Connie Morgan (White)

I join the others in expressing sincere sympathy to the family & friends of Roy.  Jim, I am so glad you visited and got to talk with his mom.   You mentioned that you will see about the flowers.    I can send you a check.    (I have some "class money" that was sent after Inez's death)

I am leaving after work to go to Canton to visit one of my sons and his family for the week-end. I hope you all have a good, safe w/e.

Diane, it has also gotten cold again here.   I am so ready for Spring.   Remember to set the clocks forward on Saturday night.

Happy late birthday wishes Alvin!!    and happy birthday Steve!

Take care friends.

Thanks Jim for the info.  I was able to grab the photo of Roy from the funeral home posting and put it on his profile page.  I will upload his obit when one is posted.

Happy Birthday Steve!!!  May this day be filled with celebration among friends and family.

Happy Birthday Steve and we wish you many many more

healthy  ones.

Thanks Connie, I just had our florist here to do a nice

spray. I had her to say from the Oglethorpe County

Class of 1968.  As you did with the  spray for Inez.

I had them to do it in red and white flowers. I did not

get a price. I will and let you know.

Have a great weekend mates.

Later

Jim

I'm sorry that I did not have the opportunity to know Roy.  From what you classmates say he was a good man, and I would have been HONORED to call him a friend.  I salute him for serving his country in time of WAR... may he now rest in PEACE.  Thanks, Jim and Connie for taking care of the flowers for the Class of 68.  And thanks, Gary, for posting the updated photo of Roy.

Diane... thank you for the compliment.  I am so happy that I was (and am) part of OCHS... even if I was only there for two years.  I know it would have been a hoot to grow up with all of you in grade school.  My family did move around a few times.  Just to let you know, I spent 1st thru 8th grades at Sumner Elementary School (Worth County), 9th grade at Clarke County Middle School, 10th grade at Athens High School, and 11th and 12th grades at OCHS... then 2+ years at Georgia Tech and 2+ years at UGA... and then an additional 38 years (and counting) in the "School of Life" (my most valuable training)!

Say a prayer folks for the people of Japan... that Earthquake and Tsunami sound terrible.

Have a nice weekend visit with your family, Connie.  Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Alvin, and a Happy Birthday to Steve.

Liz and I are going out on a "date" tonight.  I think she would like to go "some place expensive" so I'm gonna take her to our local BP and fill the car with gas.  :-)

Have a nice weekend, mates.

I read a column by Ann Coulter a moment ago and she questioned the statement that policemen and firemen have "the most dangerous jobs".  I have often assumed that statement was true but decided to check it out myself.  For your personal enlightenment, here are the 20 Most Dangerous Jobs. Later.

HAPPY MONDAY!  I'm off to Gainesville today for periodic infusion treatment.  Trust everyone survived time change and will have a very blessed week.  Later.

Good Morning, mates...

Hope you all had a good weekend.  Thanks, Gary for the advance "menu" for the gas station.  And, by the way, I DO NOT tip for self service.  :-)  Liz and I had a very exciting date...  we decided to go to Chick-Fil-A to check out those fancy new "dip and squeeze" catsup packets.  :-)  Just kidding.  Actually we ended up going to Chili's Restaurant and going to see "Country Strong"... pretty "weak" movie.

Congratulations are in order for our Georgia Bulldogs Men's Hoopsters... with an invitation to the NCAA Basketball Tournament... the "Big Dance"!  I know we are no basketball powerhouse by any means, but Coach Fox has them headed in the right direction.  We play the Washington Huskies on Friday night I believe.  GO DAWGS!  Actually, I'm ready for BRAVES BASEBALL.  They are looking pretty good in Spring Training, but I'm ready for Opening Day!  How 'bout you, Jim?... Are ya ready for some baseball?

It was tough to get up yesterday morning with the time change, but I was fine once my feet hit the floor.  But we always have a  few people who show up at church an hour late for the 9:00 service.  I'm a morning person who also likes to stay up till midnight (???)... but I do prefer the "extra daylight" in the afternoon.

Gary... I wish you well with today's treatment.

Did any of you make it to Roy Nation's funeral yesterday?  And, has anyone heard from Pee Wee since Inez's funeral?... I was wondring how she's doing.

