- Several schoolmates have rented rooms at the Roadway Inn (308.995..3189).
- If you have extra space or bed for a classmate to sleep on, please post your need and we'll see if someone has extra room for you. Thanks in advance for helping!
DAILY SCHEDULE
The Daily Activity Schedule keeps changing on us. However, here is what we think the final schedule will be.
- Tuesday - Setup day at the clubhouse for tables/chairs, posters, banners, etc. We will not be open for socialing on Tuesday so we can get some of the basics taken care of. However, George Lundeen has volunteered to us an update on what the status of the Lundeen Gallery and the works he has in the area. Wer'e planning for a 7:30pm kick off for George to get started. We will also use some of that time for a question/answer period about the Reunion Week! Yes, we have asked George to bring down some of his rejects that we might want to purchase and store in our cloths closet at home. He said he didn't have any rejects, only prototypes that didn't make the grade. Bring em on George! WE will also use the evening as a question/answer time for Reunion Week!
- Wednesday - Clubhouse will open at 7:30am for coffee, donuts and sodas. We need support for these activities. Calvin Olsen has volunterred as chairman for the Coffee Committee. If you want to be part of the group that gets up early and perks coffee, let Calvin know you want to be on the Coffee Committee. About 10:30am we will head over to the Phelps County Museum, We are planning a treasure hunt in the museum. Warner Carlsen (who has worked there for 35 years) will be joining the group to catch up with old students he knew, plus answer questions about the museum and help with the treasure hunt We will have a free Sandwich/Soda lunch at the Museum. Wednesday PM is an open day. You can spend some more time walking thru the museum or go back to the Clubhouse to socialize.
- Thursday - Clubhouse will open at 7:30am for coffee, donuts and sodas. Around 3:30pm we will have the opportunity to tour some of HHS, visit the new Tassel Room, and the updated football field. You are on your own Thursday night for dinner. You are welcome to grab some pizza or cheesburger and eat it at the Clubhouse. Clubhouse will be open until 10:30p at which time the Security Committee will begin to close down the Clubhouse, sweep the floors and get ready for Friday. If you would like to be on the Security Committee, contact Calvin Olsen as he has voluntered as Chairman of the Security Committee! We will also be doing a memorial at two of the local cemitories for our fallen classmates, more to follow as details are firmed up. Thursday is also the night to the All Class Dinner at the Auditorium. Thursday night has been left open so you can attend this event. We will post more information on this soon.
- Friday - In Memory of the Hamburger Inn!! Corky and Norm have volunterred to provide cheeseburgers, chips and SHAKES to the classmates in memory of the Hamburger Inn. Starts at 11:10pm a the Clubhouse. There is no charge for this meal. :) If you want to volunteer for the Hamburger Inn Committee, contact Corky. You may need to make hamburger patties or act as a temporary waitress to take orders. Whatever, they will find a use for you. We will have some special guests joining us: Doug Young (Mayor), Paul Peterson (Shop Teacher), Dick Turner (Math Teacher), Warner Carlson (Asst Coach), Mrs. Fryman (Gradeschool Teacher), Miss Schubert (Gradeschool Teacher)
- Saturday - NU vs OU @ 11:10 televised. If you want to watch Nebr versus Oklahoma one last time, well have the game on the big screen at the Clubhouse.
- Sunday - We will be closing down the Clubhouse on Sunday. If you want to help stack tables, chairs, etc. show up at the clubhouse in the morning and we'll find something for you to do.
NOTE - As you can see, we will be forming committies to help out with some of the grunt work during the Reunion. We will post committies that we need help with. If you can think of a committee you think we need let us know.
=====================
4/21 - I have 40 rooms blocked off for the 'Class of 66 Reunion" at the Cobblestone Hotel and Suites. We will have these rooms available for up to 2 weeks before the reunion. They are for either King size, Double Queen size rooms. They also have suites available. The benefit of doing this was to have more classmates stay at the same Hotel. If you need to catch a ride back and forth from our 'Clubhouse 66" to the Hotel, it should be easy to catch a ride with a classmate.
