Gary, I'll vote for you!

2 weeks ---- I am SO excited about seeing everyone!

It was nice to see Alvin's update and the picture of his family.

I trust you all had a delightful weekend. Lanny joined the website this weekend - Welcome Lanny!! I had a chance encounter with Dale this weekend. I dare say we would have not recognized each other if not for our posted pictures. Great to see you Dale. I added an Announcement with a link to a recent article from AARP - "50 Reasons to Love Being 50+". Sometime we just need to be reminded. My campaign is going well since I can now identify my next nomination to the Supreme Court! Nothing like name dropping Dennis!! That just serves to remind me of all of the interesting individuals we have encountered through our years. I look forward to hearing more of those stories. Hope you all make it a GREAT week.

Thanks, Gary, for all the new info to ponder. I'll check it all out soon. I was also glad to see that Lanny has signed on for the reunion. It is fun to see updates from others as well. Matter of fact, I probably need to see if mine is still current. A lot can happen over the course of 4 or 5 months. Some I might even be able to talk about. Again, I'm so glad we will be continuing this site post reunion. There's a long, cold winter coming up here in Ohio, and visits with old friends will be like sunshine for my innards.

Dear friends, this time next week Dick and I will be driving south to see you. I can't believe that the time is actually so near! I just wanted to make a personal plea to anyone who may read this but who hasn't planned on coming to the reunion, to please change your mind. I am tickled that so many have responded, but I'm greedy and want everyone there. To those of you who have been helping, in both big and small ways, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now,everyone stay safe and healthy.

See you soon,
Diane

Hello again everybody. I thought I would re-visit the subject of getting together again AFTER the reunion. I certainly don't want to intrude on the ladies' plans to get together on a regular basis... I think that's great! But I was thinking there might be a few of us guys out there too that would like to join you once in a while... maybe on a semi-annual or annual basis. I for one have really enjoyed being back in touch with everyone and don't want to wait until a 50th Year Reunion to see you all again. It would not have to be anything fancy that would require all the planning and expense of a big reunion. To borrow some words from Ray... we could just get together and eat hot dogs and hamburgers and talk all day long. Sounds like fun to me. I would certainly be willing to make the drive from Marietta once in a while.

Blessings! Don

How my Saturday nights have changed from 40 years ago. Dick and I went to Sam's Club for dessert samples after supper. Those ladies catch on pretty quick to who the repeat samplers are, darn it. By the way, I recommend the turtle cheesecake.
I just had to sit down here AGAIN for absolutely no reason and just say "Hey". I had the treat of talking to two old (ahem, make that "long time") friends this week, and it was such fun. Hearing their voices was great, but seeing them in person will be fabulous!

Hope everyone is having a super weekend.

Sending you hugs,
Diane

It is nice to see that Mrs. Armour has joined us on the web site with a profile update of her last 40 years. Welcome, Mrs Armour! Thanks for being our teacher! We promise not to critique your grammar and spelling if your promise not to critique ours! I remember being a part of Mrs. Armour's Spanish II class my senior year. It consisted of four people: Gary, Ray, Jimmy Cunningham and me. We sat in the corner and I'm afraid to say we didn't always study Spanish. We look forward to seeing you again on Saturday, Mrs. Armour. God Bless You!

Hey Everybody!!!

We are on a SIX-day countdown and the clock is ticking!!!

I'm getting so excited I could just pee in my pants!!!

I just know that since we have had so much fun at the meetings - the reunion has got to be a blast. What I like most is, there's no pressure, just dress relaxed and enjoy the ride. I want to step back in time and remember the good ole days and then fast warp to the present and wonder "WHAT HAPPENED!" The ones who know it and choose not to make it will be sadly missed and miss out on a fun time. I pray for safe trips to all and look forward to seeing you at the reunion. Love, PeeWee

I too, cannot wait until the reunion. I hope that the ones of you that have to travel a great distance, that you will have a safe trip and that the weather is good to us.

I was so glad to see that Stephanie finally signed up to come to the reunion. Thanks again to everyone that has made this get together possible---it will not be fancy, but it will be relaxing and fun. Has anyone heard from Mrs. Pryor. I e-mailed her but I have not gotten a response.

