I am very saddened to learn of Rick's passing this week. He and I were debate partners on the early Enloe debate team squad of 1963-65. About four years ago on this site, I reminded him of our 'famous debates' against the best Broughton team. We held our own, I must say, and had fun and got to know each other along the way. The topic was Medicare, yes or no. That dates both of us. Rick was a mature teen, soft spoken and intelligent. I respected him and found him to be a very positive and pleasant guy. A recent picture of him captures that warmth and grace I think. His passing will be felt by many Enloe alumni and leaves the Flat Rock community poorer for his loss. Eternal rest Rick.
