Clydene Rice (Freeman)

Aliece, I lived through Mrs. Brewer's class in 5th grade with you. Do you remember her telling us we were the worst class she had ever had, and then she retired that year! I do have that class picture so I'll try to find it and send it to Charlotte.

With all the talk about swats, does anyone else remember being in Ms. Yows 8th grade History class? She was an English teacher, but had to teach one class of History and she hated us. On one test, she promised everyone that failed a lick. If I remember correctly, all but 2 people failed and she lined us up and gave us that lick. That was my first and only one. I think Mac Devin got one too even though he passed the test, but he questioned whether she had graded a question correctly. I don't remember who all was in that class except for Kelly because he was constantly lining the ceiling and chalkboards with spitwads.

Clydene! You have a great memory! I do remember Mrs. Brewer always had a scowl on her face but most grownups at that time of my life seemed to be scowling!

BD! -Thanks for the book info, I'll be looking for it!....The Buckaroo Ball was successful...raising $30K for the third year in this gloomy, doomy economy! We now have about $90K towards a shelter for abused kiddos in this county, just a drop in the bucket for what is required. Just this last Jan., a woman from a family in this county reported that her brother had been missing for 10 years. The siblings had been fostered out as children to different homes. Adam Herrman's fosters never reported it when he disappeared in 1999 at AGE 11! Can you imagine someone in your life not reporting your absence until 10 years later??? There is still an ongoing investigation and the county DA will be charging the fosters with murder even though a body has not been found (yet). This world is scary to me, dear ones, much more than it was when we were youngsters. I appreciate and recall with fondness the simple times we had as classmates in Tulia even as our countrymen and women were serving in Vietnam and other places. My thanks to y'all who protected us then and my thoughts are with all of you who have loved ones protecting us now.

Before I have to go back out to that muddy lake of a pasture and may never see any of you again, I read this in this morning's paper and wanted to pass it on...doesn't apply to me, of course, (HA HA) but thought some of you could relate...(HEE HEE)

I'm a Senior Citizen...
I'm the life of the party...even when it lasts to 8 PM.
I'm very good at opening child-proof caps...with a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I'm going.
I'm the first one to find the bathroom wherever I go.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a word you are saying.
I'm very good at telling stories...over and over and over.
I'm fully aware that other people's grandchildren are not as bright as mine. (In my case, my FUTURE grandchildren!)
I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?
I'm a senior citizen, and I think I am having the time of my life, aren't I??

Blessings! And, AARP Discounts Rock!!! AL

Becky Teel (Milner)

Aliece, when will we be old enough for AARP discounts? I often think that everytime I'm almost old enough for a discount, the age is raised 3 or 4 years! (At least we got to get our driver's license at 14!)

Clydene may have great long-term memory, but what do you know about her short-term memory?? I DO know something about Clydene that she is probably too modest to reveal, so I will share. I was recently helping a Tech student look for jobs in the Houston area and we looked at the Magnolia ISD website. There on the homepage was a big picture and headlines that Clydene Freeman was recently named the new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction - way to go Clyde!

Henthorn, I'll try to stir up some of my dormant brain cells to see if I can remember this guy's name from IBM, do remember he had a terrible stomach ulcer, wasn't supposed to be drinking, didn't stop him, but had to hide from his wife when he did, kept blaming it on me!!

General Boykin is the real-deal. One of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Got caught up in the politics late in his career, but wouldn't cave in.

I'll get my room reservations next week when I get back from Montana.

Gotta Go!

PS--Inman, get some eye glasses so you can tell what kind of pills your reaching for! Wrong pill for the right reason could be interesting!

Hey Ron,

I agree with Terry. Between Viagra, Vallium, Vivarin and Vitalis you could wind up with side effects that even Vitameatavegimin couldn't counteract!! By the way, once your hair is gone don't throw out your bottle of Vitalis.... it works wonders for constipation.....just trying to be helpful.

In the spirit of being helpful, I think we should all do our part in saving the environment. We are working on "green" buildings with a mutlitude of energy saving products and as a result I became inspired to make my own personal contribution.

Do you realize how many trees we could save if we eliminated the need for toilet paper? Seriously!! I and my team are working on a capsule filled with a "smart" celophane wrap. When taken three times per day, everything comes out neatly wrapped. No mess, no odor and no need for toilet paper. We are testing it for possible adverse effects....I'll get back to you.

