Well said, PeeWee and Jim! That's one benefit of getting older. We mature past vanity, and have by now learned what's really important in life. First, that we're still here, and secondly, it really is more important what we have BECOME on the INSIDE over how we look on the outside. From everything I've come to know of y'all through this site, I'm darned proud of our little class of '68.There's none better. Besides, we can have some really fun party game competitions with our roving varicose veins and flapping batwings.
Love ya!

Well said, PeeWee!!! Now... what size was that t-shirt that you ordered?

Kathy Carter (Campbell)

PeeWee, I'm certain that there will be more of all of us to see at this 40th reunion than there was on graduation day. And we may not be seeing as well or, if you are like me, you need aid in hearing. So not to worry, thank God we are still around.

Hey Guys & Gals,
As my excitment grows about seeing all of you, I can't wait to see those "T-SHIRTS". I just know they will be perfect. And, Pee Wee, mine will definitely not be a "small". And, Dick, I only need to lose 2 pounds a day until 9/12/08.
We are about to float away where I live (135 miles from the Florida line). Tropical storm "FAY" is causing much needed rain, but, it's hard getting it all this weekend. I took my shoes off & carried them to walk across the parking lot @ Walmart in Perry this p.m. No since to get them soaked.
By the way, what football team are we playing on 9/12/08?
I love football. Go GEORGIA!!!!! And both of my children graduated from NORTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL (EAGLES), STATE CHAMPS OF QUAD A IN 2006 & 2007. Wes did play for the Eagles (graduated in '99). Well, enough chatter, all the rain is keeping me confined to playing on the computer.
Love to all,
Judy

I've loved reading everyone's comments! Guess I'll have to WEIGH in on the body change topic... (PeeWee - I think you were describing me except that I don't have a back problem...)
I can sum myself up by saying that with getting older, my hair has gotton much thinner and my body has gotton MUCH thicker.
I am just looking so forward to our upcoming time together!!!
Tessie, yes, I would like to try to get together quarterly.
Judy, I love football too. Georgia plays at South Carolina on Sept. 13.
I hope everyone is having a good week-end.
love to all

Elizabeth "PeeWee" Brooks (Fountain)

Hi Everyone!

Seems like the last 40 has affected some/most of us. Ain't it nice to have all that wisdom and patience and peace that comes with it!!!
Tessie, I'm in for the get-togethers!!! I think it would be fun, fun, fun. I vote that we have a sleep-over at Connie's house, maybe watch a good movie and have popcorn and coke. We can play some jackstones or redrover or tag-your it!!! I'm sure we all can find someonexxxxx (something) to talk about. Just kiddin - we are tooooooo old for that kinda stuff. Besides, we all have our war stories and scars.
Love yall, PeeWee

I can't believe the ladies on the forum are talkin' Georgia Football. I must admit I went astray for a few years and went to that North Avenue Trade School, Georgia Tech... and I was truly a 'Ramblin' Wreck' when I finally saw the light and transferred to UGA. But now I bleed Red and Black. Go Dawgs! I am beginning to think you ladies might be sneaking over to Connie's house on the 13th to check out the Dogs and Gamecocks. Just one question...can I go too?

08/24/08 03:12 PM #167

Judy Stewart (Findley)

Yes Donald, you can go, too. GO DAWGS!!!! We need to pull the Indians/Patriots (go OCHS) thru 1st & then we're on to Saturday. HEY, PEE WEE, IS IT GOING TO BE "GIRLS ONLY" AT THE SLEEP OVERS? HA, HA!!! AND I HOPE WE WILL HAVE "NO DIET FOOD. GOTTA GO, LOVE YA'LL.

Even though South Carolina feels like our home now, we still are very much dogs fans in my family, except for my daughter-in-law who is a Carolina graduate. She and Burton always have a party on game day when Ga. and Carolina play. I don't know who gets louder, the Ga. fans or the Carolina fans at those gatherings. Of course we will miss it this year, but I'd rather be with you all.

Dick, I hope you will bring those pictures with you to the reunion, and I'll bring a magnifying glass for those of us who need one.

Diane Harris (Moore)

Well, I'm sorry to say that I am almost as poor a student of football as I am of algebra, and those of you who were in Mrs. Moore's class with me know this means I don't know squat about either one. However, Dick and I are dyed in the wool 'Dawgs who have had proudly worn our red and black wherever we lived. Up here in Buckeye country it's been hard. We've had to pretend to care when OSU is playing, just to be polite. But we ALWAYS pull for the SEC team to win whenever they get matched up. Maybe you can take the guy and gal out of the South, but you will NEVER,EVER take the South out of the guy and gal! WOOF, WOOF, .....!

