Michael Jean Hacker, age 63, passed away on November 24, 2022. He was born on April 22, 1959 to Jean Ernst Hacker and Delores Darlene Hacker in Anacortes, Washington.
He spent his early years in New Jersey and California then moved to Houston, Texas in 1971. He graduated from Earlham College in 1981 with a degree in Psychology. He later earned his nursing degree.
In the early 90's Mike spent several years serving the poor through the Peace Corps working in both Liberia and Paraguay. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Public Administration at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi in 2005. He was employed for 15 years by the City of Corpus Christi Health Department starting as a Nursing Supervisor, then promoted to Nursing Director. His recent employment was for the State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of Inspector General as a Nurse Reviewer for 11 years.
Mike married his wife, Mirasol of 26 years on September 28, 1996 in Cebu, Philippines. Mike was a loving husband, father, son, brother and nephew. He enjoyed music from some of the greatest songwriters, such as The Beatles, Neil Young, and James Taylor, while also appreciating classic rock artists, such as ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin. He will be forever remembered for his passion for traveling, love for music, and sense of humor.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Jean Hacker; mother, Darlene Hacker; sister, Kathy Jo; grandfather, Ernst Hacker; and grandmother, Esther Hacker Wagner.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mirasol Hacker; daughter, Maristelle Co; son, Benjamin Hacker; daughter, Rachel Hacker; sister, Susan; brother in law, Jerry Smith and aunt, Jane Wagner.
A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the Seaside Funeral Home & Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm with the Liturgy of the Word to follow. Services will conclude in the chapel.

Mike was a gentle soul. I remember many happy times visiting his house near Memorial Junior High over the years listening to music and comedy albums. I think Mike had read every MASH book by Richard Hooker.
