Kathy Carter (Campbell)

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all have had a great weekend and enjoying this liquid sunshine we're receiving. It's been a busy week and weekend for me. Tom has been in Cincinnatti for 2 weeks with his dad who is in a hospice house with non hodgkins lymphoma and has a short time. I picked him up from airport on Saturday. We went to a fund raiser for Midland Valley Christian Academy last night where Beth teaches and had a fun time at the silent and live auctions.Beth and the girls were soooo glad to have him home for the weekend. I'll be carrying him to the airport tomorrow so he can return to Ohio.

Hope everyone has a great Saint Patrick's day and you don't get too tipsy from all that green beer.

Happy birthday Dick.

Kathy

KATHY, I WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! AND IF ITS DICK'S BRITHDAY, I ALSO WISH YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I also send my best wishes for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kathy!!! I hope you and Rabun celebrate bigtime! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dick too... whenever it is, or was. (Is it a secret?).

And HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY to everyone. I have some Irish blood (my great-great-great-grandmother) mixed in with my English, French, German, Scottish, Cherokee Indian and Georgia Bulldog blood in my family tree. That might explain why I'm all mixed up at times.

Have a great week everyone!

Don

Greetings!

I can already tell you that this won't make a lick of sense, 'cause it's too late, I've had a stressful day, and I'm way over due for bed. I was alone all day with 4 guys, and I am exhausted! They tore our basement apart, doing some renovating, and already I am asking myself "what were we thinking?" Several phone calls from people about things I can't do anything about, then the internet crashes, and the contractor starts asking me questions which require me to know construction terms. He obviously did not get the memo about who NOT to ask! Dick was in Indianapolis (of course), so he was no help. I could go on and on, but I think I already have.

Anyway, once the internet got up and running, I had to respond to all the urgent e-mails I received. Do you know how long it takes to forward 25 e-mails to 20 friends, lest ye be cursed by bad luck for the rest of your days? (I didn't really do that, but I did answer e-mails)

Actually when I saw the several references to Kathy's birthday, I naturally had to join in and say "Happy Birthday, sweet Kathy. We love you"! Then, I noticed that there was mention of Dick's birthday. Thanks!! That was a close call! Really, I checked and his birthday isn't listed, and it's the 19th. I don't know if he left it off his profile or what. I forgot to check there. But, yes, he is also turning older this week. Greg and Christy are coming in for the weekend from Chicago, and we will have a celebration with them. They don't know they are coming to a demolition site.

Well, I never meant to be up this late. My guys will be here before I know it. I made coffee for them today and two loaves of banana bread. I don't know if it will encourage them to work nicer or more slowly.

I miss you all, and enjoyed reading all the updates. It was a great way to end my day. Sweet dreams, and may God keep you safe.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Diane

Hi Guys,

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes, I've had a wonderful day and will be celebrating with family this weekend.

I didn't realize that Dick's birthday was not listed but I have always remembered that his is the 19th since it's two days after mine.

Diane and Dick, I wish you a wonderful birthday celebration and weekend with your kids.

Diane, take some pictures of the before and after remodel.

Love to all,

Kathy

Diane Harris (Moore)

Glad your birthday has been special, Kathy. You deserve it. Oh, don't look for any before and after pictures of the "remodel". It's not that big a deal. Just making a big mess mostly, and nothing will be any bigger, just trying to fix the mistakes made by the previous owners who lived here almost 22 years ago. Better yet, come see in person!

Sleep well everyone. I'm turning in earlier tonight, like I should every night.

God bless.
Diane

I'm taking a lunch break from working in my yards, because we have a beautiful day up here. Anyway, I have goofed up things on my profile and wish to set the record straight. In an effort to enter Dick's birthday (which is March 19) I went to his profile. He was out of town. I guess you can't do that, and I should have known, because I was unsuccessful. However, for some reason it now shows that I have updated MY profile, which I didn't, and it has ME as having served in the Air Force. Naturally, I was a supportive wife for 20 years while Dick was in the Air Force, but I never wore a uniform myself.

Bottom line. Gary, how did I goof up like this?

