Hi Classmates,

Why Inez ? Only God knows and we will ask Him to bring her to good health again. Thanks to all for updates and continue "praying without ceasing". Hopefully, this reminds us all what a thin line there is between life and death. May God Bless and Keep Inez and all the family and friends that love her and need her. She is definitely "a rose among thorns". Hopefully, God does not need another "rose" just yet. Love & hugs,

Judy

Pee Wee's email update of last evening arrived this morning and I wanted to post it for your prayerful conisderation.

Gary,
I got to see Inez today. She is still on the Surgical Critical Care Unit at Athens Regional. She is on a respirator and nonresponsive because of being in an induced coma state. They have postponed her surgery until Wednesday because she is still losing blood. She looked so pretty. No cuts or lacerations to her face but a little swollen. I told her family all her classmates were praying for her. The children's spirits appear stronger today than yesterday. God is great! They are not leaving her side and Henry is staying right with her.
All prayer warriors are needed for Inez right now. Her family is very thankful for all the prayers and it is strengthening to them, I can tell.
I will see her again tomorrow morning and let you know how she is doing. PeeWee

MORNING MATES!

WE START OUR PRAYERS AND END OUR PRAYERS IN THANKFULNESS

TO THE MASTER OF ALL CREATION. AND PRAY HE WILL SMILE HIS

BLESSINGS OF LOVE UPON ALL OF US.  MAY INEZ BE AT EASE AND

COME BACK STRONGER.

LAST NITE AS I WATCHED FOX NEWS.  I HEARD AND SAW FOR THE FIRST

TIME THE SATANIC MOCKERY THAT A HERO HAD TO CONTEND WITH WHILE

SPEAKING AT COLUMBIA UNIV.  PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THOSE

CHILDREN OR BETTER YET, EXPLAIN TO ME HOW WE AS A COUNTRY CAN

APPROVE OF their ACTIONS.  TO BE HONEST I'M SORRY TO SAY I WANTED

TO JUMP THRU THAT TV AND ATTACK THE FOOLS!  I CANNOT BELIEVE ANY

PERSON COULD BE THAT DISRESPECTFUL. THAT YOUNG MAN HAS BEEN TO

A POINT WHERE EVERYTHING HE IS WAS ON THE LINE.  AND TO THINK

HE DID IT SO THOSE IDIOTS COULD DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID.  FRANKLY,

IN THIS CASE, "FREE SPEACH" WAS TAKEN MUCH TO FAR.  I'M FEED UP TO MY

EYEBALLS WITH THESE INCONSIDERATE B------! I'M THANKFUL TO EVERYONE

OF THESE KIDS. THEY GIVE UP THEIR LIFE, THE SAFE COMFORT OF HOME, TO

SERVE.  GOD BLESS THEM AND I PRAY IT DOESN'T COME TO THE POINT

WHEN THEY HAVE TO PULL SOME  OF THEIR SORRY BUTTS OUT OF SOME

FIRE HERE ON OUR OWN GROUND!

SORRY GUYS BUT SOMETIMES THE STUPID LIBS TAKE IT JUST A LITTLE

TO FAR.  ITS TO MUCH LIKE WHAT I SAW WHEN I CAME HOME YEARS AGO!

I SUPPOSE SOME FOLKS NEVER LEARN.  ANYWAY, GOD BLESS AND THANK

GOD I'M FREE!!!

LATER,

Good Morning, Mates...

Our Classmate and Friend Inez was in my thoughts and prayers much of yesterday.  I was so shocked when I got word of the car crash.  It is indeed a sober reminder of our earthly mortality and a reminder that we can choose eternal life, spiritually.  Life can change in the blink of an eye.  You have expressed it well, Diane.  I am happy that our class has reconnected too and can reach out to one another during tough times like this.  I did not get to know Inez very well back in my two years at OCHS, but got to know her better during our reunion planning sessions and 2008 Class Reunion.  We have stayed in touch since then.  I often get e-mails from her, almost always of an uplifting, encouraging, spiritual nature... or sometimes just a good laugh.  I always know that it will be a message that will bring a smile to my face and make my day better.  She is a strong woman of faith even though she is hurting physically right now.

I know that there are many, many prayers being lifted up for Inez.  I have spread the word to Facebook Friends, Church Ministry friends, my own family, and many Brothers and Sisters in Christ all over the country.  Most of them do not even know Inez but are intervening with prayer on her behalf and asking God to heal her.  My prayers go out to Inez's family as well... and special prayers for Pee Wee too... her best friend and "sister"... I know you must be hurting as well.  I pray that Inez will be touched by the Hand of the Great Healer and Great Physician and restored to perfect health... in the name of Christ our Lord and Saviour... and for His Glory.  Amen.

Hi everyone,

I know we are all sad to hear the news about Inez. I communicate w/her often, she was maid of honor in my wedding. She & I often went home w/each other when we were growing up. We here in S.C. are lifting her & Henry up in prayer, as well as the rest of her family.

Gary & Don thank you for the information you are providing us. Please continue to keep us posted.

