In Memory

Timothy Michael Harrington - Class Of 1978

Timothy "Tim" Michael Harrington

May 11, 1960 - February 11, 2024

On February 11th, 2024, Tim Harrington, 63, beloved brother, uncle and friend went to his heavenly reward with Jesus. He died from cardiac arrest.

He was the son of Colonel Michael Harrington, USMC (deceased) of Houston, Texas and Kathleen Harrington (deceased) of Morro Bay, California.

Tim graduated from Westchester High School in Houston in 1978. A proud lifelong Longhorn, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics in 1982.

Tim spent over 38 years in Austin commercial real estate where he structured over 800 office and industrial leases. He made every effort to provide his client tremendous value in their transactions. He was an Austin Business Journal Power Broker, a former Austin Commercial Real Estate Board Member and a life member of Texas Exes. He attended as many sporting events of his nephews and nieces as possible. He loved reading, playing golf, practicing yoga, and swimming at Barton Springs. His favorite kind of Saturday was spent at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, cheering on the Longhorns with friends. He especially loved spending time at Austin Ridge, where he found a special community amongst the parishioners.

Tim was many things to many people. If you were in need, he was the first to offer consolation. He literally would give you his last dollar. Always friendly, always engaging, Tim’s charm shone brightly in any setting. He was loved by his family and his friends.

Tim is preceded in death by his mother Kathleen; his father Colonel Michael Harrington, USMC; and his sister Shannon Hale Harrington (WHS 1975).

Tim is survived by his sister, Megan (Hutch) Bass (WHS 1976); his brother, Marc (Whitney) Harrington; his stepmothers and friends, Jeanne Harrington and Christine Harrington; his nephews and nieces, Davis (Alexandra) Bass, Lanham (Kathryn) Bass, Shannon Bass, Kalynn Harrington, and Garrett Harrington; his grandnephews, Harris, Miller and Hutch; his grandniece, Mackey; and many loving friends and colleagues.

The family thanks everyone who helped Tim over the years.

A memorial service will be held for Tim at Austin Ridge Bee Caves, 2 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to Austin Young Life.
