Cliff Freeman

Thanks for all the hard work, and time spent to get ready for this big event! The website has really been a hit. There is usually not a day that I don't sign on to see what everyone is saying. I enjoyed visiting with everyone that time would allow. Sounds like Saturday nite in Lubbock was a great time as well.
If the hill country is too hot in the summer months--maybe everyone would enjoy the land of enchantment---Red River or Ruidoso. Cliff

Good suggestion, Cliff. I am all for it no matter where we go!

Hello all...
I visited Sandy today. She is sedated so I was not able to talk with her. Her sister, Jo (both live in Wichita) and Don and Sandy's son, Heath, from the Dallas area were there. He has all the letters and emails that y'all have sent and have read them daily to her. He said to keep sending them! Tomorrow may be a turning point for her so keep her in your prayers.

Dorinda, give Fran a hug from me. I hope she feels better!

Aliece

Well gang, it's Tuesday and my heart is still so full from this weekend that I may go a little long on this post so please endulge me.

First of all, thanks again and again to all of you ladies (and your spouses) that put the reunion together and brought the entire event off without a hitch. The food was wonderful and plentiful, the venues were perfect and your thorough planning was evident throughout the weekend. A BIG thanks to Buttons and Roland for carting us through the parade. A HUGE debt of gratitude to Lottie for setting up this site and keeping us all connected in cyberspace. Because of her efforts, we can be more involved in each other's lives until our next gathering.

I do, however, have two criticisms: 1) It ended entirely too soon, and 2) I did not get spend enough time visiting at length with all of you (and your spouses) who were able to attend. A whole lot of life has happened in the past forty years. I just ran out of time in getting all of the details from each of you about how you have lived it.

I was particularly struck, not by what you had done in life to earn a living, but by who you are....the ideals you are committed to. I heard several stories of triumph over tragedy...overcoming sorrow. None of the stories were about the tragedy or the sorrow. The emphasis was on the triumph...the things that you have allowed to bring you joy. Everywhere I turned throughout the weekend I was surrounded by people of incredible character and steel-hard resilience. This world could use a lot more folks like you.

For those of you who could not stay over until Sunday morning, several of us gathered in the lobby for breakfast and more visiting. We did not go to church that morning....we HAD church right there in the lobby. It's been a long time since I witnessed such an outpouring of compassion and unconditional love. The story of Richard Eggemeyer and his family will be a book someday....we are holding him to it. Be watching for it. It will be a great read!

The older I get, the more aware I am of just how much I do not know....(my children feel compelled to remind me of that on occasion). However, I do know this; I believe in the providence of almighty God and I will forever be grateful to Him that I was born in 1950 in Tulia America and was allowed to grow up among you and your families. Whatever I eventually become in life will be, in large part, due to your influence and friendship. Each one of you are special and unique.

So, I guess it's really over....I wish we were still together for just a few more days. We sure hugged a lot, laughed a lot and cried some. We told lots of tales. I realize that the farther the telling is from the happening that some details may become obscured or embellished, but they are what they are....adventure TALES from a long time ago. I just hope those whose innocence we impuned by offering them up as part of a yarn will eventually forgive us.

Be sure and check the Profiles page and this Forum periodically for updates. If you log on to snoop, be sure to post something so we know you are still breathing. Let's commit to staying more up-to-date on what's happening in each other's lives.

For those of you unable to attend this year, you were sorely missed....hope you can be with us in 2011 (BTW, you may want to check to see if your name was dropped in any of the stories that were told....we might need to make ammends).

To all of you who did attend, you were the essence of the reunion. I was honored, beyond my ability to describe, to be among you. God bless all of you until we see each other again.

Post Script - My picks:

Prom King and Queen: Cliff and Princess
Travelled farthest: Had to be Richard Egg
Cue Ball Award: You know who you(s) are
Funniest stories: Margie/Dian and Kenneth/Buttons
Funniest one-liner: Richard and Roland
Most kids and grandkids: Sharla
Highest mileage: Big Dad

The two girls in the lobby of the hotel...did they arrive in Mike's caddy by chance?

Big Dad: Your writing is so perfect. You said what many of us feel. Yes, we did have church that morning; what an experience. I wish everyone had been there. I have tears again!

Add this one: Received the biggest surprise; John. I think he is still trying to get over that one. :)

Not sure how the gals got there, JDM, but they sure were trying to get some business.

Still adding pictures. I hope everyone is enjoying them.

The reunion looked like a blast.I'm really sorry I couldn't make it.Hopefully I'll be around for the next one. Please tell me who the two in the lobby were. They looked like they fared pretty well over the yrs.

Charlotte Grantham (O'Daniel)

They were a couple of "working women" from the bar behind the hotel. They were very willing to pose for the picture!

Aliece: Thank you so much for the very, very generous contribution to the class fund. I will pay for your pictures and deposit the rest. It will come in very handy for the next one.

Becky and Ron: I apologize to you both. I don't think I ever got a good picture of either of you in any of my pictures. I have tried to double check to see who all I got, and I am missing you both. I got some many times....but not either of you. You must have run from me---can't blame you.

If anyone got a picture with Becky and/or Ron Inman in it, please post it on your profile and I will tranfer it to the reunion pages. Let me know.

Dorinda,
I'm so sorry Fran is in the hospital. Please keep us posted and give her a hug from me and Cletus. He was so impresseds by her stamina and love of gardening.
I have to ditto BD comments. My four years at THS were the best of my school days. We moved around a lot. I never got to start and finish at the same school. All of ya'll were family to me and the best friends ever.
Ka,Charlotte, Karen,Mike, and Dorinda your efforts were awesome. Dorinda, you nearly worked me to death Thursday night and Friday, but it was worth.
Thanks a bunch.