Have a good week mates.  Reporting live from Marietta, 11:06 AM Eastern Daylight Savings Time... this is Don.

Connie Morgan (White)

Gary, I hope your trip and infusion go good today.

Don, "no" to both of your questions (about Roy's funeral and about PeeWee).  I have sure thought about everyone a lot tho!

I am still missing my hour of sleep that I lost on Sat. night.   I am definitely NOT a morning person, and not too much of a night one any more.  Actually, there is a small window of opportunity during the day if you want to find me awake, smiling and talking   :)

I hope this pretty Monday finds all of you well.  Have a good week.

Hello  all you class mates,

Hope all of you had a good, glorious weekend in the beautiful weather that God sent our way and have gotten off to the start of a good new week.

Gary, I sincerely hope that things went well w/you Monday & that you are feeling much better.

Looks like we are in for some nice temps this week. Also looks like I'm in for some sleepness nights this week.

Been thinking about all the things that are happening in the world around us and it made me think of what God's word says in the book of Matthew chapter 24.

I just can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact the Inez is really gone. I'm still keeping her and Roy's family in my prayers and hope you are too.

I am thankful for all of you and hope ya'll have a good week.

Happy soggy Tuesday.  Don't worry everyone, I'm fine - just old, fat and ugly.  The infusion went well just took all day.  Left home at 11:30 AM and got home at 6:30 PM.  The doctor decided to see me before they started the infusion, which takes 2.5 hours (mostly napping).  I will be increasing the frequency but really, all is well.  I have heard it said that sharing one's wisdom reveals one's ignorance, so at the risk of appearing ignorant, I would like to share something that for me was a pure epiphany.  (You can stop reading here if you don't want to waste your time on an old man's ramblings.)  Sunday morning while getting dressed for church, Sherron heard someone on TV say - "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience".  WOW!  I'm still trying to assimilate the totality of that phrase.  Last night on American Pickers, Mike and Frank came upon Hobo Jack, an old man who traveled around doing odd jobs.  He said when he turned seventy he attended the Hobo Convention and discovered that he was a Hobo.  He explained that mostly he was just looking for the meaning of life.  The statement I quoted above came back to me.  Maybe that is the meaning of life - it is just a human experience.  Like going to the prom or playing golf - its just an experience.  Not to lessen its value but this "human experience" is such a small part of the totality of what we are.  As we have been made aware of too often as of late, that experience can end all too soon.  During this human experience, it would appear to be advantageous to do those things that will highten and enrich our spiritual being, for that is what will continue on.  Nothing new in that statement, just a different perspective.  And with that, I wish you all a VERY BLESSED human experience this week.  Later.

And for a lighter moment:

Three friends from the local congregation were asked, “When you’re in your casket and friends and congregation members are mourning over you, what would you like them to say?”

Revrick said, “I would like them to say I was a wonderful husband, a fine spiritual leader, and a great family man.”

Richard replied, “I would like them to say I was a wonderful teacher and servant of God who made a huge difference in people’s lives.”

DJ answered, “I’d like them to say, ‘Look! He’s moving!’”

**********

A blonde was shopping at Target and came across a shiny silver Thermos. She was quite fascinated by it, so she picked it up and took It to the clerk to ask what it was.

The clerk said, ‘Why, that’s a Thermos…..  It keeps hot things hot,  and cold things cold.’

‘Wow’, said the blonde, ‘that’s amazing….I’m going to buy it!’

So she bought the thermos and took it to work the next day. Her boss saw it on her desk. ‘What’s that,’ he asked?

‘Why, that’s a Thermos…. It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold,’ she replied.

Her boss inquired, ‘What do you have in it?’

The blond replied……’Two popsicles & some coffee.’

Now that's funny!!!! Later.

It's always hard for me to remember all that has been posted by others, so I know ahead of time that I will fail to respond to something that I intended to. Oh well, what'cha gonna do?

I do know that I was going to say, "Gary, you are neither fat, ugly, nor old!" I join my friends in hoping that you will feel the benefit of the infusion. I am not familiar with that process, but if that is what you need then I am glad you were able to avail yourself of it.

