Diane, let us know how you like "Fireproof." I've heard good things about it too.

And Gary, I guess that Sherron "waves" the finder's fee, right? And by the way... Benji is a great dog, but he's no UGA! Go Dawgs!

I just wanted to let Don know that Dick and I did go to see "Fireproof" tonight, and I cannot say enough good things about it. I didn't know anything about it, except that people had enjoyed it. Every married couple, or "thinking about getting married" couple, should see it. Heck, married or not, it's good to see. Exceptionally well done, with suspense, action, humor, and best of all, a great message. We've been married 37 years, but it still did us good to see it. All "young marrieds" definitely need to see it. And, lest men think it's a chick flick, it's not. Guys will like it alot. I'm sure some of you have already seen it. Oh, and it was made in Georgia, which I had not known.

Gary, you just keep revealing more and more about what a great gal you have in Sherron. I'd say you're a perfect match. She is obviously a lady of many talents. Dick runs when he sees me getting near him with scissors.

Gary, yours and Don's encounters with celebrities jolted my memory. Dick's gonna kill me for bringing this up 'cause it's not a favorite memory of his, but he and I were on Family Feud way back in '83. And, yes, Richard Dawson planted a kiss right on me, although I struggled. And, no, we did not win. Only consolation prizes consisting of a years supply of Brute products. It was like the scene from Forrest Gump about shrimp, except it was Brute. Brute deoderant, Brute soap, Brute aftershave, Brut ...... Oh, and I got a cook book. I'm still waiting on the fortune and fame from that crazy escapade.

Love to you all. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Diane

I don't know what Dick will say, but.... "Survey says" great story, Diane! I'd love to see a tape of that one, unless of course you had them all destroyed.

Liz is very anxious to see "Fireproof," and it is definitely on our list of must see movies. Has anyone else out there seen it?

Celebrities EVERYWHERE!!!! Anyone care for one more? While assigned to the USS Valdez, I served with a fellow named Randy Smith (a Harvard graduate). Years later (at least ten) while watching the national news as I prepared for work one morning, there he was. Randy Smith was now Randall Smith, employed by Merrill Lynch and providing the expert Wall Street report on national TV. You just never know where people may end up. I agree with Don - I would love to see that Family Feud show!!! And just think - I have Diane's autograph!! I wonder what it would go for on eBay?!?!

Watch out Gary, Obama will be wanting to tax your autograph! God, please help us!!!! I can't believe where we are heading.

Jim… I am one person who shares your frustration. Back in the sixties when we were in school, the people of this country were actually SCARED of socialism and communism. Many folks today must not remember that one of the “S”s in U.S.S.R. stood for “Socialist.” It is hard to believe that 40 years later, we are on the verge of electing a Socialist President and a predominantly Socialist Senate and House of Representatives. Socialism did not make this a great country... Freedom did! I’m afraid I’m going to wake up the day after the election a very unhappy camper. But we have to keep up the good fight. As one of my favorite philosophers, Yogi Berra once said, “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.”

Gary, I liked all those little ditties in your post, and even caught on to every one of them! Who thinks up those things, and where do you go to get a job like that?

Hi Class of 68. I just wanted to say first of all, that I am sorry this response is late in coming, but I have been extremely busy since I got back home. Most of all, I want to say how extremely wonderful it was to see everyone. I was so uncomfortable about coming to the reunion because I felt that no one would really remember me. I regret that I was not always there to share in the fun, heartaches, pranks, etc. that you all were a part of. I kind of felt out of place, but then I really did not care after a while. It was so great for me to see people who I relate my fondest memories with. I know many of you can not understand that. I enjoyed talking with so many of you, and many of you treated me as though I had been around. It just shows me your personalities, which were awesome. Many of you were the same as I had remembered, and some of you had changed. I regret that there were some of you I did not get to talk with and get to know, or know again.
I want to thank Dale and his wife for spending a lot of their time chatting with me. It was great. You are a lovely couple and my prayer for you is many happy and healtful years.
Connie, thank you so much for sending me the clipping out of the ECHO. It means a lot to me. You were precious for thinking of me, and doing that for me. My warmest and deepest respect goes to you.
A special thanks to Dick and Diane for your warm welcome and making me feel at home. The same thanks to Kay and Ray Wheless, and Teresa Stevens.
Again, I truly do love each and every one of you in the class of 68. I hope to see you all again, sooner than later.
With love and regards, Susan Peterman Harris

Here I sit, after a very busy Sunday afternoon, waiting for our church "small group" to arrive at 6 PM. Tidying up the computer area, I naturally took the chance to check our website. What a pleasant surprise was awaiting in the message from Susan.

