Thanks Char for adding your comments. I did not want to be the only one voicing my opinion. I also feel that kids now adays, there are exceptions, want to take the easy way out by just quiting. Our '69 guys held their heads high and played as a "team' and never gave up trying. I for one was never ashamed of them. I would have yelled until I had no voice. That's what school spirit and learning how to win and lose is all about.

Now, about BD's neighbor, I for one think you need to deliver her some of your great Chicken meals. Help the poor lady out!!!! Give her a break. hahaha!

So glad to see a post from MH!!! Was afraid he had lost his funnies but looks like his motor is sputtering and spitting again! Where's those yuz's that made us laugh earlier this summer? We need to giggle and snirkle, even if you find a good joke on the web and just copy and paste into this itty bitty square. Unless, of course, you are MH and the antenna is turned on to receive them from the mothership! AL

Thanks, Sherma, for the update on Roland. Glad he is doing so well. He will be out running around before we know it.

More news:

Tommy Vaughn's dad, KG Vaughn, passed away. You can reach Tommy at:
11302 Highway 84 Unit 10
Shallowater, TX 79363
if you wish to send a card.

I am not sure when the funeral will be. He died Sunday, Nov. 8th or late on the 7th.

9 days down the road. Looking forward to no more pain. But you know they say no pain no gain. I did have a complete hip replacement on my left side. Feels like I have a real thick wallet there so far , just swollen - look forward to that going away. Walking around the house is already getting boring because the walker has no motor on it. My body is rather colorific but it is decreasing daily , especially if I kept the left leg up higher.
Glad to hear Sandy is getting better, three months of hospital time would be a real bummer.
Sorry to hear about Tommy's Dad. We spent a lot of time at the Vaughn Company in years past.
Thanks everybody for your thoughts and prayers.

Roland, join the club of hip replacements. I also had my left one done, back in '04. Trust me, after you get past the rehab it will be the best thing that you have ever done. The pain will go away and you will walk straight again. I have not had any problems with my at all. Keep working at it.

Hello all from Utah. It's been cold and some snow here.
Merry Christmas to everyone. The mountains are beautiful here, if you are ever this way give us a call.
We are in the phone book. I hear the snow sking is great. I lived all those years in Colorado and now Utah and have not learned to snow ski. Guess I loved water sking in Texas more than snow. Will try to make the 60 birthday bash. Sorry I missed the 40th, sounds like it was fun. God bless. Bill and Marilyn Kleman

Let me wish everyone a most exciting and Happy New Year!!! Who of us ever thought of the year 2010 back when we were reading "Brave New World" or "1984" in high school? Have we come a "long way, Baby" or what? I am starting off 2010 with a brand new career and let me tell you that it is very invigorating. I will working in Labor and Delivery at an El Paso Hospital and am so happy about it! It was a great experience to have my daughters and parents throw me a graduation party in December when I finished this degree (number three at this age !?!). Let me encourage and challenge each and every one to be involved in something new this year ... something that will change and enrich your life and those around you. I can think of no better way to start this New Year!! God Bless you and your loved ones.

So darn good to see some activity on this here forum!
Hope everyone had a wonderful, blessed Christmas. I received "TV Ears" from my family for Christmas. I am totally deaf in one ear and the neighbors in the next section could hear our TV, so instead of diamonds (HA!)or a trip to Hawaii (HA!), I have "TV Ears"! I am sure you have seen them advertised everywhere with the gadget hanging down under the chin. Real sexy....

Congrats to you, Shirley! What accomplishments!
Bill(y)...I tried snow skiing one time, embarrassed myself. Never again.

Happy New Year! AL

I am glad to see some activity too, Aliece. I check the site every week. I know everyone is busy, what with all the new year's resolutions being set and followed!!
I have given up on setting any. Ronnie and I both decided that we just did not want to have another year like 2009. He is still on a walker and came down with the shingles during the holidays. He is just ready to be able to do things on his own, without my help.
Be sure and start giving us some ideas about what you would like to do for our 60th get together. I am like Char the sooner we get it planned the more we will look forward to getting together again. Everyone will have time to work their schedules around the date. Please notify us if you find the addresses of anyone that has not registered on this site.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and just think it is only 350 days until Christmas!!!!

