Diane Harris (Moore)

Here's wishing everyone a great first weekend of summer. I will be thinking of you this Sunday as the meeting is taking place. If wishes could get me there, I'd be in attendance for sure. It's been so great reading the recent updates from old friends. Each time I read one, memories rush back.

A great big cyber hug to each of you,
Diane

We missed those of you who couldn't be here today. This was the first meeting PeeWee and Nancy Tucker have missed.
It was great to spend the afternoon with those that came! There were 4 first-timers: Judy Stewart, Janie Ethredge, Alvin Mathews and Benny Allen. The others that were here were: Ross Dudley, Gary Grice, Tessie Stevens, Inez Nation, Dennis Helmreich, Linda Wheless, Beverly Bramlett, Ray Wheless, Kathy Wheless, Connie Morgan. (excuse all the "maiden names" - just simpler)
Thanks to everyone's efforts to make this a special reunion!!!

Ray had received registration money from 25 members of the Class of '68, and I know some of us paid him today.

We decided to meet once more before the reunion. We set the next meeting for August 17 (Sunday) at 2 p.m. - come if you can!

Hopefully Gary or someone will write and give more details. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and I'm looking so forward to our time together!!!

Love y'all,
connie

Hey!!! Judy, Janie, Alvin and Benny and all others who attended the June 22nd Meeting,

So glad to hear you made it the meeting today at Connie's. The very one I had to miss. But, I'll see each of you at the reunion in September, if not before. I'm enjoying reading all the updates and comments from everyone. It makes me smile when I can picture the teachers and hallways and cafeteria and wacky things we all did back then.

In case some of you forgot, we were the FIRST "Sub-Freshman" class at Oglethorpe High School. Now let's take that ball and toss it around. I felt like I was forced to move to another planet or in the valley of the giants. Even Father Knows Best could not understand Wilbur's feelings when he told him he was a SSSSSUUUUUUBBBBBB Freshman.

Can't wait to see everyone in September. Oh! that reminds me of a song! "Will I See You In September?" or "Lose you to another dread year of missing out being with your life-long, first through twelfth grade, 40 to 50-year class reunion classmates? BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!

Love to you all and can't wait for the big event! PeeWee

Hey!

Oh, how I loved seeing those pictures! Thanks, Janie, for being our paparazzi! Everyone looks just great, and the smiling eyes of each one tells the story of friendships that time can never lessen. It has been way too long since I've seen Judy, and my heart is just warm inside and out knowing that I will see her and so many of my old friends in less than 100 days! I'm thrilled to hear that so many have already signed up, and it's my prayer that we will soon have even more. My continued thanks to you, Connie, for hosting these "planning sessions", which I suspect are more fun than any "planning session" I usually am asked to attend in Ohio. And to you, Gary, for maintaining this site in such splendid fashion. Thanks to all of you who have picked up the slack for folks like Dick and me.

OK, I am gonna be so busted as a grandma if I don't shut up. Babies are begging for stories to be told and burps to be burped. (The burps are from a 5 week old, not from me.)

Love to all,
Excited Diane

After Gary begged for more photos - and Janie did such a wonderful job taking pictures at the meeting yesterday, I was inspired (and shamed) into posting a few photos (old & new) on my own profile, along with a few of brother Ron too. It's great to see all your smiling faces, class of 68! Hope to see you soon.

Don

Jim Willis - where were you on Sunday??? I had hoped it would rain out your golf game!

Hey Class of 68,
I had so much fun Sunday. It was great seeing every one.
One thing I noticed Ray, is that we need larger print on your reports. Ha Ha Ha

Hey Janie... I love the picture of you in the old "Indians" jacket. Makes me want to cheer one more time! But I guess it would probably be "politically incorrect" now to say "Go Indians!"... but who cares...I do have some Cherokee blood in my family tree, and I'm not very "politically correct" anyway, so..."GO INDIANS!"

And by the way, Jim,

When I have an occasional lapse of memory, Liz calls it a "Senior Moment." And that would not be "senior" as in 12th grade at OCHS... that would be "senior" as in over 55.

Good Morning Y'all,

Just saying "hi". Thanks to all who have been so brave to post recent photos. Personally, I think the Class of '68 is looking stellar, with a couple of exceptions whose last names are Moore, that is.

