POPULAR IN THE EARLY & MID 60S

The 1960s were by far one of the most iconic and memorable decades in American history. And living through those years as a kid & then a pre-teen probably shaped our lives more than we realize.  From hippies to miniskirts and go-go boots, many agree that the 60s witnessed everything from revolutionary movements to audacious fashion trends.  Dominated by the Vietnam War & Civil Rights Protests, the 60s also saw the assassinations of President John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and finally ended on a good note when the first man landed on the moon .

I think we were in 5th grade when President Kennedy was assassinated.  Or maybe it was 4th grade.  Don't judge me for my lack of memory, ok? Afterall, I'm old!

WHO COULD EVER FORGET THESE TRENDS?

Go-go boots   Mood Rings
Miniskirts   Lava lamps

Ponchos, moccasins, medallion necklaces, chain belts, polka dot-printed fabrics, and long, puffed "bubble" sleeves were popular fashions in the late 1960s. We wore frayed bell-bottomed jeans, tie-dyed shirts, work shirts, Jesus sandals, and headbands.  And we were cool!

Accept Your Age & Be Proud Of It.
A Message From Sandy Clark Kleisley

We have earned every single one of these age spots, wrinkles and gray hairs.

No, I'm not crazy about them any more than you are, but seeing as how we can't go back in time, I accept these things as part of life and refuse to let it get me down.

In my mind I'm still young & thin, and while I was never a beauty queen, my mind's eye allows me to be.  I just avoid looking in the mirror as much as possible. Haha!  cheeky

Our age spots and wrinkles prove that we have enjoyed life, gleefully dancing in the sun (or in my case, working in my garden) for many, many years.  Our gray hair proves that we survived many rough, stressful times throughout the years (especially raising kids, am I right? haha)

Finally, to those of us who have put on a few extra pounds;  the extra weight we carry helps to keep us warmer in the winter. (I froze my butt off when I was skinny, and if you remember me, you know I was very skinny)

So it's all in the perspective we have, right? Let's accept our age and be proud of it. Life's too short for anything else.   smiley