Updates:
Dad goes back to the surgeon on 8/4 to schedule surgery to repair a large aortic anneurism. Thanks so much for all of the kind words, concern and prayer covering. A special thanks to the "Tulia Bunch" for watching out after mom and dad when I am not around.

HE'S HERE!!!
Born to Tyler and Susan Henthorn, at 2:25 PM on Wednesday, July 22, an 8 pound 3 ounce baby boy!! I think he looks just like me. Momma and baby are doing great. However, momma and daddy cannot (after nine months of pondering) agree on a name. My oldest grandaughter chooses to call him Shark, so that's what Big Dad will call him also. Their first child and my first grandson. If he ever gets a name I will post it later.

JD:
It appears from the pic that these "ladies" are under 60 years of age and have the majority of their teeth. That being the case, I wouldn't know who delivered them. Thanks for the compliment though.

Congrats, Big Dad! Lucky young man to be a member of your family.....don't spoil him too much.

Ka Hughes (Wilfong)

Hey Judy! Yeah, you got all 4 baldies. Great Job~!!!!

Love everything everyone is posting. But there are no words that can express what we all shared this weekend. It was fantastic to say the least.!!!!

Char, sorry, but no pics of Becky or Ron.

BD, congrats on the little one. Maybe his looks will change for the better as he grows and he will look like his grandmother!!! haha
Wishing your Dad the best. We stocked lots of groceries together at Bob's. I'll give your Mom a hug for you.

Has anyone heard about Sandy today? Where there any changes? They said today could be a turning point.

John R., just checking on you as well. How is your pulse today? Has it slowed down?

Congrats, Mike. Your grandkids will have a wonderful legacy brought forth by generations of character. I wish your dad the best. Hope to see you at "the Jones" this year. Ricky

My thanks also to the "Tulia ladies". You were a "10" in all you did for the rest of us. Ricky

I don't have any new information about Sandy. I do know she is still in ICU and that is all I know. Will post when I hear anything. Becky might have more info for us. I've been thinking about Marcia, Fran and Mr. Henthorn and send prayers.

AL

PS...I was not present at the reunion, but the most unchanged person for me in the photos is Richard Edwards. He has the same goofy, raised eyebrow expressions on his young, cute face that he did when we were in school. He always had a look on his face like he had just done something and was waiting for his dad to lower the boom!! I have a funny story about Richard but it will have to wait until the next reunion because I want to see his face when I tell it! (And, he won't be able to deny it 'cause preachers always tell the truth and it's the truth and that's that!)

Dorinda Burton (Eargle)

Hi,

Mother is home and doing well. After all the tests, the final decision is a flareup from colitis caused an arthritis attack as well as a flareup of the periderma that she had several years ago. The arthritis is under control and she is taking antibiotics for the colitis which we hope will control the periderma as well. Periderma gangrenosom (sp?) is an autoimmune disease that causes dermatitis that looks very much like a brown recluse spider bite at its worse. It appears that this won't get to that stage.

I have posted a lot of pictures on my profile. Charlotte I forgot to remind me about my picture. I handed you $7, but failed to sign the paper for a picture.

Mike hope your Dad is doing better. Update us on his condition.

Tom says we will have to trailer the motorcycles one year. I agree!

Kenneth I googled the "Levelland Drug Bust". Glad they got those crooks off the streets.

Joe Don, it was fun to have you and your friend participate in the parade from the air. Which plane were you flying?

Got to run...working in Mother's yard.

Dorinda

Becky Teel (Milner)

I haven't talked to Jo (Carter) since Tuesday night. There is really nothing new to report since Aliece visited Sandy at the hospital. Thanks, Aliece, for representing all of us who can't be there. Jo has promised to keep me updated. Sandy can use our prayers and good wishes.

Thanks to Dorinda (actually Fran, I think), there is finally proof that I was at the reunion and I didn't just send Boyd in my place! Dorinda's profile includes a picture taken of the two of us - yea! I'm glad Fran is at home and feeling better.

Gradually, we are getting my mom settled in her new apartment here in Lubbock. She is down to 4 boxes of decorative items. We will unpack those as soon as we have every piece of furniture in "just the right place" and then we can hang pictures. By Saturday night it should be complete!

Marcia - we'll be with you in spirit tomorrow.

Jo emailed this morning and Sandy is showing some signs of improvement. She asked for prayers to continue. If you want to send words of encouragement I know they are appreciated.

Jann Cawthon (Webb)

Got the group pic in the mail! Thanks for the expediency! It's great. I showed it to everyone and the only one he thought he knew was Danny Love. Hmmmm, Danny, did he ever arrest you? LOL!

I also ditto Big Dad's post - even though I only lived in Tulia my Senior year, it was a great year. It could have been a big tragedy to move at that time of my life, but it was a great experience. You guys are the best! Love to all!

Charlotte Grantham (O'Daniel)

You should be receiving your picture in the mail. If you do not receive it in a few days, let me know. Maybe she couldn't read your address or something. Let me know if anything seems wrong.....

I will try to find out about Marcia and let you know. Thanks for the updates on Sandy.....

Love to all,

Hi All,

I just wanted to say how much Karen and I enjoyed the reunion. It was great to see everyone and catch up on what everyone is doing these days. Huge thanks to Charlotte, Ka, Mike, Dorinda and her Mom and to all the spouses who helped with the food Friday night. All the activities were wonderful. Mike - the Hampton Inn was a super choice...what a nice place. Thanks for handling that. Thanks too to Buttons and Roland for the "big hay ride". Mike, I read your post and I certainly agree that for quality individuals of high character, Tulia grads are hard to beat.

Love you All,
C. E.