Dennis, I loved the story of the Corvair 13. Oh, the things I never knew at the time. What other tales are lurking out there, that are yet to be revealed?

Gotta go. Everyone go now and make it a great day!

Love,
Diane

Don,

Thanks for the pics and kind words. It seems that many of us have had some real struggles. I only wish I could have been there for others during their trials.

Everyone else,
Don(ald) Chandler sent me a couple of pictures that bring back memories. I've posted one on the home page and will work at posting others if anyone would like to forward to me. If you haven't checked out Don's page recently, you are missing a treasure. I hope you all are enjoying this site as much as I am. Thank you for allowing me to do this.

Okay - so that didn't work. I attempted to post the pictures on the home page and all looked good at the office. I get home and no pictures. I'll try something different tomorrow. Sorry about the wait. You'll just have to check back and see what's happ'n!!!

Hi Gary,
I love the candid shots. Where did you get the pictures.
This wes-site is a treasure. I love it, I love it, I love it.

The Candid Shots are compliments of Donald Chandler. If anyone else has some "good ones" they would like me to post - send them along. I will not post any embarassing to me but everyone else is fair game!! I guess there are some advantages to administering this site.

Good Morning!

Thanks for those candid shots. Just seeing the classroom setting brings back many memories. Of course I immediately noticed those beloved John Romaine pocketbooks that I just HAD to have back then. You fellas won't understand, but that was my one biggest indulgence back in the day. I waited all year 'till Christmas, then asked for a new purse. If I recall correctly the one I had cost a whopping $18.00. At any rate, it was a lot back then, and that was considered my big gift. Many of you gals will know what I'm talking about.

Here's wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend. Thank you for all that you mean to me, as treasured friends who have given me so much to look forward to this September.

Always,
Diane

The 4th of July has always been a very special day in our family… not only because it is the birthday of our great country, but it is also the birthday of my sweet Mom (Sarah), born on Independence Day in 1909 in Oglethorpe County. She would have been 99 years old tomorrow! Ron and I were a “surprise” when we came along in 1950. A double surprise!! (Mom was 41 years old then) She died in 1982 less than two months after my wedding. She never had much use for “women’s lib,” always maintaining that she was born an “independent” girl. So…God bless the memory of my sweet Mom, and GOD BLESS AMERICA! Here’s wishing all of you, and your family and friends, a Safe and Happy 4th of July!

Hi everyone:

Just 60 days til the reunion..........

I've enjoyed reading the messages that have been posted as well as the classmate profiles. The candid shots are great. Brings back memories!!
How can we possibly be nearing 60 years old???

Unless someone rents it, we have been "penciled in" to have access to the clubhouse on August 17 (our next - and probably last, planning meeting). Hopefully we will be able to go in and get some ideas for table set-up & decorations for the reunion. Everyone that can, please come.

I am looking so forward to getting together. In the mean-time, please stay in touch via this great site.

love,
connie

Diane Harris (Moore)

Hi Everybody,

Oh my goodness! Connie said "just 60 days 'till our reunion", which made me think "yippee!" Then she said "can you believe we are nearly 60?" That did not make me say "yippee". Connie, Mrs. Fleming would have been so proud of you for illustrating how using the number 60 in two different sentences can elicit totally opposite responses! Seriously though, I am thankful we have reached this age, being sadly aware of so many of our classmates who have not. Seeing those young faces on the "In Memory" page is the only part of this site that makes me feel sad. But everyone of them should be remembered, and that page is one way to honor what they meant to us. Gary did a great job on every part of this site. Thanks again.

No news, just checking in to say "hey". I hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer. If you are headed north up I-75, (why would you do that?), please stop in for some cold, sweet ice tea.

Love,
Diane

HELLO FOLKS! WHERE IS EVERYONE? VACATION, TO HOT, WHAT? I
COUNT 39 SIGNED UP TO ATTEND, THAT'S GREAT! NOW IF WE CAN GET THE OTHER 35 COMMITTED!! HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!
ALWAYS
JIM

07/19/08 03:53 PM #83

Diane Harris (Moore)

Hi Jimmy,

Threatening to get our old friends who haven't signed up yet "committed" will certainly not encourage their attendance. On the other hand, if current pictures of Dick and me won't lure people out just for the laughs alone then I don't know what will!

I'm such a goofball. Excuse my silliness. I think the heat is getting to me. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else in September.

Diane
