Pictures are nice - I can't tell who anyone is. I guess you had to be there.

Herndon, I was able to pull your pictures up no problem. It was nice they had names on them.

Jeff,

I spent an hour resizing the pictures and tried to email them to you. Your ISD email address wont except attachments? Do have a home email? Some times the work emails limit incoming attachments, due to possible virus's.

Didn't mean to eavesdrop guys but, I think sharing an e-mail that you check regularly is a great idea. That way we can keep in touch with everyone for any future info or get togethers, cuz I don't know how long this website will be up. Also maybe people would then be more apt to let us know if they have changes to their home or e-mail addresses and would be easier to find for the next reunion. I've made note of Steve's and John's for our records. Thanks guys - great idea!

Wow! Don't know where to begin! I was so incredibly nervous about Friday night but once I got to Sammie's the hugs and squeals started coming! It was so awesome to see everyone! Katy, Tammy, Andrea, Mary, Izelda, Bonnie, Bobby, Robert, John, Tim, Julie, Rhonda, Gina, Sherry, Donna, well shoot! EVERYONE! I found Tammy that morning and demanded she come to at least the mixer. Being with all my buddies and all the precious, wonderful people from Carter was such a blessing! I can't stop grinning of how much fun it was! Thanks for all the special hugs and the warm welcome. I definitely want to keep up with everyone as well. Mary, Katy, Tammy, Izelda and Andrea all came over to my house on Sunday afternoon. What a hoot that was! I didn't want the weekend to end! Glenda and all the people involved in the Reunion, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Next get together, call me, I would love to help with whatever! Anyone who would like to hang out this summer, CALL ME! We need to break in the pool! Love to ALL!

Looks like Phyllis and gang had a great time "while I was driving back to Houston" We put more than 800 miles on the SUV there and back, but it was fun, at the reunion and visiting all of you, it refreshed my soul! I had always wondered what happened to everyone. Gina, you are welcome in the forum to talk as much as you like, Jeff and Steve just try to keep it going. Phyllis you never introduced me to your husband? Whats up with that? I introduced you to my wife.

Can I ask a question? here in Friendswood they have the homecoming football game and they reserve a section for the class that is having a reunion that year, and then at half time they call them onto the field and announce the class of 19!!!. Have you guys done that? at a previous reunions?.
Hasta Luego, John

Phyllis Howe (Kapp)

Awww! John! Sorry! I was just so excited about seeing everyone, poor husband got abandoned! Your wife is lovely by the way! I promise to introduce you next time to my hubby!

About the football games...I don't know if they do that or not. You know...I never got to go to one football game while I was in high school! Parents were very strict. After I met my husband, he took me to a homecoming game and even bought me my first and only mum. How sweet was that! They announced for all the alumni to stand. It was pretty cool!

Thanks, John for making me feel welcome in the conversation. It seemed to be getting a bit personal. I agree, your wife is precious. Phyllis, sounds like your husband is a definite "keeper". The last homecoming game at CHS that I went to was many years ago (late 80's - my niece was cheering) but, they didn't even have a "Coming Home Queen"presentation. It's so sad that tradition has died so much there. At my kiddos school tradition and the alumni are HUGE! They are honored at everything, including the pep rally. In fact, my daughter was a cheerleader for all 4 yrs. and they had to make up a new "alumni cheer" each year welcoming them. They even made, and still do, tons of signs (still on butcher paper - HAHA)for the alumni at homecoming. They also have a very simple newspaper that they send out to all alumni members ($10 per yr.) and anyone can submit info to be added, weddings, baby's/grandbaby's pics, military updates on alumni, etc...Very inexpensive but, very informative. May be something we should think about doing since not everyone is e-mail savvy.

Susan Harlan (Garrison)

I haven't been back to a homecoming game since "87. I remember it because I was very pregnant and so was Gina. They do have an alumni meeting each homecoming at a restaurant in Riverside. They then go to the pep rally. Poor Carter, they just never seem to have much of a team, and so therefore people don't attend. I have watched them play recently when they played Birdville. Yes, I cheered for Carter on the Birdville side. They did have a great running back which made it at least bearable. The band was good and very entertaining. I do remember the cheerleaders coming to the side I was on and doing "Two Bits". That tradition stayed. Rhonda's nephew Ricky Herring is the alumni president and works hard to get people involved. Our class was always good for getting things done, so we should really make the effort to attend this year. At least it would give us an opportunity to see each other and visit some more. I like the email idea too.
Here is mine: Susan82acu@msn.com
John, thanks for the pictures and Phillis too. Sorry I didn't get the chance to talk to you Phillis. You looked so pretty!! Steve, LOL!!!!

