Philip Richard Moseley - Class Of 1975

Philip Richard Moseley

June 5, 1957 - May 19, 2024

My name is Lisa Schmidt Mosely. I am so sorry to post my husband of 41 years Philip Mosely passed away May 19, 2024 while playing disc golf with his best friend Paul James.

Philip Richard Moseley was born June 5 th , 1957 in San Angelo, Tx and passed away May 19, 2024.

In 1965 he relocated to Houston with his parents John and Pat, and sister Joanna. Phil and his sister were raised in a loving Christian home which inspired a strong dedication to his faith in God and family. Phil attended public schools on the west side of Houston where he made lifelong friends and flourished in band and sports.

When Phil was 16 years old, he became active in trampoline where he quickly advanced and ranked 8th in the in the world in Jr. Olympics. Phil went on to become a high diver at Astroworld. While attending the University of Texas at Austin he met his future wife, Lisa Schmidt who he married in 1983.

Phil was an amazing drummer. He and his friends formed a band and played in the Houston club scene for 9 years. In 1998, Phil and Lisa moved back to Austin to raise their young boys. Phil became a senior designer in the transportation industry, but his greatest source of pride was watching his sons enter the world of music. Tyler followed his passion as a drummer and Travis emerged as a singer and front man for their own band. Phil and his former bandmates were thrilled to attend his boy’s recent performance and what an amazing night that was. Phil was absolutely beaming with pride.

Phil was preceded in death by his infant son, Collin Richard, and his beloved mother, Patricia Adams Moseley.

He is survived by his wife Lisa, sons Tyler and Travis, Father John Moseley, Sister Joanna Thompson (Steve), Marty Schmidt, Randy Schmidt (Becky), Debbie Parsley (Blayne), Kerry McFarland, Greg Kieschnick (Laura), Sam Patterson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phil is also survived by his long-time best friends and former bandmates Paul James, Art Drouin, Dennis Meyer and Chip Castro.

Phil will be remembered for his love of music (especially his son’s), disc golf, his hilarious sense of humor and infectious laugh. Please bring your happy memories and fun stories of Phil to share during his service or online.

His celebration of life was held at Memorial United Methodist Church, 6100 Berkman Drive, Austin, Texas 78723 on Saturday, June 1st at 11:30 am. BBQ and fellowship followed after the service.

Clayton Andrew Fox (1975)

I was sad to learn of Philip's passing.  He and I became better aquainted when we shared a hospital room at Memorial City Hospital in the summer between our Junior and Senior years.  He was in horrible head traction for fracturing his upper neck in a trampoline accident and I was in for a broken ankle (skydiving).  The nurses called ours the "Wild World of Sports" room.  He and I would laugh at WHS when we saw each other after about that.  Was sure glad that he made it thru recovery ok from that ordeal that he went thru that summer.  My condolences to Philip's wife Lisa and sons.  I will always remember him as my hospital roommate friend.