Aliece, maybe you need to send us a picture of your T.V. ears. (on you of course!!) In Amarillo, we are gearing up for the freeze that is to hit today. In fact temperatures are dropping at this moment. I work for an apartment complex, and we have already put out freeze alert signs. I hope all of our residents are careful about getting out and about.
Shirley, I remember you always being a smart student. Congradulations on all your achievements. I agree, learning something new is always a plus.
Roland, how are you feeling? Hope you are mending, and moving around better.
Ka, I hope your husband's health improves alot in 2010. He is blessed to have you help him.

Want to share a nostalgic work of art on the Internet with you other Tulianites. Grants were available to enable the funding to post the Tulia Herald through 1962 on this website. Keep checking back for more current issues.

Go to:
http://texashistory.unt.edu/

In upper right click on newspapers and type Tulia to bring up all Tulia Heralds. If you type something in like your family's name, it will bring up all articles with that name in it (highlighted in yellow).

From that point are many ways to sort for information.
The ads are awesome!

Hey Charlotte!

You have to set a timer. Once you get started, it is hard to stop and then before you know it, it's past your bedtime!

Have Fun!!! XXX000 AL

Aliece, thank you so much for your information regarding the Tulia Herald. I did some searching on my Father, Jim Tom Nichols, and found many, many articles with his name in it. What a blessing to look this information up, and learn more about his civic services prior to my birth. Thanks again, and Happy New Year!!

Hey Guys!

I am in Tulia for a couple of weeks. Drove in on Monday after a 21 hour drive with me and my pups. (Lacey, the cocker; Maestro, the toy poodle; and Koal, the whippet) What a trip!

I am going to check out the Tulia Herald info. What a neat (do they say that still?) idea.

I will call you Tulia folks while I am here! I hope to get some work done inside the house for Mother. I sure picked a good time to come because your winter weather has taken a little break :)

I just thought I would let everyone know that Johnnie Davis McGee's mom passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Amarillo. Johnnie lives in Fritch, Tx. We need to keep her and her family in our prayers. Her Mom was 97.

We received some information about one of our classmates, Vicki Thornton Schaeffer. I asked her family if I could share this news with you because I knew, as classmates, you would be interested in her welfare.
Early last summer she was preparing for knee replacement surgery and during the pre-op tests, they discovered a spot on her left lung. More tests indicated that it was cancerous and the doctors removed the bottom lobe of her left lung. Everything went well for her. She even had the knee replacement after a time.
In December 2009, Vicki began to have trouble breathing. She went to the doctor and they removed some fluid from her right lung. When the fluid was examined, it was found to contain cancer cells. They are now facing some chemo sessions. She will have four to six sessions scheduled about three to four weeks apart.
I know Vicki and her family would appreciate all of us keeping them in our prayers. Just wanted to you know.

Sad news to report,  Aliece's brother, Carson Sefcik, passed away on Saturday, May 8th, 2010.  He was 56.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.  Please keep this family in your prayers.

I am so, so appreciative of the calls, cards and emails during the last few weeks after the illness and death of my beloved brother, Carson.  Grief holds a heavy hold for a while as many of you have discovered with your own loved ones, but finally, with the grace of God and the love of friends, that hold starts to lift.  The tears have started turning to smiles as I receive messages about some of Carson’s pranks in early years.  (He spent an ample amount of time in the principal’s office and contributed to deep wrinkles in Bertha’s forehead!)

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.  They helped tremendously.

Love,

Aliece

O.K., all of you classmates that are turning 60, those few of us that will still be 59 when we do our Bash, want to salute you!  I am really looking forward to getting together again.  Maybe we will be able to get some that we haven't seen in a while to participate.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF THOSE TURNING 60 THROUGH THE YEAR!

If anyone has information on anyone not registered yet, please contact them or let us know.  Maybe we can add a few more this coming year.  I am excited about those of you who have already signed up for Fredricksburg.  We are starting off great.  Hope to see you in 2011 if not sooner.