Room rates are $89.10 per night. If you are going to stay at the Cobblestone (308.995.8888) let them know you want a room for the Class of 66 Reunion. You might want to reserve early as their will be people coming to town for the All-Class Dinner on Thursday. I'm not sure when rooms around town will book full.
Note - I will be posting a reunion agenda this week. Stay tuned. Dennis Westergren
==================
If all goes well, join us in 0 days for our 55th Class Reunion! Stay Tuned, we will be adding additional information in the months to come. Dates reserved for the Reunion are Sept 14th - 18th, 2021.
Questions you might want to ask;
1. Are the reunion dates firm? Yes, We have already rented space (three rooms) at the Fair Ground to accomidate enough space for the Reunion Class that week. We are calling this space Clubhouse 66. Based on the agenda and the scope of what we are planning, it would be difficult to make changes at this time.
1. Will there be any covid restrictions during the reunion? Answer - We will have to see as the reunion date draws closer. Hopefully there will be no restrictions on the size of group that can gather together, etc. We will post any information as we receive it.
2. Will you need to have updated Covid shots before attending? Answer - I think it will be important that everyone has had their Covid shots to attend. My thoughts are YES, in order to keep everyone as safe as possible during the reunion week you should have had your shots before attending. Remember, you will be meeting with people you know, that are not memers of the class reunion! We've made it this far, let's not take and chances.
3. Will we be involved with the all-class reunion? Yes, we have coordinated our reunion with the All-Class reunion coorinators. They are holding their dinner at the City Auditorium on the Thursday night during our reunion.
4. What will be any charge for events, etc. to attend our Class Reunion. As of now, we are not planning to charge anything for attending our Class Reunion. However, the All-Class Reunion will be charging to attend their Dinner event. We will provide more informaiton about that as we know more. Our "Clubhouse 66" will be open from 8:00am until 10:00pm Tuesday thru Saturday to meet with classmates. We are planning to provide coffie and donuts in the morning and sodas throughout the day at no charge! We will also have a donation jar available for any loose change you want to get rid of.
5. What about lunch and dinner? We have also rented the Kitchen for the week. If you want to make a sandwich the refrigiator will be available. Put your name on what you bring as the frig does not a a lock on it. We are also checking on having a Pizza truck and a BBQ food truck on site for those that want to have lunch at the Clubhouse. We are checking to see if we can find a catering servce one day to provide sandwichs, etc on another day from our kitchen. Food from those services will be on your bill.
6. Will alcohol be available? We need to check on the rules at the Fair Grounds to see if this is permissable! One person over-consuming will ruin the day and event for everyone. I am not in favor for having alcohol at the Reunion. But then again, I don't drink! We will have to make that decision down the road.
7. Are there committies we can join to help with the Reunion? YES, as we finalize the agenda, we will need help and be asking for volunteers. Nothing exhausing, but will need to clean up at the end of the day and have people available in the morning and during the day to make sure Coffie is available. Also we will need people to do a soda run to keep the coolers full every day. If we allow alcohol, we'll need a few Bouncers to keep any rowdy classmates under control.
8. What is the agenda for the Class Reunion? I will be posting the agenda as soon as we finalize it. I had planned to go back to Holdrege in May/June to check on a few loose ends regarding our Agenda. Hopefully I can still do that, depending on my health and the pandemic. I can tell you that the Reunion will center around having the Clubhouse 66 as a gathering spot every day for our classmates. This will allow everyone to get reaquainted again and not needing to find a local cafe to meet at.
9. Who has been involved in the planning so far. We have gotten input and help from about 10 classmates. A few live in Holdrege which makes them a valuable local resource. Others helped assemble a list of all schoolmates we had from K - 12 and finding lost schoolmates and email addresses. I'll post those names as we start to fill the committe list.
10. If you have questions that you want answered, post them on the Chit-Chat Forums. Link is below the Spanky and our Gang picture. If you need to talk to someone with a question, Call Cal Olsen at 623.203.0474
That's all I have for now. Browse around the website. Again if you have questions, call Cal!!
