I remember having Bill Hawkins as a Sunday School teacher while we were in high school. Sometimes we would get him off the lesson plan and talking about something "non-sunday school" and he would always close by saying "Boys, there is more protein in a can of beer than in a steak, but don't ever drink it." I loved that man.

Hey Henthorn,
Just relooking over the plethora of "wisdom" and "guidance" you have provided in this forum, and it came to mind that I remember one spring day during track practice when Whisenhunt hit you in the head with a discus!!
Most of us thought you recovered from that, however I suspect you may have suffered some degree of brain damage that causes the direction of your thought processes. This is not a bad thing. They have medication for almost everything these days, to include medication for the side effects of the medication.
Anyone else care to comment??

As a student nurse, I can vouch for the fact that medication is indeed indicated by some of the postings I have read. Thanks to Terry, I finally have something to add! ;-) Shirley

O.K., I think I am back in the land of the "living". My husband, Ronnie, is now doing rehab at the Swisher hospital. I am not sure how long. He is having trouble with his legs working. We are not sure how long the mass was pressing on his spine, but it definately was disturbing the movement of his legs. Char, thanks for letting everyone know. I have been so preoccupied that I have not even gotten on here to check things out. I am glad to see that we have 2 new profiles in place. I am going to download their pictures right now.

Somebody needs to break the cycle and start something "wild" in this message forum!!!

I always thought that BD had a mental problem, now I know. I do remember the joining of his head and Bruce's discus throw.

Mike, I remember going to the hospital to see you after your impact with the discus. You were lying there moaning, and I guess I didn't really understand the severity of your injury until I just read your message on the forum that was BACKWARDS ! ! ! You are one crazy guy! The doctor may need to prescribe more meds. Make an appointment quick.

Thanks, Dorinda. It is great birthday. 1/2 day of school today. Summer begins.

BD, I am so impressed with your typing backwards. Not all brains work that way.....I tried it and wasn't so good at it.

Have a wonderful weekend, all.

MOVIE REVIEW: Boyd and I celebrated our 37th anniversary yesterday! We took our 7 year old grandson to see "UP" last night - it is a GREAT movie. Even if you don't have access to a grandchild to use as an excuse I highly recommend the movie. (It may not sound like a romantic anniversary celebration, but if you see the movie you will agree it was very appropriate AND earlier in the day we met for a very nice lunch. I also received pretty red roses!) Has anyone else seen a good movie recently?

Ka, please update us on Ron's progress.....
I hope each day finds more improvement.

Becky, we are planning on taking Mikayla to see UP soon. You are making me want to go now.....

Hey all, July is just around the corner. I am hoping I can lose those extra 25 pounds by then. Naw, can't be done. Oh well, that is just the way it is.

See you in July.

Do you remember the "reunion" get together at Eden, Texas the summer of 1970. Things like that did not happen from where we came from.

Yeah Kenneth, I remember parts of it. Mostly the trip down there and the trip home! :-) The rest seems to be a blur.

Update on Ron: My days consist of home, hospital, grandkids right now. Ronnie is still in rehab at Swisher Memorial. He has made it to the copier which is about 50 steps out of his room. He has a hard time making it back, but he is working hard to do so. Harold Keeter took him for a ride on Friday, stayed too long, and we had a hard time getting him back in the room. I don't have any idea how long before he will be walking normal. He has to get better because I am not able to lift him after he gets home. Just keep him in your prayers that his spirits stay up and therapy keeps working.

It is hard to believe that it is only 6 weeks until Picnic. I hope everyone is ready to have a good time visiting and reminiscing over "old" times.

Classmates,

I have some really bad news to report. The Crapper Wrapper project is officially in the cra.... (might be a poor choice of words here) uuuh, officially on hold.

After preliminary lab tests, I decided to press ahead with beta testing in the field on uninformed subjects. The logical choice was to use some of my construction workers (I convinced them that this was a new, more powerful form of Viagra that should have more permanent effects). On the third day of taking the amazing Crapper Wrapper it happened. After a lunch of Mamma Zapata's Vienna sausage with pork and beans burritos (repleat with her homemade habenero salsa) the 3 subjects began experiencing significant gastro-intestinal distress. During the hot weather I allow my guys to wear cut-offs or baggy shorts on the jobsite. About 1:00 pm several of us noticed these cellophane "balloons" eminating from the pants legs of my 3 test subjects, some about 4" to 5" in diameter and some as big a 10" to 12".

OBSERVATION #1: The smart cellophane is not as smart
as we thought it was....it cannot (yet) distinguish
solids from liquids or gases.

One of the welders thought it would be funny to burst one of these "balloons" with his cutting torch.

OBSERVATION #2: Methane, when confined in a
restricted space is highly explosive, especially when
ignited by a cutting torch.

The initial explosion set off a chain reaction causing all of the other balloons on the site to sequentially explode. The explosions coupled with sheer panic and the aforementioned GI distress caused my 3 test subjects to begin releasing a whole series of these deadly balloons in rapid succession.

The last we saw them, they were running full speed out of Seminole towards Hobbs, NM......little "pops" and large "BOOMS" following right behind them. Boy, I'm sure gonna miss those guys! They were great carpenters. Our only hope is that they run out of gas before their heart or lungs quits on them.

Anyway, I may not be back on the Forum before the reunion. Now that OSHA, the EPA, TCEQ, TNRCC, ACLU and MADD are involved, I am going to be busy doing paperwork for a while. Don't worry...I am not giving up. This is only a minor setback. I realize that progress and greatness take perserverance. I will continue to do MY part to save this fragile planet (hope I can stay out of jail!!).

Big Dad
