It's not only the English who have a sense of humor.
The Scots do as well!

This cartoon originated in Scotland . It looks like most
of the world is laughing at our nation's leadership!

How sad that the world is laughing at the United States

while we sit by and watch and wonder what will happen next!

"This one nails it perfectly."

President Obama's approval ratings are so low now, the Kenyans

are accusing him of being born in the United States ....

Hi Class of '68.  As many of you know, Jimmy Tiller has been having some health issues and has been in the VA Hospital in Augusta.    Thanks to Pam Dudley for calling to let us know that he was in the hospital, and helping spead the word among classmates.

I spoke with Pam today, and she said he is doing much better.  He has moved out of the CCU into a regular room, and is hoping to come home in a few days.

Pam has been in touch with some of the family and said it is o.k. to post this info on our class site.   Please feel free to pass it along to other classmates you think may not check the site

We so appreciate Kathy Carter Campbell's daughter (a nurse in Augusta), visiting Jimmy when he was in CCU and conveying the thoughts, concern and prayers of the class to Jimmy!

The prayers will continue for him as he gets better every day!

Take good care friends.  You are forever in my heart.

connie

Very good to hear this. Thanks Connie, Pam and all others for making all this communication possible. Who would have guessed these possibilities 46 years ago?

Very, very happy to hear the good news that Jimmy is so much improved! Thanks for letting us know, Connie, and to Pam also. Yes, it was very sweet of Kathy's daughter to go by and see him. We, or at least y'all, are a good bunch of folks. Continue to get better, Jimmy.

MORE UPDATES:

-Linda Landers (David's wife) will be having knee surgery at St. Marys Hospital in Athens next Wednesday.   Know we will all want to remember her in prayers.

-It is a possiblity that Roy Stamey may be coming to Georgia for a few days in mid-March.   If it can work out with his time in this area, we may make some quick plans to get together one evening..    (like we did once at Loco's when David and Linda were going to visit from Texas).   Will post any info on this site and contact as many classmates as we can get in touch with to pass the word if plans are made.

-Hoping and praying for Jimmy Tiller's continued recovery.

At our October gathering here in Crawford, several of you volunteered to be "callers" to contact classmates when something comes up.   I apologize that I have not gotten the new lists typed and mailed out--- but I will try to do that soon!!!

Isn't it wonderful to be a part of a group of people that share a "history" and still care about each other, even after 40+years!!!!!

Will be  back in touch soon.   Please check this site regularly -- and remember that you can post messages here.   (thanks again Gary for having this for us!!)

If Roy does make the trip I think it would be a great idea to get togather.

Maybe a Sat. Night Dinner Date somewhere?!

David Landers called today to say that Linda's surgery went well.   She will be in the hospital for 3-5 days.  Will have physical therapy at home.

I have not heard any updates on Jimmy Tiller.   Sure hope he is improving daily.   If anyone knows any updates, please let us know.

Jim, Roy said he will let us know if the trip works out, and if there is a night he could meet..   Hopefully it will.

I've been terrible lately about checking in here. Just lazy I guess.

Thanks Connie and Kathy for letting us know about Jimmy. Though we haven't heard in several days, the last news that he was better was encouraging. I'm hoping it means he's home again.

Connie, thanks for letting us know about Linda Landers'  knee surgery. David, I'm happy the surgery went well. The therapy part will be so important. Let her know we wish her well!

Great news that Roy is thinking of making a trip home from Alaska! I hope y'all can get together during his visit. March is out for us. I have a trip to Colorado, and another to Illinois planned for March. It seems like a trip to GA keeps getting pushed forward. Now it may be late spring or early summer when we come. Roy, I hope you get to make the trip, and if so I hope you get to see LOTS of old friends!

It's 19 degrees right now at 6:50 a.m., and we're told to expect it to cold for the next several days. The snow finally went away in our warm 50 degree weekend sunshine, but now they say we could be in for more next Sunday and Monday. This is the time of year that I enjoy going "home", because the jonquils are blooming, and early Spring has arrived. I always feel like I get to have TWO springs when I see one back home, and then another up here about six weeks later. I do love the jonquils and daffodils.

Dick is in San Diego this week. He really enjoys what he does, but when the traveling starts like it has recently, he thinks harder about retiring. Of course this is not a bad time to be in San Diego instead of Ohio. Normally I would go with him, but I've been on the go so much since Dec. 1 that I have wanted to stay put for a spell and do the things I do here.

Y'all take good care of yourselves. Connie, thanks for being there to receive news from our friends, and then for passing it along to us. Gary, thanks for maintaining the site here. I'll try to check in more often.

Love to  all. Wishing I could see you.

Diane

My condolences go out today to Tereesa on the passing of her mother.

Helen Huff Stevens joined her husband, Robert Reese Stevens, in heaven on February 28, 2014. She was the daughter of Ed and Della Huff of Crawford, Georgia. Helen, known in her youth as 'Brownie', lived the majority of her life in Oglethorpe County. She was a World War II bride and she and Reese had a brief tour of duty in Boston, but returned to Oglethorpe County to raise their two daughters. She worked for Jefferson Mills and retired from the United States Post Office.
She was completely devoted to service in her church and community. She was a member of the Crawford United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for many years. She held various offices in the American Legion Ladies auxiliary and Oglethorpe County Chamber of Commerce. For decades she served the Oglethorpe County Board of Elections as a poll worker. Well into her eighties she volunteered at Quiet Oaks Healthcare "visiting the old folks" and was named Volunteer of the Year multiple times.
Her hands were never idle and always busy. As long as she was able, she crocheted, did needlework and crafts. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her girlfriends, but her favorite past-time was being with and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also well-known for her coconut pies, baked pimento cheese, boiled custard and ambrosia.
She is survived by her daughters Glenda Fincher and Tereesa Minish and beloved son-in-law Bob Fincher; grandchildren Sharell (Russell) Fincher Lewis, Lee (Kim) Fincher, Nikki (Kerry) Roberts and Natalie Johnson; great-grandchildren Alan Lewis, Blake Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Ashlee Fincher, Reese Duffell, Beau Fincher, Wright Duffell and Shaw Roberts.
Lord and Stephens East is handling the arrangements. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 2nd staring at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Lord and Stephens Chapel. The family will have a private internment service at Crawford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Crawford Perpetual Care for Maintenance Fund, PO Box 383, Crawford, GA 30630 or the Oglethorpe County Chamber of Commerce Depot Renovation, PO Box 56, Crawford, GA 30630.

Tereesa, me too. Dick and I were both sorry to learn about the loss of your Mama. Losing anyone we love is hard, but to say goodbye to our mamas is definitely one of the very hardest things we ever do. You are in our hearts and in our prayers.