Don, glad you and Liz got to enjoy a date that took you further than the gas station. I haven't seen "Country Strong". We did check out "Get Low" on Saturday. I loved it, and Dick managed not to doze off more than once or twice. I knew it was filmed in Crawfordville, Newnan, Covington, and other GA locals, so I had to see it. It was also set during the depression era, and I have always loved movies from that period. I heard my Mama and Daddy talk so often of those days, that I feel sort of like I am going back in time with them. It had Robert DuVal and Cissy Spacek in it, and I like them both.

Yes, Kathy, it is still very much on all our minds about Inez, and Roy, too. If you read this, PeeWee, we think of you as well. It's just sobering to lose our peers and old friends, whether we saw them yesterday or decades ago.

I'll be glad for Spring to come. I think a little sunshine and yellow daffodils will do me a lot of good. Gary, your jokes are pretty cheerful, too. Trouble is, I relate to that poor blonde. We must have similar IQs.

Love to all....

Diane, Diane, Diane.  You are either too kind or going blind.  My entire memory of you would opt for you being too kind.  Thank you for your kind words.  FYI an infusion is just an IV of drugs too large and concentrated to be just injected.  Its interesting visiting with everyone passing thru the lab.  Every time I go, I encounter someone much worse off than me and I often wonder why I'm even there.  This last week, a little old great-grand mother had the most twisted fingers I have ever seen.  She even had to have one removed.  I truly am thankful for pain free days!  I came across this posting that I found very interesting and thought many of you might enjoy some - Photos of the Old West .  While living in Colorado Springs, a church friend was commissioned to restore and print a large quantity of glass negatives that had been recently uncovered.  Many were similar to these but also documented how TB was treated back then.  Very interesting.  Well its a beautiful day so I must take a stroll around the kingdom.  So from the handsome young man in the Classic City, I wish you all a very blessed day.  Later.

Good Evening, Mates…

Well… I’ve started working on income taxes, and I’m not having fun yet.  So I think I’ll ramble a little on the Class Forum instead…

You are funny, Connie… :-)   The next time I come to visit you, I will try to make sure it is in that “small window of opportunity” when you are awake, smiling, and talking.  LOL!

Kathy… I too find it hard to believe that Inez is no longer with us.  It still doesn’t seem real.  And, Kathy, I see on Facebook that you haven’t been feeling well.  I hope you are feeling better tomorrow and can have fun celebrating your birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH MANY BLESSINGS!

Diane… I would also love to see the movie “Get Low”, just because of Robert Duvall.  Both he and Sissy Spacek are great actors, and Duvall especially has an amazing body of work.  A few years ago, Liz and I were watching a video tape of “To Kill a Mockingbird”… great 1962 movie from a great book!  We were both surprised to see that Duvall was in it too, one of his earliest movies, if not his first.  He’s still going strong nearly 50 years later, and I still love him as “Gus” in “Lonesome Dove”!

Gary… I really enjoyed the “Photos of the Old West” in and around Deadwood, SD.  One of the best trips that Liz and I ever made was a vacation to South Dakota with her Mom and Dad.  We spent about a week there in the summer of 1993, seeing the sites and enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery in this great country.  Badlands National Park and the Black Hills were amazing… a photographer’s paradise.  Driving through some areas of the Badlands, you almost believe you are on the Moon or on another planet.  We visited Mount Rushmore (very inspiring), and not many people realize that Gutson Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore was the original sculptor of the Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial here in Georgia before he left it unfinished and went to South Dakota.  And if you ever visit the area, please don’t miss the Crazy Horse Mountain Memorial, a sculpture of the famed Indian Chief on a grand scale still in progress, which will not be completed until long after we are all gone to Glory.  It will be much larger than Mount Rushmore.  http://www.crazyhorsememorial.org    We also visited Deadwood which is preserved as an Old West town.  You can still visit the saloon where Wild Bill Hickok was shot in the back playing cards, and visit his grave and the grave of his sweetheart Calamity Jane just outside of town in Boot Hill Cemetery.  In those old photos you posted, Gary, are some shots of the nearby Homestake Gold Mine which was still operating when we took a tour there in 1993, but they were not giving away any free samples on the day we visited.  We also visited the local towns of Keystone, Lead, Hill City, Spearfish, and Sturgis (we missed their annual motorcycle rally).  I took a photo of Liz on horseback posing with a local Sioux Indian Chief.  We did attend the Black Hills Passion Play one evening (very nice) and made a day trip over to visit Devils Tower, Wyoming (there was an old photo of it on that link too).  Most people remember Devils Tower from the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”  We took a hike (over a mile) around the base of the tower… it is a beautiful place to visit.  One day we drove through Custer State Park and saw a herd of wild buffalo grazing, and I was tempted to get close with my camera, but we were warned not to get too close because they are very dangerous.  But I did make a very close encounter with my very first buffalo burger (yummo!) on that trip and have loved them ever since.  If you’ve never been to that part of the country, it is a wonderful place to visit and well worth a place on your “Bucket List”.

