1963 NORTH SIDE HIGH SCHOOL
DECEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER
INTRODUCTION: This year, winter arrived on November 14 and was gone by the next day in Fort Wayne. Do you remember winters in Fort Wayne? It may have been colder when we were younger than it is today, but there are the same activities we enjoyed 65 years ago. We have fond memories sledding and ice skating, along with throwing snowballs at friends, playing hockey in the park, and making snowmen in our front yards. This picture, taken at Franke Park, is where we may have spent time sledding and ice skating.
DON ELBRECHT: Don proves a family that throws axes together stays together. His family gathered at BullsEye at Mitchell’s Restaurant for a family get together. Don did not let his vision impairment get in the way. He threw an ax and hit the bullseye? Way to go Don. You always were on target!
60th Reunion: The 60th reunion is being planned for the fall of 2023. Please let us know whether you would prefer the middle of August or middle of September to hold the reunion. Just email Stephen Heine by December 15th at heine4019@hotmail.com or phone him at 260-749-8737 with your choice.
Following are suggestions that the committee has received so far: Friday Night reception, Saturday evening dinner, and on Saturday a walking tour downtown ending with a luncheon.
Quarterly Gatherings: Since the September newsletter, several classmates gathered together to greet Steve Doan and his wife Donna back to the Fort Wayne area for a visit with family members. Also, Stephen Heine and Don Elbrecht are planning the third annual Christmas party.
- Steve Doan Reception: Below is a picture of the reception.
- Christmas Party: The next get together is scheduled for December 8th at 11:30, and all of you are invited to join us. The only requirement is that you bring a unique, inexpensive gift to share with a friendly, lovable, classmate. Please RSVP to Stephen Heine at either 260-749-8737 and leave a message or at heine4019@hotmail.com.
NORTH SIDE ALUMNI Association:
Alumni looks forward to the banquet recognizing distinguished alumni. The newest distinguished alumni will be inducted in the spring of 2022.
