Diane will be missed.  I grew up across the street from her and her family.  They were a wonderful family and good friends.

What a loss...I just discovered that Diane died of a brain aneurysm in 2004. She was so cute and so much fun. We had a lot of good times together during and after high school. I remember a lavish dinner (with drinks) on her dad's tab at the country club. Another time we went to see "The Three Musketeers" with Michael York, and afterwards went out and bought shirts with big billowy sleeves and talked with French accents. One year when her family went to Scotland she brought me back a precious little antique, hand-painted ceramic jar, which I still have in the bookcase in my room. That was Diane, and never a dull moment. I've learned that later she had a very successful career in advertising here in Houston. I wish I could have seen her again. She was a wonderful friend and I couldn't stand to see this space blank.

I have just seen the website for the first time today. When I saw my friend Diane Walling's name In Memoriam, I was stunned. I last saw Diane in Houston in the late 80s, but we lost touch in later years. We had lots of fun with her large family, riding in their gigantic station wagon off to Grosbeck, Texas, where we visited her grandmother and saw "Bonnie and Clyde" at the Grosbeck Theatre. We used to sit up on the roof at her house, listening to Rod Stewart's "Gasoline Alley" album and watching the world go by. Diane had lots of crazy costumes, including a real Indian sari, which she knew how to wrap. She was very adventurous, and once dove off a high bluff into a river on a dare. She was also an amazing ballet and modern dancer. On my 16th birthday, she took me to a health food restaurant down in the Montrose area for a surprise dinner and had them sing happy birthday to me. When we graduated, her Mother had a few girls over for a special dinner. Mrs. Walling had decoupaged our graduation invitations onto little oval frames so we could save them. Diane was a one of a kind lady. Our principal, Sherri Billing, once told me she thought Diane would lead an influential life.  I hope she is dancing out there somewhere. God go with you, Diney.