I want to call it "The Poop Package Pill", but my team wants to call it the "Crapper Wrapper". If any of you marketing types have any suggestions, we are open to outside opinion.

We all need to do our part to save the planet!!!

BD-You are so full of it....it would be comical to see if your b******t could be contained in cellophane! I suppose you know that the tree huggers are now involved in trying to pass a bill to control methane gas from livestock in order to help the environment smell better? You could make a lot of money and you could be in the hall of fame of some organization if you would design a cork that we could use to plug into that outlet of the cattle that contributes to methane gas and its resulting aroma!!

And, personally, I love trees, but I ain't giving up my Charmin!

BD - I am sorry, but I am with Aliece. I am one of those people that can not even go along side the road. I have to have a nice bathroom and my "TP". Trust me, there is no way I would take a pill that is going to desolve into plastic wrap in my body. Just think of it -
no telling what it would wrap around and then slide out!!
I like all of my innerds as they are, don't want to lose anything if I don't have to~!!!!!

My neighbor found a Tulia 1967 class ring several years ago in a lake near Dallas. The initials MAW are in the ring. Any ideas who it could belong to or how to find them. Thanks.

05/05/09 11:18 AM #335

Jann Cawthon (Webb)

Sharon, that is amazing that someone found that Tulia ring. Hopefully, we can look at a 1967 yearbook and figure it out! Wouldn't that be a hoot to return it to the owner!

Mike, they actually manufacture a toilet with a wash cycle so that you don't have to use TP. I have heard of bidet before, but I've seen this one touted on the green network where they are rennovating homes to be all green. So, I don't think there will be a need for your crapper wrapper.

Dad bought me my first pistol the other day. That evening I got an email invite to a cruise. It was amazing timing. The cruise invited me to bring all my heavy artillery. What they do is cruise up and down the coast of Somalia waiting for pirates to attack. You can figure out the rest.

Yes Jann, I understand that they also have hand granades available at a small fee. I have already sent in my deposit because I found out that Texans are signing up by the hundreds! I think BD and Joe Don are planning to go, also. Guess I better get my bazooka out of storage. I hear you get double points for taking out 2 boats at once.

Sharon, I looked in a 1967 annual and found a guy named Mitchell Andree White called Mickey White---a senior that year. I do not remember him. I wonder if we could find him. Interesting challenge...

05/05/09 02:38 PM #338

Ka Hughes (Wilfong)

Sharon,
There was also a Mickey White in that graduating class. I do not know his middle initial. That would give you two people with that ring.

Joe Don Morris

Hopefully you won't find that Mickey White has also been missing for several years ....

Joe Don, you're cracking me up!! LOL!

A big "Thanks" to all of you who let me know the status of your room reservations in Lubbock.

If you have not made reservations and you intend to stay, PLEASE go ahead and book a room. I have to release the uncommitted rooms by the end of June (we have about 35% of the hotel blocked for us).

Please let me know if you have reserved a room....e-mail would be great or post a note on the forum.

Hey all,
Just been talking to some of the members of the class of '70. They have a site up and running similar to ours--they got it from us! Ha. Anyway, if any of you have a spouse or friends in that class, pass the word. They are trying to get members signed on.

Be sure to let Mike know about your hotel reservations when you make them---or made them.

July will be here soon

Kelly Ewen

Mike,

I did make reservations in Lubbock. Mike and Terry, Jerry Boykin was the real deal. I began working with him when he was a Captain. The last time I saw him he was a Colonel, then followed his career up until he was a three-star. He was one of the finest people I worked with in that environment.

I am really looking forward to catching up with everyone.

The ring belonged to Mickey White. He is alive and well in Oklahoma. Reunited with his ring after all those years! Thanks to all of you that helped me find him. I recieved several responses. He remembered my Mom, but not so much me!

We can visit about Boykin at the reunion, good man! Have to see who else we may have known.

Hey Classmates:
An update on Ron Wilfong, Ka's husband. He had surgery last week for a tumor on his spine. They were very concerned that it may be malignant. I just heard that it was not. He is still having some problems walking and is in pain, but hopefully, that will subside soon. Ka, our prayers are with you and Ronnie.....keep us informed.