See you Friday-------GO INDIANS!!!!

Hi All,
To Ray---loved your updated profile. You truly have made a difference to so many young people, and there is no greater acheivement than that.

To Mrs. Armour and Mrs. Crenshaw--delighted that you will be coming to Crawford! An already special occasion will be even more so because of your presence. Maybe others will surprise us and show up.

To everyone else--see you soon! Dick and I will tune in our oldies station and listen to it all the way home. It will set the tone for the weekend that we have been yearning for since February!

God bless each and everyone.
Diane

Good Morning Everyone,
Can you believe it is only a few days away from our 40th reunion?
T Shirts are in. I will be getting them to Ray today and he will try to get them to everyone that will be coming to the game Fri. I think they look great. It is just hard for me to believe it says 40th. I can't believe we are that old.
I can't wait to see everyone and Pee Wee I thought you had outgrown that pee in your pants. Should we change your name back? Ha! Just remember you brought it up. It is great to still be friends after all this time.
Love Ya!
Inez
I can still get T-shirts if anyone wants one.
Inez

Connie Morgan (White)

I am looking forward to seeing you soon!!!!!!!
I join Pee-Wee in that my excitement could cause me to lose some control of bodily functions ---- or is that our age that causes that??
So good to hear from Junior, Steve, Stephanie and Lanny. I'm glad Mrs. Armour and Mrs. Crenshaw will be coming.
Inez, thanks again for getting the shirts. Ray, should we come by your work and pick them up?
Janie called yesterday. She is busy working on table decorations.
Don, I had a notice in my P.O. Box tonight that I've received a package from you. Thanks for making and sending the banner, and I will get off in time to pick it up one evening.
A reminder that at the last meeing, several of us talked about the "dress" for Saturday, and all agreed that we are going CASUAL! We'll be there several hours and want to be comfortable.
I've visited this website many times and read and re-read the profiles and messages. (Gary, what happened to some of your pictures?) I could have not imagined the JOY that all of this has been. I do hope that we will all stay in touch and get together.
Be careful with your travels. Thanks to all who are making the effort to come!
with love,
connie

Hello everyone...can you believe we are down to only a few days before the great celebration!! I, too, hope that those of you who have to travel will have a safe trip. Pee Wee, don't drink anything before you leave home so that you have no accidents. I am looking so forward to seeing all of you again. We must do this more often. We now have 80 members/spouses, etc. and 5 teacher/spouses registered. Clyas and Marguerite Crenshaw, Sonya and Norman Armour, and Joan Moncrief seem to be looking as forward to this reunion as we are. I will be in touch with the Pryors and Myrt Carey again. Gilbert and Jean Underwood will be out of town, Bob and Mae Houser are sickly and probably will not be able to attend, and Kate and Aubrey Finch will be in Dillard, GA, celebrating her class reunion. They send their regrets and regards to all.

I see Sonya Armour almost every morning doing her daily walk. She stopped by the office this morning for a nice chat and a few lessons in grammar. Yes, Don, I remember well that HUGE Spanish II class that we were in. I reminded Sonya again this morning that I was able to exempt two courses in Spanish at UGA because of her excellent teaching!

When this is over, I hope that we will continue to update our profiles and perhaps add things that we just haven't had time to do yet. I am going to try to do that myself! Let's not say "when it is over" but "when it continues".

I have the t-shirts. Call me at 706-614-8382(Cell), 706-743-3680(Office), or 706-743-5780 and make arrangements to pick yours up, if you ordered one.

My Love and Highest Regards To All Of You,

Ray

Ray, I think this is a wonderful response! And I'm so happy that these teachers will be there. Everyone has just worked so hard, and now the harvest is coming in!

Much love to all. Happy Tuesday.

