ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPRINGFIELD HS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TO SCALE BACK ALUMNI WEEKEND ACTIVITIES IN 2020

For the past 66 Years the SHS Alumni has celebrated a weekend with a golf tournament, banquet and parade. A time of competition, reunions of classmates and “old” friends. Preparations have been underway for months by the SHS Alumni trustees and many volunteers to make the 2020 alumni weekend another fun and successful one.

Great news for you golfers! This year’s golf tournament will be played as announced, on Friday, August 21st, but with some restrictions which will be posted later. The annual Parade and Banquet have been cancelled, and we are hopeful to resume those activities in 2021. This decision has been made for the safety of our volunteers, viewers and participants and is in accordance with the directive from our Governor of the State of VT. Hotels are still closed, and many restaurants closed or operating at reduced capacity would make for difficult travel for our out-of-state classmates. Disappointing for sure, but the health and wellness of all in our community, and to all of our graduates wherever they reside, is key to future activities such as these that we all enjoy.

The trustees will be meeting over the next few months to continue planning activities for this year and next, knowing plans must remain flexible for the future and possibly include some innovative ideas to keep our fundraising growing. This supports our scholarship program, parades and banquets. We’ll keep you informed of our plans.

We ask that all of you remain vigilant in yours effort to follow the CDC, State and Federal guidelines as it relates to The COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, please feel to contact us if you have any questions and we will be glad to answer them as best we can.

Stay well, and we thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you all in person once again.
