Judy Gunnels (Love)

Charlotte, Please add Danny and I to the Friday night meal. We had already signed up for breakfast but did not think we were going to make Friday night, but our Friday night plans have canceled so will be there. Thanks

Charlotte Grantham (O'Daniel)

Got you down, Judy. Thanks so much for telling me. I sure want to have enough food for everyone. See you on Friday.

Hotel rooms: Many of you indicated that you would be in Lubbock for the festivities there, but you are not on the hotel list Mike made above. I know that several of you live in the area and may not be planning on staying at the hotel. However, many of you live wayyyy far from Lubbock. I am wondering if you intend to stay there or not...... Thanks Mike, for the update.

Don't do that either. Mine was in the hand! No, actually, I was too much of a sissy to try to light them while holding them; but I know some that did.

Hey Henthorn, I finally remembered (may have been in la-la land, but the people are nice there!) to let you know that I have a room confirmed for Lubbock.

See everyone then! Happy Independence Day to all!

Some difficult news:

I just got word that Mike and LeeAnn Crawford's son, Mark (age 27) passed away in late May. He lived in Wills Point as do Mike and LeeAnn. Mike is not registered on here, so if anyone knows how to contact him or if you keep in contact with him, maybe you could let us know more.

Michael Henthorn

Well, has everyone run out of things to talk about or are you just saving up for the reunion? This is the quietest the forum has been in weeks. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike and Leann. Has anyone heard from them?

PS Check the hotel roster in a previous post. Each time I get an update, I just add it to that same list.

Hey all, plans are in the works!

Friday night: Tom and Dorinda are making pasta with marinara sauce and cooking up some Italian sausage served with salad and bread. I will cook up a bit of Keeter's German sausage for you non-Italians (you better be German if not Italian) for a sausage roll. We will have tea and water available. BYOB if you prefer something different. Bring all those tall tales to share. If you live around here, bring lawn chairs. $6.00 per plate for food expenses please.

See reunion details for Saturday events. Remember group picture between 1:00-1:30. You can order picture then. Local gals and guys, please bring snack items for the afternoon.

Get your room in Lubbock if you have not already done so.

See you on Friday night.

Hi Guys,

I arrived in Tulia yesterday. We are going to Sam's today to purchase supplies for Friday night. It looks like we are going to have a good crowd. Mother's church across the street is putting in a prayer garden and activity center. They have the volleyball net up and the basketball court open. They are going to leave their AC on in the fellowship hall just in case it is really hot Friday. Right now the weatherman is predicting a cooler day on Friday. Mother's backyard starts getting shade early since it faces the east.

Mother's phone number is: 806-995-3459. If any of you want to come over early this week to visit we would love to see you!!!

Ka Hughes (Wilfong)

O.K. everyone, the count down has begun ~~~~~ Friday night and Saturday will be here before you can blink.
I think everyone is excited about this reunion and I think it will turn out to be one of our best. (Although, we have had some really good ones in the past.) I think the older - oh, did I say older - I mean more mature we all are the more fun we have getting together and visiting about younger years.

See you all in Tulia!!!!!!

Hey, pass the word, bring your annuals to the reunion, if they are within reach. We can sign each others at the church Saturday.

Charlotte Grantham (O'Daniel)

Good idea, Fred! I have mine...fun to read what others wrote 40+ years ago. Sort of corny!

We are up and running now. Work has begun. Chopping, dicing, and a few stories to go along with it. We will be at the party site tomorrow afternoon. Come on by if you want to help! Got to set up tables, etc. Bring a cold Dr. Pepper and come on over around 5:00 if you want. If you are getting into Tulia early and have no particular place to go, come on over. We will get a head start on the festivities.

We had no idea when we were first planning the Friday night thing that we would have such a great turnout. We have potentially 75+ signed up for Friday night. I hope we run out of food with extras that just pop by! That would be super. Come on by even if you didn't sign up. We want to see everyone.
Until tomorrow.....

Dorinda Burton (Eargle)

Today's the day!!! We are ready with lots of food, snacks, and deserts. We are also...like the boy scouts...prepared. The Calvary Baptist Church across the street from Mother's is leaving the fellowship hall open and cool for us "just in case". So, either rain or heat...we are prepared. Anyone who wants to come early you are welcome at any time. I know there will be activity around here from 2:00 pm on.

See you soon!

Dorinda

Does anyone have access to an ice machine? I assumed the schools here would donate ice from their machines, but have just found out they aren't able to do that. We have several coolers available. Johnnie Davis is coming through Amarillo and has volunteered to buy enough ice for us on her way through. The Senior Citizens Center in Tulia is donating some ice. But, as of now I am seeking local businesses that have excess ice from their machines...........Please call if you have access to an ice machine.

Becky Teel (Milner)

Sandy (Carter) Valko was not able to make it to the reunion. She is currently in the hospital - originally to address one health issue, but there have been some complications. She is currently battling pneumonia. If you would like to send her a card she will probably continue to be in the hospital for several days.

She has worked for the same doctors for over 20 years. Jo says they are taking good care of her to try to get her to hurry back to work!

Take care - Becky

Aliece Sefcik (Lowe)

I live close to Wichita and visited Sandy today in the ICU. She was asleep, there were no family members there and with the confidentiality laws, the nurses could not give me any info. I will continue to try to see her and report back to you.

I am so sorry I missed out on all the fun! Can't wait to see some postings and pictures!

God Bless...
Aliece

What good company at the Burton house last night!! Am at work tonight-you all are in Lubbock partying without me-boo-hoo. Everyone looked great last night, it was amazing! We all looked 100 times better than I thought we would 40 years later.
The turnout was great haven't heard the head count yet, but LOTS of folks were there. Including some we haven't seen in 40 years ie R.Eggemeyer, S. George to name a couple.
Aliece: really missed seeing you! Do you ever get to Amarillo or DFW? Call me!!
Don't yall party past the point of no return! Let me know how it went.

Charlotte Grantham (O'Daniel)

I am now home and I have to say I have not seen so much hugging, kissing, lying, smiling, laughing, and eating in many years. Thank you all for coming and making the event such a success. I have tons and tons of pictures that I will post as soon as possible.

I am working on a total head count and will get that on here soon. I have been taking a very long needed nap!

11 of us ate breakfast from 7:30-11:00 this morning. There were a few more at the hotel but either left out early or slept in late. Anyway, those were the "die-hards" that couldn't give up.

About 14 of us gathered up in a circle until around 1:00 a.m. (we are older now you know) last night and told "THS" stories. Don't know if most were true or not, but they sure were good stories.

Loved seeing each one of you. Keep posting. We are keeping the site going and want to hear from you often. Keep your bio updated, contact others and get them signed up, let us know of special events in your life, let us know of serious situations, etc. We are family.

Marcia (Inglis) is having knee replacement surgery this week. Good luck Marcia. Sandy is in our thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted, Becky. Remember Mary W. whose father passed away this past week.

Thanks to all who helped.....too many to list and I might forget someone. But especially to Dorinda and her mom. BTW, we found out that Fran was not feeling very well while we were there, and Dorinda will be taking her to the Dr. tomorrow.

One more thing and I will close: Everyone that went to the reunion, post something!!!! There is no way we all knew what was happening everywhere. Tell us something funny that happened, something that you thought about as you were reliving the past, or about a special renewal of friendship that occured. At least make a comment about the reunion. Post, post, post.....