Phyllis,
Thanks for the pics they are great. It looks like ya'll had a lot of fun!

I guess that's how Friendswood gets the Alumni involved by having the class reunions at the same date of the Home Coming game. They go to the Pep ralley, and then they sit together in the stands (A reserved section), then they watch the Home Coming Queen presentation, and the class that is having the reuinon, has its children take flowers to each homecoming contestant and they mention the kids and their parents name. And then after wards the social, at some resturant.

I have had a blast reading all these messages so I thought I would jump in for a little conversation. All the pictures are great and everyone looked so good! I was able to recognize most everyone but, was glad the names were posted by the pictures. I am so sad that I missed everything. I can tell that everyone had such a great time and all of you that worked on getting this together put in a lot of time and effort! You did an amazing job! Rhonda had told me that everyone would like to get together for the next reunion before 5 years. I hope that happens. We should all plan something (informal) once a year just to catch up!
I like the idea of an e-mail list also. My e-mail address is: jrandll@aol.com.

Some have inquired about the websites longevity, for now it will be active for the next two years and if it still has hits after that period of time we will continue to fund the site.

Squeeze over everyone! THANK YOU to everyone who brought us together this year. What a wonderful time I had at the mixer and dinner. Several times I teared up because of the excitement of seeing everyone. I always felt OUR class was very special and we still are. The many friends we made back then and to still feel the closeness after 30 years is just WONDERFUL.

I would very much like to be on the email list and to be include in any future activities. My email address is: bonniegilbreath@yahoo.com and my cell phone number is (817) 729-1141. I've been with RadioShack Corporate offices in downtown for the past 30 yrs so you can always try to reach me at the office by calling the main number.

How many of you have a MySpace account? Of course there were some people I would loved to have seen again after 30 years. I will definitely share this site with them so we can get them added. It would be fun to see how many of us we can locate.

Looking forward to staying in touch with everyone. CHEERS TO THE CLASS OF '78!

John Herndon you are cracking me up with those photos. The woman with Mr Couch..Look at that woman's hair-do..LOL I remember my mom fixing her hair like a birds nest when I was 8 or 9 yrs old.

I came to Texas in 1970 and started school at Oakhurst in Mrs. White's 5th grade class. One thing I do remember - Jeff Dunn was in my class. He talked sooo much that Mrs. White had to call his mom to come sit with him in class. I sat between Roland Ringener and Daniel Williams (cutest guy in the world at that time..to me anyways..LOL).

I remember playing with the parachute during gym time. Does anyone remember why we had to play with a parachute??? That was new to this 'yankee'..LOL

I also remember the school in Chicago where I had come from that the boys had to stay on one side of the school yard and the girls on the other. We were NOT allowed to cross over to the other side. When I came to Texas it was a shock for me to have coed recess....Memories...

What about the Bowling class we had? Anyone remember? That was the beginning of my bowling life. My ex husband coached my daughter Brittany in bowling at Watauga Lanes (Brunswick). She was City and State champion several years before she graduated. Even won scholarship money for college. Why didn't they have that program back then. We sure could have used it! Bowling class was a lot of fun!

I missed the pics of the hairdo...where are there located? I thought Daniel Williams was a cutie in high school too. I don't know where the parachute thing came from but it was fun. However the best was middle school crab soccer. Do you remember that? I would still love to play that game! One of the few sports I was good at. I know it would kill me to run like I did in middle school and I am certain I could no longer jump hurdles which were my favorite track activity.

I'm sorry I missed Saturday night, but I really enjoyed the Friday night mixer. I had a great time re-connecting with alot of old friends, some since Oakhurst Elementary days, some from church & CHS. I could not believe Dunn remembered who my first kiss was with in elementary school, Jeff you've got a great memory. You are still loud and crazy but I wouldn't trade your friendship. There are not many people in life you can pick up conversations with after 35-40 years, time has almost stood still. John I enjoyed seeing you again after all our emails and meeting your lovely wife. Julie, Theresa, Grant it was great to see you again and relive our church camp days. Billy it's good to see you & the boys still know how to party, staying up lates a killer now isn't it? Major kudos to Glenda and the reunion committee they did an awesome job. Alot of you I didn't get to talk to as much but I tried, I hope we will all keep in touch. My email is Trickzy@aol.com, my cell is 817-228-5256.
