Steve Ramsey Receives the Fighting Wildcat Award for the 1972 Football Season
Really great guy. Played baseball with him in the middle school years and watched him become not only an outstanding defensive back on the football varsity but a true star on the baseball varsity that went to state a couple of times with players from our class (David Clyde, of course, going straight to the pros, but also Jim Lassiter and Mark Horner playing for TCU). Steve played shortstop for the Wildcats and not only sprayed line drive doubles in the alleys constantly, but had a cannon for an arm to complement his slick fielding. The Baltimore Orioles drafted him in the 10th round right after our graduation, but his career was cut short with his death in an auto accident.
