed to see through things pretty fast. He was great at satire, which is a skill I was slow in developing. He loved his Mustang and tried to manage all the repairs. He was very bright. Mike freely gave to his friends and loved ones and I wish his sons to have all the strengths that Mike had. I wish peace and grace to all those that loved Mike and miss him. "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:5

Mike was my first and probably best friend beginning when I moved into Nottingham Fores in 8th gradet.  His house was 100 yards from my front door. We remained close through college and into our careers.   He was always kind and thoughful and all a friend could be.  He was one of the smartest people I ever knew.  He was  a really outstanding lawyer during the years he practiced. We drifted apart as we got older and our lives begin to diverge.  . I hope he had all the joy and happiness he deserved.  He was a rare person - good and kind and thoughtful throughout his life for everyone around him.  He will be missed.