Hi Diane,

Your last entry gave me a real laugh. It is sooo you and I love it. It reminds me of school days and I'm sure that it does all those who know you well. Have you told Dick or is it a birthday surprise?

Love ya,

Kathy

Greetings to all!
I have been a negligent lurker on this forum. I would check for news but not post. I now can claim old age as an excuse. Meanwhile, thanks for the birthday wishes. I just rolled in from Indianapolis and met Diane for my birthday dinner at a nearby burger joint (where she used my birthday coupon!) It wasn't until I got home after this "light" meal that age kicked in and I started to feel old and tired. Maybe a nap would be in order?

Springtime is teasing us with a few days of really nice weather (70's) but we will be back in the 50's over the weekend. It's great to hear the birds sing and the flowers start to bloom.

Happy Springtime to you all!

Dick

Dick - I'm glad to see that you have come out of hiding! It's great to see you on the Message Forum! And I might add that you are still a VERY young man... I say that because I'm the same age that you are, or will be in a few months, and it makes me feel better! Even though I must admit that I could not lift very many bales of hay anymore, or milk too many cows. And, I will also confess too that Liz and I have been known to use a "birthday coupon" a time or two through the years. But don't tell anyone. It's a secret... sort of like your birthday was a secret.

We are having beautiful weather here in Georgia too. I'm ready for the dogwoods and azaleas and waiting for our hummingbirds to return from South America. have a great weekend... and a great week everybody!!!

Don

So good to hear from several of you!!

Are any of you on Facebook? My children are doing their best to drag me along (kicking and screaming) in this computerized world we live in.

I saw Edd Lowe last week (for tax stuff), and showed him some of our reunion pictures. He has a beautiful 5 year old daughter.

Have a good week-end.

love,
connie

Hi everyone,

Diane is a pro on facebook and I see her post often.
I am trying to navigate my way around it but have MUCH to learn. Sometimes I just wonder around trying to find the wall and accidently find it actually.

Hi One and All,
Yep, Connie, I am on Facebook. Kathy said I was a "pro", but I hardly think so! I call myself a "Facebook Granny". Last summer when I was in Colorado helping out with my grandkids, Annie practically forced me to get on Facebook, saying it would be so easy to see pictures of the kids out there, etc. I didn't know anything about it, but did it to appease her, and whad'ya know....it has been one of the nicest surprises! Yes, I easily see pictures of not just my grandkids, but those of my friends as well. At first I was skeptical, because I'd heard things about these on-line social networks that were not all favorable. Yet, from what I have seen, Facebook is secure. I have also found, and have been found by, many friends from other places we've lived, many who I had not seen in 25 or more years. I also am able to keep up with many of my extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who I seldom get to see. So, in a nutshell, Facebook has been a great find for me. In five minutes you can catch up with lots of people.

All's well here in OH. Don, I join you in your eagerness to see the hummingbirds return. They are some of God's greatest entertainment.

Make it a great week, dear friends!

Love,
Diane

The flannel sheets are off ---- don't let me down Springtime!

I love a good story. Especially when it is a TRUE story. I have always found truth more fascinating than fiction. Our Sunday School teacher told us a true story yesterday about his father who was born in eastern Europe and immigrated to America. I thought some of you might find it interesting. I’ll try to keep it very short.

My teacher’s father was born in the early 1890’s in Macedonia and by the time he was a young man, political turmoil in his country led to many, including him, being held in a prison camp. But he managed to escape and made his way across western Europe to England, seeking freedom. He dreamed of a better life in the United States. In early April 1912, at the English port of Southampton, he managed to secretly sneak aboard and hide on an ocean liner bound for America. But before the ship could leave, he was discovered by authorities and thrown off the ship. He had to watch from the dock as the ship sailed away.

Isn’t that wonderful story! Oh! By the way, the name of the ship was… the Titanic.

what a story Don... Wow!

03/25/09 08:30 AM #450

Diane Harris (Moore)

That was a great story, Don. It reminds me of a really good message someone forwarded me the other day, and if I can figure out how to post it here I will. It was one that I kept.

