Cynthia "Cindy" Jane Kripp Webster

CYNTHIA JANE KRIPP WEBSTER was 46 years old when she died suddenly on Sunday, September 12, 1999. She was born on October 2, 1952, in Sacramento, California, to June and Robert Kripp. She was the oldest of three daughters. The family lived in Long Beach, California, for most of Cynthia's childhood, and with the same determination that she attached to all she did in her life, she excelled in school, played the violin and the piano, and from an early age she displayed a flair for gourmet cooking and decorating. In 1965 the Kripp Family moved to Houston, Texas, where Cindy quickly earned a reputation as a capable student and star debater.
Cindy graduated Westchester High School in 1970 with highest honors, then she attended the University of Texas at Austin. She met her future husband on a train in England while backpacking through Europe with her college roommate during the Summer of 1975.
The apparent ease with which she created sumptuous meals and an imaginative home, even as she dedicated long hours to a fulfilling professional career, amazed all who observed her whirlwind energy and enjoyed her warm, gracious hospitality. Cindy and her husband, John, lived in John's native England for a short time before settling in Houston. Then when Cindy's career with Shearson Lehman took her to Manhattan, Cindy and John made the New York City area their home for more than a decade. In 1998, Cindy and John returned once again to Houston.
Cindy always had a book companion. She was a voracious reader with an insatiable curiosity, and her inexhaustible memory for historical data, especially on the subjects of American and English history, amazed and delighted those who knew her.
We remember, too, her compassion for anything with four paws, a warm fur coat and a wet nose. Tasha, Stevie, and P.C. (Prince Charles) were three of the most gloriously spoiled animals in canine history. Cindy's small stature belied the enormity of her capacity to love.
