Gary Grice

Diane,

Not sure about losing 50 lbs but I did lose 30 in two months once and felt great afterwards. The best part - no EXERCISE! I sat in a recliner - doctor's orders. I had two surgeries - gall bladder and thyroid - one month apart. Left me not doing much for about 90 days. I had previously put on 10 lbs in a week following sinus surgery and was determined not to do that again. I followed the "Fit for Life" philosophy of combining. I can't follow it now because of the concentrated sugar in fruit juices but enjoyed it for a while. Now as far as an honorable profession - you've already got it. NOTHING - is more honorable than raising your children in the way they should go. Now you just transition to the most honorable position of grandma. Thanks for your bio. Ain't this fun!?!?

Aww, how sweet Gary. Yes, raising our boys was the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. It's hard to quit, too! That's where those grandbabies come in. And, yes, this is awesome fun! I'm sure I will wean myself off of the site soon, but I've sure had fun obsessing with it for awhile. I know that checking in on it regularly will become something I look forward to. Hopefully others will begin to do the same.

I am loving this website!! and I thank you Gary for all you've done to get it up and going, and for compiling our address list. I have to check this site every day to see if anyone has added anything.

Diane, if you find that magic diet, please let me know...

I am looking so forward to the Reunion, but I don't want to rush it... It has been much fun to see folks at the planning meetings, and I encourage anyone that can, to please come anytime that you can.

Any ideas on why more people aren't participating? Messages sent from the "Administrator" go to everyone for whom we have and email (18). Only half have signed on.

I had a message today from Janie (Etheredge) saying she is willing to help in any way with the reunion. Thanks Janie! I enjoyed your post and your cheer!
Hoping to see you soon.

We had a great meeting Sunday - you missed a lot of fun if you weren't there. Did you hear about the woman who hit the male golfer with an errant drive?

One of the side discussions mentioned someone facing cancer - a topic near to my heart. I realized that I failed to mention the form of cancer I had. I decided that I needed to update my profile and tell you "the rest of the story". Nope, not going to tell you here. You'll have to read my profile. If you have questions, please call or email me. I believe that my life was spared so I could help those facing a similar fate. Have a blessed day!!

To all my fellow '68 classmates,

Dick and I wished we could have been at the last meeting of the planning committee. I guess you could say we are "geographically challenged". We thought of you though, especially when I received the call from Connie and heard the chatter in the background.

I'm so glad to see a few of the profiles have been added to. I love reading about kids, grandkids, where people have worked, etc. It's fun to read about hobbies we have now. I'm finding out I share some of the same interests as Gail,Inez, and Pee Wee. What fun it all is!

For any of our old 'mates that may read this, Dick and I honestly, really and truly, do look forward to seeing you in September. Our prayer will be that we all have good, healthy summers that will allow us a happy reunion on the 13th.

Love,
Diane

GOLFING STORY

While in port Naples, Italy we went out to the base to play and my friend mistakenly picked up mismatched socks as he left the ship. One had red rings around the top and the other had blue rings. As he prepared to tee off, I asked him if he had an identical pair of socks back at the ship. He couldn't play the rest of the day. Everytime he looked down and saw the mismatched socks, we broke up laughing. I guess the right equipment is important.

RETIRED! RETIRED!! RETIRED!!!
Sounds like some of us made good choices and are now able to retire. Uh, unfortunately, I'm not in that group. I guess that's okay - not sure what I would do if I did retire. My lovely wife says she married me for better or worse - not breakfast, lunch and dinner. About two days at home is all she can take of me before she starts wishing I would go back to work. How soon she forgets those six month deployments (I like to remind her every now and then). I really do look forward to seeing EVERYONE this fall.

Just saying "hi" to everyone, and especially to you, Gary, with thanks for maintaining this site. Everytime I log on, I have flashbacks. Suddenly I'm seeing images of madras and John Romaine pocketbooks, and begin to smell British Sterling. All this is accompanied by "I'm a Believer", "My Girl", and all kinds of '60s music. Oh well, let me get back to the present and go mow the grass. Now that's a vision I never saw of myself back in '68. Have a wonderful May weekend everyone!