Connie, even up here in Ohio I haven't slept on flannel sheets in years. I took them off for good several years ago when I mysteriously began having flashes of searing heat in the middle of the night, no matter how cold it was outside. I have a feeling that your Spring is there to stay, but she is being a little more stubborn up here. One day it's 70 degrees, and the next it's back to the jackets.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone.

Love,
Diane

Do any of you ever see any interesting SIGNS out there in your daily activities? I heard about this one posted in a parking lot:

Parking for WITCHES ONLY! All others will be TOAD!

And, one of my personal favorites… I actually witnessed this one on a trip we made through the farming country of Kentucky. (Dick might appreciate this one too):

USED COWS FOR SALE!

Sorry about that. I’m in a strange mood. And it's very soggy out today and will be through Saturday. And I'm working on my taxes. Boo! But we all have to do our part to keep the wheels of this socialist government turning. Have a great wet weekend!

Don, that's a good one. I also like to watch for clever license plates. Sometimes I can figure them out, but not always. My least favorite ever was the one I spotted on my oral surgeon's Corvette as I left his office after a very expensive root canal. It said "RT CNAL". I did not think it was funny.

Sounds like it's a rainy night in Georgia (love that old song). It's rainy up here too. You all need the rain from what I have heard, and it's good for us too. Poor people in the Dakotas though.

Everyone have a nice weekend.

Love always,
Diane

I hate to change the mood here so quickly, and please forgive me if I have taken up too much space on this forum, but I have a special request of any of you who believe in the power of prayer, as I do.

I have already made a personal request of many of you to pray for Liz’s childhood friend Pat near Louisville, Kentucky who has suffered from sclerederma and pulmonary fibrosis for some time now. Even though you do not know her, many of you have responded with your prayers, and we are very grateful. Liz and Pat grew up together in Louisville and have been close friends for over 50 years. They are really more like sisters. Pat and her husband John have been a real blessing in our lives. We received a message this morning that Pat’s condition is deteriorating rapidly. Unless God touches her with His healing hand very soon, Pat’s days with us on this earth are very few. If any of you feel led, would you please add her to your prayer list and lift her up in your prayers. Please pray that “God’s Will Be Done.”

May God bless you all, my friends.
Don

Hello to everyone. Please forgive me for not communicating like I should--with tax season, I am staying very busy. Thanks to Don, Diane, Connie, Dick, and all the others for keeping the forum going!!

I want to wish a belated Happy Birthday to Dick (my age keeps me from doing everything I intend to do!!) and early Happy Birthday wishes to Teresa (Burt) Colwell and to Gary Grice. I hope your special days will be as wonderful as you are!

It is so good to know that we can be as close as we were 50+ years ago! I am not sure that the young people of today realize how important this is. Maybe they will before it is too late.

Don, I will continue to pray for your friend. I carried her name to a group of 100+ prayer warriors. Keep us posted.

I must get back to the tax preparation. Too many people are depending on me to get theirs done before April 15!!

Take care and love to all.

Ray

Teresa… I would also like to add my wishes for a Fantastic Birthday! I hope that you will have a big celebration up there in those beautiful North Georgia mountains (or wherever you may be)... with Jim, your children and those beautiful grandchildren of yours! It was great to see you again at the reunion last September, and meet Jim. May God pour out a few extra blessings for you on your special day!

Ray… I know you have your hands full these last few weeks before Tax Day. I do not envy you. I am grateful for your prayers for our friend Pat. And thank you so much for sending the request on to your group of 100+ prayer warriors. You are a good man! God will bless you… even more than He already has. And thanks to Kathy too and everyone else who is praying for Pat.

Have a great week everyone! More rain is on the way.

Good Morning Friends,

I am merely checking in to wish you a very blessed 1st day of April! As you know, there will be those out there who will be attempting to pull April's Fools jokes on you all day, so beware! I am sure that none of you, being of sound and serious minds, will be entertaining such things yourselves.

No news, so I'll go. Enjoy your Wednesday. When I was at Young Harris, and away from Dick, I used to start my countdown to the weekend on Wed., saying, "It's only 72 hours until the weekend!" I made myself so miserable. Teresa, how did you put up with me?

Hugs,
Diane
