Jeffery Scott Newberry - Class Of 1975

Jeffery Scott Newberry

April 25, 1957 – May 21, 2021

 

Jeff was born in San Antonio on April 25, 1957 to parents Charles and Farris Newberry. He attended The University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1981. Jeff had a long successful career in telecommunication sales. Jeff became a licensed federal firearms dealer and founded Longhorn Firearms and Silencers in 2009. He was a Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer.

Jeff was active in charity work including being a long time supporter of Ducks Unlimited and the Texas Game Wardens. Jeff served as Treasurer and area chairman for the West Houston Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Jeff also supported Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery (PaRC) and was a member of the planning committee for the Annual Ride For Recovery. Jeff was a proud member of the Republican Party and served as Deputy Voter Registrar in West Houston. Jeff met the love of his life Sandy in 2004 and they married on February 26, 2005. Jeff loved riding his Harley motorcycle, watching the Houston Astros, fishing and playing with his dogs; Molly, Maggie and Bailey; and his cats; Star, Waylon and Willie. Jeff was known for his always present contagious smile and gracious attitude. He made a friend of everyone he met and would go out of his way for the people he loved. He will forever live on in the hearts of everyone he has touched.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Farris Newberry.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 16 years Sandy Newberry, son Chase Newberry and daughter Alex Minnick and husband Ray Minnick; grandchildren Micah Minnick; brother Steve Newberry and wife Kim Newberry with children Alex Newberry and Dillon Newberry.

A visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Houston. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery after the funeral mass. After the services, please join Sandy Newberry at her home in Magnolia for refreshments.