I think it is messages like hers that confirms that our reunion was more than just a bunch of old pals getting together to talk about old times. As true as that may be, and as much fun as it was, I think the time served another special purpose. It was a time to get back to "the basics" so to speak, to remember the value of keeping people in our lives who knew us "back when". While we all came from different families and had many different experiences growing up, we now know that we all had our ups and downs. If we didn't back then, we sure have since. Susan, I know that I speak for everyone when I say how glad we are that you came all the way from Texas for the reunion. We were truly happy to see you, and hope that there will be many occasions to see you again. I'm happy that along the way the class was a source of memories that have been good for you to recall. You can be assured that our collective arms will always be open to you.

Everyone have a good upcoming week. Sorry to bring up this issue, but we were watching yesterday when the Bulldogs tangled with the Gators. Our sons were watching in Chicago and CO, and we were all bummed. Oh, well, next time!

See you at the voting booth...

God bless,
Diane

Happy Monday! My apologies for not keeping the site more interesting lately but I've been a little pre-occupied with my brother's medical issues. I did manage to add a few more pictures to the Couples page and ClassCreator added a 1968 History/Videos link for us to enjoy. I've also been working on the image CD's and hope to get some work done on the DVD this week. I'll keep you posted on possible distribution. Diane, it doesn't take much to amuse me so everytime I see a joke or list I think others might enjoy, I try to share it. For all the locals, if you haven't seen the sunflower fields on Fire Tower Road, next to the new Jail, you are missing a real pleasure to the eye!!! I pray you all have a Blessed Week!! Later!!

Hi!
I hope that all of you are doing well!

I know that we are getting into such a busy time of year. Maybe after the first of the year we could plan a "gathering" for anyone that could come. We could meet at a restaurant, or you're always welcomed to come to my house for hotdogs or something. I know Inez had mentioned some ideas a few weeks ago, so we can all think about it and decide what would work...
(do you out-of-state people have any plans for coming to Ga. anytime?)

I think of you all often and look forward to seeing you again before too long. Please stay in touch.

God bless.
love,
connie

Sad News

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote 'The Hokie Pokey' died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in....and then the trouble started.

I pray this brings a smile to your face and a "song" to your heart 'cause "that's what its all about"!!

Well, what can I say....first we have the sweet, thoughtful post from Connie, which had me gently nodding in agreement. Then I scroll down, and start reading Gary's post, which started off somberly enough. I should have known! Now I have been moved to tears and laughter, in two simple posts. I love you guys!

Seriously, I know y'all are aware by now of the death of Mr. Dave Jordan, who was such an inspirational person who we knew from our Y club days. Tereesa, isn't his wife, Jo, related to you? Anyway, he was a great person.

Blessings to all.

Diane

Kind of quiet around here. Anybody home? Must be Monday. I finally got the DVD (slideshow) put together and have started duplicating. I got about a third of them copied yesterday while watching the Falcons loose and choking up watching "The Notebook" (again). Takes about 15 minutes per DVD. Hopefully, I can get everything ready for distribution in the next couple of weeks. I ran into Joel yesterday at Target - never would have known him if we hadn't had the reunion. I made a couple of changes to the website that may have gone un-noticed. Added a poll to the home page to determine when/if we should have the next reunion. So far split between 1 and 2 years evenly. If you haven't already, check it out and vote. There are a lot of changes being added to ClassCreator as well (like the 1968 History page). I'll incorporate as they become available and seem to fit. With the holidays coming up, I would expect to see some new family pictures on the profile pages. Hope you all have a blessed week!!

Knock Knock. Hi Gary. It's me again. I sure wish you had won that election my friend, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Oh well... I do really appreciate all of your hard work on that DVD. Be sure to put me on the list to receive one and I will send you a check.