For those who couldn't attend the last planning meeting, Don provided us with some happy shots under "Reunion Planning". Enjoy.

Hope all of you are doing ok out there. It has been a stormy few days here in the South. Tropical Storm Fay left a lot of damage in her path in Florida and Georgia with a lot of rain, flooding, wind and tornados. I think many of us made up our rain deficit all at once. At our house in Marietta we had over 4 inches in our rain gauge, but that was a very small amount compared to many. I saw on the news that there were tornado warnings in Oglethorpe and Greene Counties last night. I'm praying that all of you and your families are safe and dry.

Gary, I loved those Words of Wisdom for Wednesday! I was smiling the whole time I was reading, so you have done a good deed today in making me smile. I could relate to many, but I won't say which. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.

Well Gary, you've done it again. Managed to make me smile and shed tears in a 5 minute sitting. I clicked on the "nostalgia" button and watched "do you remember these". I DO remember. Guess that's all I better watch for now, but 'Thanks for the Memories'!!!

Inez, thanks for all your work in getting the t-shirt ideas together and ordered.
Looking forward to seeing y'all all soon.

love,
connie

Diane Harris (Moore)

Hey, dear Connie. Your comment got me to check out Gary's "nostalgia" button too, and it does bring back lots of memories. I know the 60s were very volatile times, but I sure didn't know it at the time. To have been so close to a major university town, I didn't know a thing about all the crazy stuff that everyone says was going on at the time. My world revolved around OCHS, and it didn't take me long after graduation to realize how lucky we were to have somehow been protected from that other stuff. Some folks might have called us innocent or naive, but I call us blessed.

Connie Morgan (White)

I SO agree Diane! We were very blessed!!
I know y'all must be so excited that Chuck will be home from Iraq in just weeks. I'm sure it can't be soon enough. How excited he must be to see all his family, and especially to hold that new baby he's never held.

I look forward to checking out the rest of the nostalgia later.

love to all,
connie

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are doing well. Just wanted to remind you to get your t-shirt order in. They are going to look great. I hope everyone gets one. It will be a great memory of our 40th reunion.
Love Ya!
Inez

Tereesa Stevens (Minish)

I agree with Diane and Connie--we were truly blessed. When I look back on our high school days, every thing seemed so simple and I don't remember us having all the peer pressure that our children are/were faced with.

Diane I know you are counting the hours until your son gets home. I can't imagine what families have to go through when they have sons in such danger zones.

Thanks Inez for getting the shirt order together. Who do I need to pay and where do we need to pickup the shirts so we can wear them on Friday night.

I cannot believe that the reunion is finally here---it seemed when we started talking that it was such a long way off and now here it is----I can't wait.

Tessie

Honorable Gary - You have my vote for President!!! I admire you for taking time out of your busy schedule for our little reunion in September. If you need an old graphic designer in your administration, remember me.

My condolences to the Chandler family on the death of Mrs Sara Chandler. I never knew her or even knew there was a "Mrs Chandler" that taught at OCHS. It must have been before my time there. I would bet that her husband was probably a distant cousin of mine somewhere down the line.

It's hard to believe September is almost here and the reunion is just around the corner. Here's wishing all of you out there a Safe and Happy Labor Day Holiday Weekend!!! See ya soon.

Diane Harris (Moore)

Thanks, Connie and Tessie, for the well wishes for our Chuck. If all goes well, he should be enroute home to Colorado while our reunion is happening. We sure appreciate your kind prayers. He is only one of thousands, but he's ours.

Gary, I should know more about your platform before I vote for you, but then again, I think I'll do it just because you are an OGLETHORPE INDIAN! YAY! Actually, we really and truly just got in from the John McCain rally that was about 6 miles from us. It was just too close to us and promised to be too exciting for me to miss. Amazingly I somehow stayed out of trouble. Although he did give me a flag, a pin, and a mini-megaphone, I will still vote for you, Gary. It looks like those new tattoos of yours gained you some votes too!

And, alas, Mrs. Chandler. I remember her class well, for a kid I had never known before was seated right behind me. His name was Dick Moore. When she turned 95, I sent her a card telling her what a sentimental role she had played in our lives. I was so surprised when I received the sweetest card back from her. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

The countdown has begun! How will I wait?

Love,
Diane