Connie and Diane – I was very moved by the “school story” updates on your profiles. As one of those “new boys” in school in the 11th grade, I came from Athens High School where I never quite fit in. I felt much more at home at OCHS. I was still painfully shy which kept me from getting to know you all even better… and asking for more dates too. The Good Lord helped me with all of that as the years passed and I met Liz, the most loving, affectionate person I have ever known. She turned me into a “hugger”. Being back in touch with all of you has been a true blessing to me. I feel like I have gotten to know some of you better these last few months than I did in high school. When I attended the planning meeting in August, it really was like being with family. So I urge any of you out there who haven’t made up your minds to attend the reunion to PLEASE COME! We have ALL changed. We are older and grayer and fatter, with more wrinkles and more aches and pains. But we are wiser too. Personal relationships are far more important than how we look or what we wear or what we drive. Swallow your pride and follow your hearts, and BE THERE! I assure you that you will be welcomed with open arms!

Love & Hugs,
Don

Don, I could have not said it any better than the invite you gave. If you do not come to this reunion you will be the looser. You still have time to get your reservation in. You are so right about how much wiser we are. Forget about all the other stuff. Who cares. It is just so nice to have gone to school with such a wonderful group of people. I cannot say enough about how much fun we have had planing this reunion. I am just sad that we did not do it sooner. I hope this is only the beginning of our future get togethers. Let us not wait until time for another reunion. I can't wait to see everyone.
Love to all,
Inez

When my daughters were little, they would catch me laughing as I watched them play. They'd say, "What ya' doin' Daddy?". I'd reply, "Makin' a memory darlin', just makin' a memory." Now I watch my grand children play and it brings back those wonderful memories of my daughters. This weekend I hope to revive some of the wonderful memories made during my school days and hopefully make some new ones to bring a smile to my face and a chuckle in my heart through the coming years. May God bless and be with you 'til we meet again - this weekend.

I agree with everyone that we should have done this a long time ago. I hope we can agree at this reunion to do it again in the near future. I attended Grandparents Day at Oglethorpe Elementary and Primary school last week and this week. It was really good to see some of our class members there withe their grandchildren. In Wright's room we had to bring a "show and tell" from our school days. We brought pictures, the little clay bowls that we made, girl scout uniforms, etc. It really brought back a lot of memories. Shirley Landers was there and told me that David was really excited about the reunion and he was on his way.

I have e-mailed Ms. Pryor but have not heard anything from her. I am excited about seeing Ms Moncrief and Ms. Crenshaw, Ms. Armour too, but I see her often in Crawford.

I think we will all have a wonderful time and I think Donald said it all when he said it didn't matter what we look like or what we drive or how much money we have in the bank.

I think that everyone in our class has been very successful and we were a pretty good group of folks
The ones that are traveling, I pray that you will have a safe trip.

If you want to sit outside any on Saturday, bring your lawn chair and enjoy the deck overlooking the lake at Bryan Park.

See you Saturday.
Tereesa

As the time draws closer to the reunion and I read your responses and profiles, I almost have cold chills. And most of you know that I never get cold. Seriously, we should have done this before now. Everytime Linda (Wheless) Young would ask me over the past several years when were we going to get a reunion together, I would say, let me get retired. Now that I am retired from the school, I have more time to spend on things like this, and I have enjoyed every moment of the planning meetings. For those of you who were not able to attend those meetings at Connie's home, if you haven't already guessed, we spent about 30 minutes planning each time and three hours or more talking and eating.

Sonya (Armour), how about we spend time making this response grammatically, symmetrically, and all those other correct things we all knew once upon a time??? Of course, you notice that I still use English and not much Spanish.

If anyone thinks of anything else I can do, please let me know. If I can't do it, I'll give it to someone else who has said the same to me!!

See you soon.

Love and Regards to you,
Ray

Well, at this point I don't have much else to say because my emotions have filled my brain and my heart. Thanks, Tessie, for suggesting those chairs. We will take that advice and throw a couple in the back of my car, just in case. That car by the way? Five years old with lots of miles, so it's a good thing that cars don't matter. I wouldn't be as happy to belong to this bunch of people if those things made a difference.

Well, I've gotta start packing my suitcase. Now, everyone be careful, whether you're flying, driving 2 miles or 2000, or walking. See you soon. Oh! Our son, Chuck, is flying as I write to Colorado to reunite with his family after being in Iraq! He gets to meet his little Garrett for the first time. Now, I can really, really, really have even more fun this weekend!

If y'all start feeling a squeezing sensation in your chest, don't worry, it's just me sending you a tight hug.

Love,
Diane
