What sad news. John was one of my favorite classmates.. kind, warm, and mature. He will be missed.
Michael H. Claphan
Condolences to John's family and friends. I remember him as a fellow half-miler (we called each other "Flash" and "Lightning", I don't remember who was which). I saw him once in the early '70's and we had a beer. He talked about leading patrols in Viet Nam and trying to keep his guys from getting killed. He had a slight limp from one of the two times he was shot over there, but he still tried to stay in shape. Rest in peace, John. You are a great American.