Hi Gary,

You know what they say about retiring,
TWICE AS MUCH SPOUSE
HALF THE MONEY
I'm just jealous, I think that great if you can.

See you in September
Love Janie
ps. Please post current picture, because it's been 40 years.

Hi Class of '68!

I was very pleased to receive an invitation to the reunion two days ago. Diane gave me a call back in February to let me know that it was in the works (thanks, Diane!). And thanks to my friend Gary for the wonderful job on the website! And thanks also to Ray and Connie and everyone else for your work on the upcoming reunion. Like most of you, I have experienced my share of peaks and valleys over the past 40 years...but life is good!!! I will be posting some of the details on my profile in a few days, along with some photos. I will also post some information and photos on my brother Ron who passed away of lung cancer in 1989. I really miss him. God Bless You All!!!

Don

PS You all knew me as Donald. Since high school I go by Don.

How great to hear from you Don!!! I am excited each time there is an update or a new contact. I was so sorry to learn of Ronald's death.

Ray, thanks for the letter you sent out! As you and I talked about on the phone, we want to remind people that the next "planning meeting" will be on Sunday afternoon, JUNE 22 at 2 p.m. (NOT on May 25) ----- Please remind anyone that you come in contact with of this date. Everyone that can come is invited. We're sure enjoying our meetings!

Here I sit at a keyboard in Colorado, visiting those elusive grandkids of ours, and even with those wonderful distractions I wanted to check this site for updates. And yes, it was great to see Don's! Wish we could be there for the next planning meeting, but it's likely that I'll be back out here trying to assist Annie with a newborn, who is due June 7. Anyhow, we love everyone of you, and these old bifocal wearing eyes can't wait to see you.

Thanks to everyone who have attended the Reunion planning meetings. Connie you are very brave to have everyone invade your home on Sunday afternoons. Gary you have done a great job on the website and Ray, thanks for getting the invitations mailed out(thanks Linda for the stamps). I think PeeWee has been busy with name tags and getting all the oldie but goodie music for us----and Ross is making sure that we have something good to eat. It is great to see everyone working together to make this a great event.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Sept 12 and 13.

Happy Monday and welcome to all the new classmates to join our site. I hope you will find it worthwhile and enjoyable.
Now a little Grand Humor:
My son-in-law was explaining to my 3-year old grand daughter that he would be going to Miami for a few days. Her response, as only a 3 year old can ask: "Can we go to McDonald's when you get back from "your ami"?
Have a great week!!!!

Hi all:

It is so good to hear from more and more "old" friends. I hope that as more folks have the information from the Reunion letter, that there will be even more contacts.

Gary, thank you again for all you are doing with the website. It is great!

Ray, I'll get my check in the mail soon.

Everyone have a good and safe Memorial Day, and God Bless America.

Hello to Everyone!!!

We have had the best times at the meetings at Connie's house! Everybody has just been great at planning this reunion! If the main event is half as fun, we will all have a blast! I'm looking forward to seeing everybody!
Even though my hair is thin and my belly is big, I'm still coming to this here gig! So y'all had ALL better show up!!!

Love, PeeWee Brooks

Hey All Fellow Oglethorpe Indians!

I just wanted to "ditto" PeeWee's message (poet that she is)and encourage all y'all to make your best effort to show up in September. Dick and I have been ravaged by Father Time, (Pee Wee has not!) but we are so thankful to still be kicking that we can't wait to haul our wrinkles and flab down to the old clubhouse. Pride is something I got rid of about 10 years ago. There's nothing more beautiful than happy memories and old friends. Thanks to each of you on the planning committee who has worked so hard! Ray, I just got back from a trip and found my invitation waiting. It looks great, and every single question I could possibly have was answered. As they say, "the check's in the mail".

Hello everyone!
It's great reading about everyone. I find myself drifting to this address almost everyday. I was reading profiles Friday and saw Danny Gabriel had not responded. So I called, got his phone number and called him. He was out of town and called me back Tuesday. We had a great time,
we talked for over 30 minutes just catching up. I guest what I'm trying to say is if we maybe call some of
the ones that haven't responded, maybe they will and we can have 100% at the reunion. What do you think?
