In Memory

Richard "Rick" Dominic Gilbert - Class Of 1978

Richard Dominic Gilbert

November 29, 1959 - November 22, 2020

Caldwell, Texas

With a heavy heart Rick passed peacefully on 11/22/2020. Rick was always the first to contact me with news of anyone passing or needed help but not this time. He was such a loving and kind person and always wanted to be of help.

He took great pride in being a part of the Salt Grass Trail Ride. Rick was a life-time member of Lazy 8 Wagon, a Teamster for them and Scouted several years representing Wagon 8 - Rid for the Brand. He also drove the Team for Wagon 14 and a member of Wagon 6 family. He was all over this ride and did it with a smile! Rick’s smile and laugh will forever be in my hearts. He will be missed in so many.

Rick was a retired deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trail riding. He was an avid animal lover. In his younger days, he was a competitive shooter with the IPSC matches.

Rick loved his family with all his heart. Risk’s sister, Linda and wife, Debbie Humphrey were with him when it was time to move on with his new life with our Lord. He fought so hard to stay here with us, but our Lord needed him more. I have no doubt Rick arrived with flying colors and is dancing with all the ladies. We believe Rick did a fly by on his way out and sent a double rainbow that stretched across his property in Caldwell, TX. It was such a blessing to witness this beautiful rainbow, hand sent from God and Rick to let all know he was rejoicing in Heaven.

Times are hard in this crazy world and comfort is what is needed. Please keep Debbie, his son’s JP, Logan; his sisters, Linda, Donna, all his family and his trail ride family in your thoughts and prayers.

Details of service or Celebration of life are pending. We will let everyone know as soon as we can.

Hey - reading through the names and facts of those who have died I see many who died in car accidents and fairly young.  Many died of illness.  Not all obits list a cause.

This description though - sounds like he may have died of Covid 19 pandemic illness.  If so, not sure why that would be made to be obscure.