I watched that Falcons game yesterday too. Tough loss. But the future is really bright with that new quarterback Matt Ryan and new coach Mike Smith... isn't that Kay's husband? or is she married to the Oglethorpe County Sheriff? I'm really confused. But good things are gonna happen with the Falcons! At least our Dawgs won Saturday, although it sure wasn't easy (was it Connie?)

By the way Gary... I saw "The Notebook" too a while back. Very good movie! It kept me guessing right 'til the very end. A real tear jerker too!

Have a great week everybody!

By the way... thanks Connie for the words to that song on the homepage. It was "a different world" indeed!

Connie Morgan (White)

Yes, thanks Gary for doing the DVDs!!!! Please put me on the list for one, and I will gladly get a check in the mail.

I had failed to look at everything on the home page recently (just been going straight to the message forum every day), so I was glad you called attention to it. I voted!

Donald, I heard that Bucky Covington song just a week or so after the reunion. Of course it made me sentimental and "longing for the old times"...

I'm not sure I have ever seen "The Notebook". It sounds like a good one. I still have not been to see Fireproof, but have heard such good things about it.

I sure do think of "my 'old' friends" often and am looking forward to the time that I can see you again. In the meantime, please stay in touch.

with love,
connie

Good Morning Everyone! Short night - couldn't sleep so I thought I would see what's happening on ye ole website. Don't worry (be happy); I'm copying enough CD's and DVD's for every attendee to have one - or in the case of the CD's, two. We ended up with over 700 pictures - too many for one CD so I've copied them all to two CD's. I sorted and selected pictures for the DVD to create a slide show. I know several classmates said they don't have a computer so hopefully they have or have access to a DVD player and will be able to watch this 18 minute slide show. I tried to keep the cost low so it looks like it will be about $1.60 plus postage. I was hoping to hand deliver most just to have another opportunity to say hi. We'll see how that pans out. Well, its almost time to put on the coffee. I hope you all have a blessed day and remainder of the week.
And Connie, you must remove all eye make-up, grab a big box of tissues and watch "The Notebook". James Garner has always been one of my favorite performers. He even did a good job in "The Ya Ya Sisterhood", which I still don't get.

11/18/08 09:06 AM #305

Diane Harris (Moore)

Gary, I've always heard that as we get older we sleep less. I can say such a thing because I do the same thing you did---wake up before the roosters. Plus, I go to bed too late, which could explain why my brain is so fuzzy all the time!

Connie, I'm with you in that Dick and I want a copy of whatever Gary is making too. All those efforts are very much appreciated.

I know everyone is in full Thanksgiving preparation mode. We will be dashing down to GA, since our kids are with their in-law families this year. We'll all be together Christmas. I'll be getting home to GA after the first of the year sometime, so hopefully I can catch up with some of you then.

Yes, I just saw "The Notebook" recently on TV too. I was prepared because I had read the book, but it was still a tear jerker. Helpful hint: Do not watch sad movies on the same day that you have had to have your faithful black lab put to sleep. What was I thinking?!

My love to each of you. Memories of our reunion and of friendships that are like gold make me smile even on the coldest, grayest Ohio day.

Just to confuse the issue a little... there is "The Notebook", the James Garner movie that Gary mentioned (very, very good), and another movie called "The Note" that came out not too long afterward, a Hallmark Channel TV movie. Both are worthy of seeing, and both are pretty emotional.

HELLO FOLKS! BEEN OUT OF TOUCH LATELY. SORRY JUST TRYING
TO COPE WITH THE ELECTIONS! ANYWAY, I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE THE "BUCKET LIST" THE OTHER NITE, I'M STILL TRYING TO GET OVER IT. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS BECAUSE I WATCHED IT AFTER RETURNING FROM THE GA/FLA GAME OR WHAT, BUT MAN!
ANYWAY WE GO ON! HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL. CALL ON ME IF YOU NEED. AND GARY AS ALWAYS THANKS!

Diane, so sorry about your dog. I hope the weather is a little more cheerful today. Anywho, I though a little hot air balloon ride might cheer everyone up. Enjoy the view.