Enough rambling for now… I don’t think I’ll make it to midnight tonight, Connie.  Enjoy the rest of your week mates!  And HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY to all ye of Irish descent, and any leprechauns amongst you... and should you partake of any "green beer", please don't drink and drive.

First things first, so "HAPPY BIRTHDAY", dear Kathy! I hope it will the first day in a year that will bring you a heap of blessings. You are greatly loved!

Now, to everybody else, "Happy St. Paddy's Day"!

Happy Birthday Kathy!  May your day be filled with joyous celebration and blessings.  And Happy St. Pattrick's Day to one and all.  Many forget why we celebrate this day so I've posted a graphic illustration that should help everyone remember. Don, I concur with recommendation to see the Old West.  We visited Rushmore and spend the night in Custer, S. D.  Ate buffalo in a TeePee inside a restaurant.  Had to make the most of the opportunity.  Rode through the Badlands and had to visit Wall Drugs!  Maybe someday I'll locate and post a picture I took in Amsterdam indicating how far it was to that landmark.  And speaking of driving - I'm riding down the road with one daughter in the passenger seat and another in the back seat, when what do I hear from behind me?  "Hey Dad, ya gonna turn off that blinker today?!" I guess I have arrived.  Hope everyone has a very blessed day.  Later.

Hahahaha! Like the cartoon, Gary. Reminds me of Far Side stuff, which we always loved.

Don, I liked those old photos, too. There sure were a lot of them. Haven't been to the Dakotas, but it's on my bucket list--along with getting my toenails painted before sandal season. Have been to Old Colorado Springs, though, so I enjoyed those shots a lot. I liked reading all those Indian names, and wonder what ours would be if we had Indian names. Please, let me beat you to the punch --mine would surely be "Running Mouth".

Having a nice day here in somewhat sunny Ohio, where nothing is very green even though it's St. Patrick's Day. About as soon as I get cheerful I am reminded of the sad things going on in the world, and feel so sad again.

Getting an early start on wishing everybody a good weekend.

Hi everyone,

I do hope you all had a great St. Patricks day.  We have been blessed with a lovely day indeed! temp of 74 & sunshine.

I want to thank everyone for the b/day wishes that I received here & on FB. Had a lovely day today. Nothing really special, had an appt. w/Dr. at 7 am & then Rabun & I went to Huddle House for breakfast. After tat we went over to Burton's farm where Rabun is building a storage building. He worked on that while i enjoyed using my laptop on Burton's wireless internet, so much better than our dial up. I also enjoyed watching dish network HGTV, which we do not haveat our home.

Burton made  delicious lunch for us and picked up St. Pat. Day cup cakes for my b/day cake. The kids had taken me out Sunday for my b/day. God has truly blessed me and I thank Him for every day that He gives me.

Hope all have a great weekend. Forecast for temps in 80s here.

Gary, I love that comic with all the snakes. You take care of yourself.

Diane, some of us girls know your indian name. My lips are sealed.

Dick, I want to wish you a very happy birthday celebration and hope God blesses you with the best year you've had.

