I am guessing Pat Grabbe, Tom Held, Wayne Boberg, Sam Singleton,  Bill Posey, and the 6th I do not know.

Dick

The members at that time were Sam, Wayne, Tom, Vernon Huber, my brother John with the mic, and myself.

FYI: Vernon Huber is on Facebook.

Grab:  I just happen to think.......do you think that the unidentified female voice  on the tape that you have of our band is Bonnie Huber ? It's a possibility.

Grab,

I was looking through your photos at your profile page. Hard to believe your "body cast" days were actually 40+ years ago. Seems like just the other day we were at Indy Nationals that summer telling everyone you got hurt when you rolled your Top Fuel dragster ! I believe it was Miller who came up with your nickname of "Mr. Ready-Mix" concrete. LOL

Looking at pictures of Collin, he looks just like you when you were a kid.  As he has gotten older (especially the pic in the orange stripe shirt), I can see John in is face. Look at that photo.......do you see it, too ?

Also, as a member of the FDNRB (Freelandville Dutchmen Nickname Review Board), I will be submitting Collin's nickname of "Peanut" to the other board members for addition to the "Official Freelandville Dutchmen Nickname List". I can promise you....the other four board members will see things my way !

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.....

I can assure you that Peanut will be honored. I do see the resemblance in the pictures. Lord help him.

Merry Christmas to you and to everyone else.

WOW!  A big shock when I checked the website, and there was a picture of Mom & Dad (from 65 years ago)!  Thanks for posting the article, Dick!  They had a great open house!  All the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were in attendance!  How many of us from the class of 70 will celebrate our 65th wedding anniversary?

01/02/12 09:05 PM #1936

Richard Finke

Jean,  If Ann and I make it to 65 years it will be 2046 and we will be 94 years old.  Of course we got married at 29 and had a late start.

Jean,

I was delighted to see that they used your Mom & Dad's nicknames in the article.......of course, they have been on the Official Freelandville Dutchmen Nickname List from  it's earliest beginings.

Curtis Allan Scott

Thank you to all for the birthday wishes.

Sorry for getting into the Battle of the Bands conversation so late but here goes:

Thanks to Pat and Tom for the compliments. "Time Won't Let Me" was always one of my favorites to play and always brings back fond memories when I hear it on the radio. Did we go to the State Fair contest? We went but I don't remember much about it. We must have really underwhelmed the competition. haha.

As ou correctly recall, we did play a few dances at the old 4H building after football games. In fact, we started immediately after the game was over so Bob couldn't be there because he was on the team. My brother Craig (DDS) learned a few songs so that he could fill in until Bob got there. Thanks to Mom and Dad for giving us piano lessons.

Mike Land just sent me an email and the lawsuit has been dismissed and cannot proceed.  The Plaintiffs have 33 days to appeal.  I will post more when it makes the news soon.

Last night on Valentines Day, Brenda and I attended a fundraiser event for "think pink" at the Green Event Center on the VU campus. The entertainment was provided by the 50's group "The Diamonds". The music, showmanship and their harmonical voices were outstanding. Tink and Grab you would have loved it. In attendance were Debbie (Odell) Telligman and her mother Patsie. During one of the breaks a local doctor took the mic and gave a verbal salute to Dr. and Mrs. Odell. He talked about what a wonderful service they had provided for many years to not only the Freelandville community but also the surrounding communities as well. It was extremely heartwarming when the crowd gave them a standing ovation and I'm sure greatly appreciated by Deb and Patsie. What a great event for a great cause !!!
