She worked for Williamson County for many years. She loved her son and daughter-in-law, enjoyed gardening, and treasured her dogs. She was also close to her step-daughter, Gayla Reynolds, and her family.
Marilyn Ann Vitek Cavender, passed away on January 10, 2016. A memorial service will be held 10AM, Thursday, January 14th at Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown, Texas.
Marilyn was born on June 17, 1957 in Houston, where she grew up before attending The University of Texas in 1975. She was a longtime Georgetown resident and Executive Assistant at the Williamson County Clerks' Office for over 20 years. That was her job, and she was good at it, but her strongest vocation was being a mother. For nearly 30 years, she navigated the shoals of divorced parenthood with determination and grace, selflessly devoting herself to providing for, loving and supporting her son Perry and step-daughter Gayla.
Although a quiet, unassuming woman by nature, Marilyn earned many loyal friends with her good humor and easy-going demeanor. She was a caring, accepting woman whose tender heart was always open to those who needed to feel loved and welcomed. She also enjoyed her time at home, lavishing attention on her garden and her dogs.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Perry and his wife Caitlin; stepdaughter, Gayla Reynolds and her husband, Ronnie and grandchildren, Travis and Randon Reynolds; her sister Karen Gastler and her husband Leigh and nephews Joseph and Andrew and great-nephew, Josiah. She was preceded in death by her mother Enfield Vitek, father Joseph Vitek, and sister Sherry Vitek Dwiggins.