ITS FRIDAY - ITS FRIDAY!!! I love this time of year.  The days get longer and the skirts get shorter.  Dick, I hope you have a very Happy Birthday.  I'm sure your lovely bride has a wonderful celebration planned.  Whenever I think of someone having a birthday, I'm reminded of Sherron's Granny's response to the question, "Granny, what are you getting Grandpa for his birthday?"  "Nothing.  He didn't use what I gave him last year!"

"What did you give him last year?"

"A cemetery plot."

So I guess a little advice would be in order.  Guys, ALWAYS use whatever you get for your birthday!  Hope everyone has a very blessed weekend.  Later.

Gary... I am not surprised that you saw a Wall Drug Store sign in Amsterdam.  I understand that they have signs all over the world, literally.  I remember that the South Dakota interstate was lined with Wall Drugs billboards for more than a hundred miles in both directions advertising the place and their "free ice water".  So we had to stop there too.

Running Mouth... excuse me... Diane... I don't know what Indian name I should have.  I'm almost afraid to ask for suggestions from anyone.  Actually, since I'm a baseball fan and Braves fan, "Chief Noc-A-Homa" is apppealing, but already taken... although it didn't work out too well for the old Braves mascot... not "politically correct".

No big plans for the weekend, although I plan to watch the Georgia Bulldogs play their first round game in the NCAA Tournament tonight at 9:45.  I know this is football country, so I don't think there is very much interest in basketball here on the forum or anywhere for that matter.  But, GO DAWGS!  Liz is planning a day trip with some of her church choir friends to visit another friend up in the mountains near Jasper tomorrow.  I''m not invited... "girls only".  They'll get together and hug a lot and giggle a lot and eat a lot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DICK!  May you be blessed with good health and prosperity.  Hope you have a great birthday, and I'm sure that Diane will be very kind to you.

Before I go, I would like to provide a service to any of you who are still having problems with the new Daylight Savings Time.  Here is a very accurate clock for you... a HUMAN CLOCK... composed of NUDE MEN (Do I have your attention, ladies?)  On this link you will find two versions of the clock... analog and digital.  Just click anywhere on the clock and it will switch from one version to the other.  Have a nice TIME!... and a nice weekend, mates.

Elizabeth "PeeWee" Brooks (Fountain)

Hello Everyone,

Wow!  We have so many birthdays to celebrate I'm not sure I can remember them all and I should have written them down before I started my message.  Happy Birthday to Alvin and Steve and Kathy and Dick and if I'm forgetting someone, forgive me.

So sorry to hear about Roy Nation and so thankful to have known him.  I remember him as a "teddy bear" kinda guy in school.  Fluffy and big-eyed and quiet and he smiled with his eyes.  He was a nice guy and will be missed.

You all have been so supportive to Inez's family and to me through this whole ordeal.  Kathy, I know that you and Inez were the best of friends in school and IT IS still hard to accept that she is no longer with us.  I want to reach for my phone and call her and just say "Hey Girl, whacha doing?"  I know, I know, I'll see her again someday in our heavenly home.

Gary, haven't you ever heard that we, as Christians, are aliens on this earth and that makes it hard for other spiritual beings to understand us!  Loved the way you defined spiritual beings in earthly bodies, just proves how mortal we are and how eternal we can be.

Gary and Donald and Diane and Connie, I don't get on the forum too often but when I do I go all the way back and read the stories and jokes to get caught up on the "Wha SUP" with everyone.  Love the jokes and humor even with the shifting sand that's been happening in our class.  Keep talking and sharing your stuff because it lets me know we have a strong heartbeat in our Class of 1968!  After all, we ARE in the top 10 of "love your classmates" and "don't mess with my buddy from school" group."

I better close for now, I have a three-year old and a four-year old about to wake up from a nap.  And, yes, they keep me busy but what a joy they are in my life.

Love you all so much and so thankful for Spring to be here and flowers in bloom.  PeeWee

Wishing my honey a "Happy Birthday"!!!!!!

Can the wedding we are going to this afternoon double as your birthday party? And can their wedding cake double as your birthday cake? If will be very convenient. (However, we will let them go on their own honeymoon)

Class of 1968, I love you!

PeeWee, it was sooo good to hear from you. We have all had you on our minds, and I bet I speak for everyone in saying that you brightened our entire day! You are a great lady in many, many ways.
