It is a HIgh school now however they are kinda like "YES PREP" they are gearing the students up for college and to get them ready for the real world......now that being said I guess all schools have the same goal to teach the students so when they graduate they will be an asset to the community. Teaching a trade to the students and getting them ready for what life has instore for them. Not all students go to college some graduate and go to work so they try and get them ready for work as well.

At lease this is what I gather from what I read about the school.

Hello everyone...i'm so looking forward to be at our 50th reunion....working at west hardy and oak glen for thirty plus years...I saw the changes in our northside area daily. We all have great memories of our times at school and I urge everyone to take time and find some of our missing classmates and invite them to this special reunion. I went to our tenth reunion but failed to go to more....life was busy with family and work. Now we have time please put our 50th reunion on your to do bucket list...God bless....John huettel '68

Hi, John...I'm so glad you're planning to be at our 50th Reunion, June 23!  And thanks for encouraging everyone to be there and to help spread the word.  Locating all of our classmates after so many years is quite challenging, but if everyone tells someone, our success rate will be multiplied.

For anyone seeing this who wants more details, check out the post under "Info/Messages-Public" at this website.

Looking forward to seeing you soon, John!

I see from the video that the budget for rebuilding Sam Houston is $101 million.  That is absolutely amazing when you remember that The Astrodome, the 8th wonder of the world, cost approx. $10 million.  I know the dollar has changed in all those years, but still ...  it's amazing that they devoted that kind of money to us little northsiders.  God Bless 'em.

Hi Mel....I drive by Sam each Sunday evening on my way from home in Willis to work in the Houston Med Center then back to Willis on Friday evening.  The new building is huge.  It is several 3 story buildings (I will have to count on Friday but think there is 6) that look like they are connected by a sky-walk.  It takes up most of the practice fields between the old gym and Turner Drive. It is much larger than the original and looks as if it is keeping some of the beautiful elements of the original building in front. I see no room for temp. buildings.  It is very impressive.

Does anyone remember going to Shacky's Pizza in Crosstimbers?

Across from Northline Mall - I remember the pizza place having a band on weekends.  Wasn't there the counter / bar on left as you walked in and the band was on the right wall?  It wasn't something my family did so I did not go but a few times.

Hi Glenda Burnett!

So nice to hear from one of the North Central Baptist Church crew!  I'm hoping to see all of my buddies from the 1968 youth group at the 50th reunion this June.  It's hard to believe that I met so many wonderful friends at Sam Houston High School in the two years I was there.  So any good memories!

Debra Shelby:  Thank you, and the others that form the 50th Reunion committee for the many hours of dedicated work, in order to make this reunion happen.  Kathy Newton, it appears that you are also involved in this task;  two  Meistersingers I greatly respected.  I look forward to renewing old friendships.

Terry McGee(1981) I do remember Shacky's Pizza on Crosstimbers.  Was a fun place to go on a date.  Before that one opened we would go to the one on Bellaire Blvd.  The one on Bellaire was the first one in Houston I believe.  It was so crowded you couldn't find a place to park but we liked it so much we would drive around until one opened up.

I got this message from Clyde.

From:  Clyde Pershall
Email:  Clyde@pershall.biz
For Year:  1957

I am the son of Clyde Pershall Jr. He would of been at Sam Houston around 1957. He did not graduate, but I have information about some of the other Pershall’s that have passed on. I am building the new Sam Houston High School and Schedule to tear the old one down in 2019.

Carolyn Ross (Ross) (1958)

I was wondering if Clyde is related to Mildred Pershall.  Millie got married while still in school and I don't think she graduated. I knew her from Burbank Jr. Would appreciate any information.

I wonder if, when they take down the old building, they will let former students have a brick? Would be a nice thing to do.

I do not remember Joe and Julie Alexander.  I attended North Central Baptist Church in 1965-1966, and 1967-1968.  Were they members during those years?

Debbie Carruth:  Message # 3526

So good to see another member of the 1968 North Central Baptist Church youth group!  You are still in contact with several of the kids in our youth group;  please encourage them to go to the reunion.  I realize that the main reason for this reunion is to see friends who graduated from  Sam Houston High School in 1968; but I would also like to see a very important group of SHHS graduates who were my closest friends.  I have lost contact with most of them throughout the years, and would like to personally tell them how much they meant to me.

Hope your are going too!

Todd Applegate:  Message # 3530

I too would like to have a brick from the old Sam Houston High School building.

In the spring time, but I cannot for the life of me remember if you went to Fonville. Seems like you used to hang with Deborah Hudson, but memories are not always accurate.
