Melanie Broussard Cox

Melanie was the third child born November 17, 1956 in Beaumont, Texas to Signora Syler and Richard Broussard. Her brothers Scott and Jules Broussard welcomed her into their home.

Melanie graduated from Stratford High School and did very well on the swim team. She attended Blinn College. She also loved going to Heart of the Hills Camp in Hunt, Texas. Melanie also took piano lessons.

As a child, Melanie had many happy memories with her grandmother, Johanna (BoBo) Schoolfield and her husband at the time, Curtis Walser at their beach house in Jamaica Beach, Galveston, Texas. Often joined by her Aunt, Fran Tarkington and daughter, Courtney Nyhuis, Melanie loved to fish, swim in the ocean, and play card games.

Melanie also enjoyed visiting her Aunt Jo and Uncle John Hill and her cousins Johannah, Kathy, John Henry and Ann Hill at Cypress Mill Ranch and at their beach house in Key Allegro, Rockport Texas. Melanie was also close to her great Uncle, Ed Walker and her grandfather, J.O. Scott, and her great Aunt, Tennie DeVore. She loved her family very much.

Melanie married Randy Cox and gave birth to Curtis Cox and Jessica Cox. She was a devoted, loving mother and the happiness of her children was very important to her. Melanie was involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. She also loved dogs and birds. She enjoyed collecting antiques. Melanie loved life.

Melanie is survived by her mother, Signora Syler, her two children, Curtis Cox and Jessica Cox, her brother Jules Broussard, and her nephews John Scott Broussard and Robert Francis Broussard. She leaves behind her dog Titan and her birds, one named CoCo Chanel.

Melanie was called to Heaven the night of Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 on the SuperMoon, when the full moon occurs on the same day that the moon is closest to earth at its orbit, called perigee.

Psalm 23:1-6
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death; I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Amen.
