This is Cherie, class of 1966, Gene's former wife. He's in a facility for folks with Alzheimer's in Hendersonville, NC. I am joining on his behalf so that our daughter, Lynne, can show him these pages when she goes to visit him. He still remembers me and his children and some of his grandchildren (I don't think he's aware that he is a great-grandfather). I think it would be a good thing for him to see and read about old friends on this site.

Gene passed away this morning. His funeral will be in Fallston, North Carolina at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Graveside services will be on Saturday, August 3rd at 3 pm at Montlawn in Raleigh. He is being buried beside his daddy.

Photo from 2007, Five Generations - Gene, his mother, our oldest son Rob, Rob's oldest son, Robbie, and Robbie's oldest son, Christian Robert. His mama, Dora Whelchel Eason, lived to be 96. Some of you might remember her, as she was the manager of the Green Stamp Store for many years. (How many of you remember saving stamps?)
