I could be way off but are the pictures of the two boys posted on the home page of our generation Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney?

Kathy, Great guess. You are correct. I could not have guessed that.

Dick....we are going to Portland OR. Checked for flights for USAir, but there wasn't a good flight time for us. Sorry we can't help your paycheck. I'm still waiting on the non-stop flights to Portland from Indy:) We will have a layover in Denver.

Ruth, I guess I'll have to work for peanuts this week since you aren't flying US Airways. I hope you have a good trip. I guess you are flying United if you are going to stop in Denver but maybe not.

Kathy, What a great guess for the pictures!!!! I was thinking it was local people!!! Dick, How far away is this Lake Wylie (sp)? from your home? I enjoyed the pictures on facebook! Are you being pounded by the winds from the two hurricanes (Bill & Danny)??? Pat, Hurry and get off this service watch, so we can see some pictures of Collin. Maybe I'll even have some new pictures of Luke!!!

08/28/09 04:50 PM #1256

Richard Finke

Jean, No Hurricanes in Charlotte since 1989 when Hugo came through. Lake Wylie is about 3-4 miles from my home where I keep my boat. It is not as big as Lake Norman to the north of Charlotte, where Joe Bubenzer lives. It is a nice lake though. They have had the Bass Masters Tournament there a few times. Lake Wylie is the lake that Jim and Tammie Baker lived on when they had PTL in Charlotte.

Ruth, Have a good time. Sorry, I thought it was Seattle.

Mike, Robert, Kent (and anyone else I forgot) Glad you joined the North Knox 70 website!! I'm sure you will find some very interesting facts on this website! Just join in the fun!

Ruth Hagemeier (Wesner)

Welcome to the website to all who have joined lately.

Happy Birthday to all Sept. babies.

Dick, we are actually flying Southwest. Coming home thru Chicago Midway...never been there...what can you tell me about MDW??

08/29/09 10:00 PM #1259

Richard Finke

Ruth, The only airline in the world that I truly hate. Midway is the most dangerous airport in the world in my opinion. Sorry , but that is the way I feel. Midway has buildings all around it and the runways are incredibly short. Southwest has changed the way America flies and in my opinion it is not for the best. Other than that you will get there safe to and from so don't worry and have a good time.

Welcome to the website Brenda!!!

Ruth Hagemeier (Wesner)

Pat...what a good-looking grandson and family. You will be surprised how time flys when there is a little one around.

Thanks Dick, now I may just walk home from Chicago. I am not the best air traveler as it is. SW was the only airline that had good flight times for our plans & Jamie's plans for his work schedule. (We flew SW to BWI when we went to visit Brittany.) I have heard MDW was not the best airport, for future travels it will not be in my flight plans. Do you fly there at all or does USAir not use MDW?

Richard Finke

Ruth, Don't let me worry you. Southwest is a great airline. They are the Walmart of the industry. The rest of us are the Sears and KMart's. They have definitely changed the industry. We used to fly into Midway. Now, I believe Southwest is about the only airline that flies to Midway. The rest of us fly to Ohare. That is what Southwest does. They fly to the airports that the Legacey carriers don't use like Midway, Proveience, Love Field in Dallas, etc. I still hate them, but it is probably more a jealousy thing. They probably get paid about 2 times what I get paid for doing the same thing. They have not been bankrupt twice like many of the Legacey carriers. Have a good time and be sure and stand in the right cattle car line so you don't get in trouble. LOL.

Tom, I never knew Pat was called RB or Roy Boy until you told me that on your Freelandville site with your nickname list. I also didn't know most of the other nicknames and that you were called Tink. I think the list you developed known as the "FNRB" was great. I can't imagine how much work ( and a few 6 packs) it took to develop that list. I may be the only one from Freelandville who did not have a nickname on your list. I guess I was too quiet and never did anything to deserve a name.

I just became friends with Kelly Laughlin on Facebook. I hope she signs on to say hi.

Ruth Hagemeier (Wesner)

Dick, according to my dad your nickname would be "little Dickie".

Thanks for the airline history lesson, at some point in our lives we probably have had to stand in a "cattle car line" somewhere. LOL

09/01/09 02:15 PM #1271

Richard Finke

Tell your dad thanks for that information. Not. I have always tried to figure out how Southwest gets everyone to stand in their particular line when the plane may not have even landed yet. Please give us a full report when you return on your experience.

Sandy Yenne has posted an announcement about the passing of Patty Duke's youngest brother on the Announcements at the bottom of the home page. Thanks Sandy for this information. Our thoughts are with Patty's family.

I believe the address for Patty would be: Patricia R Baxter, 8847 E North Shore Dr, Unionville, IN If the phone number is correct, this is the address I found for Patricia Baxter.

DICK Regarding the Official Freelandville Dutchmen Nickname List: The original list was started by Hugh Schaefer & Rex Walters. With a lot of help from the older folks in town, I created a list that eventually totaled 400 plus nicknames. Several even dated back the late 1800's ! To oversee the nickname list and to be assured that any new additions to the list were worthy of being on the list, we created the Freelandville Nickname Review Board (FNRB). Charter members of the FNRB were Steve "Ralph" Telligman, David "The Worm" Rinsch, Sam "Terry Norris" Singleton, Bill "Grumpy" Robbins, Tom "Tink" Held and the late Francie "Giggles" Kixmiller. Some key Freelandville citizens who contributed to the list and made my research much easier were Kenny "Kegger" Kixmiller, the late Vernon "The Banker" Buescher, the late Herbert "Ike" Held, the late Paul Dean "Paddlefoot, Jr." Jones(Goldie's son), the late Milton "Cow" Telligman and Steve "Luigi" Moreland.....to name just a few. Needless to say, it was a labor of love.....