Don I have you and Liz in my prayers. I do hope the procedure is successful and she will get some relief.

I am thankful that we can keep in contact and share our lives w/each other.

Love to all

Kathy

I just sent the following email to everyone on file.

I just spoke with Pee Wee and she says doctors are encouraged by the improvements Inez has made.  Her blood pressure is stabelizing and she is getting stronger.  It appears that the only injuries she sustained were adominal.  They thought she might have had a broken leg but that appears to have been ruled out.  If she continues to improve, she will have surgery tomorrow.  The doctors said 36 and 48 hours are the critical thresholds - she made it over the first hump.  Please continue to remember Inez in your prayers as she is not out of the woods yet but praise God she is still here!

Thank you, thank you for this encouraging update.

Yes, Gary... thanks for the update on Inez.  It is very encouraging to hear of some improvement.  Please keep us posted.

And for those who may not be on Facebook... I will be taking Liz to Marietta Surgical Center at 7:00 am tomorrow for a Cervical Epidural procedure on her neck that we pray will help to relieve some of the pain she experiences in her neck and back.  This will be an outpatient procedure.  We would be grateful for your prayers that God would guide and direct the doctors and medical staff through a successful treatment that will bring healing and relief to Liz's body.

HELLO MATES!

JUST A LITTLE MORE BAD NEWS SINCE THESE SEEM TO BE THE DAYS.

ROY NATIONS HAS BEEN LIVING DOWN THIS WAY FOR A FEW YEARS.

ANYWAY, HE HAS BEEN SICK FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS SO

LAST WEEK HE WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSP WITH PNEUMONIA. HE

DIDN'T SEEM TO BE GETTING ANY BETTER SO YESTERDAY THEY TRANSFERRED

HIM TO OCONEE REGIONAL IN MILLEDGEVILLE. AFTER TESTING THEY

HAVE DETERMINE HE HAS LUNG CANCER.

LET'S ALL REMEMBER THAT HERO IN OUR PRAYERS, PLEASE. IF YOU

GUYS DON'T KNOW ROY WAS AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART

AND SILVER STAR FOR GALLANTRY DURING THE BATTLE OF KHE SAHN

IN 2/68. HE WAS ONE BAD A-- MARINE.

02/22/11 04:52 PM #2043

Connie Morgan (White)

Jim, thanks for letting us know about Roy, but I am sorry to hear that news.   We so wanted him to come to the reunion.              Do you know an address so that anyone that wants to can send a card or note?

I am thankful to all of you who have served in the military!   Heros all.

Don, I hope that Liz does well tomorrow and has good results.

02/22/11 09:16 PM #2044

Diane Harris (Moore)

Yes, Gary, thanks for passing along the latest about Inez. Oh, how I pray that she gets through this!

Seems to be much going on at this time. Don, I read about Liz and her upcoming procedure. Relief from pain would be such an answer to prayer.

Jim, thanks for letting us know about Roy Nation. I always thought a lot of Roy. He was always a gentleman to me, but I had heard that he had some horrific experiences in Viet Nam. I did not know about his awards, though. Like Connie, I'd love to know how we could send some cards.

I had an endoscopy today, and they kept apologizing for the needle pricks, and other minor discomforts. I readily told them about my friend Inez who is suffering right now, and that I would be ashamed of myself if I complained over a little needle pinch. That's the truth, too. Knowing what Inez, Liz, Roy, and others are going through puts any grunts and groans I have in perspective, so that I don't dare complain.

Sending everyone heartfelt warm fuzzies....

I missed the phone call from Pee Wee last evening but she did leave a voice message that they did operate on Inez last evening.  All appeared to go well but guarded long term prognosis.  The next 24 to 48 hours will be the most telling.  Continue to keep her and her family in your prayers.  I'll continue to post updates as I receive them.

02/24/11 01:06 PM #2046

Donald Chandler

Gary... thanks for the update on Inez.  I will continue to pray for her and her family and friends... and ask others to pray as well.  Please keep us posted.

Liz's Cervical Epidural procedure at Marietta Surgical Center went fine yesterday.  But it will be a few days before we know if it produces any positive results.  This afternoon, I am taking her down to Emory Medical Center for an appointment to followup treatment for her Kidney and Bladder infections.  I would be grateful for your continued prayers for Liz and her many health issues.

Jim... I am so sorry to hear the news of Roy Nation's lung cancer.  May God Bless him, for both his service to this country, and for a healing for this terrible disease.  I do hope they caught it in time that they can treat it effectively.  It is tough to deal with, for both the patient and family and friends.  I know from experience... having to deal with Ron's lung cancer and death.  Cancer is so hard to deal with, but medical treatments are getting better and better, and many people survive if they catch it in time.  Keep us posted, Jim.

Hello Everyone!  Wanted to give you all an update on Inez.  I spoke to Henry this morning and she had a restful night.  Her vital signs are stable and it is encouraging that she is going into her next 24 to 48 hours of improvement since her last surgery.  Henry stated that she is opening her eyes at times and appears to be trying to cough but she is still on a respirator.  God is a Miracle Maker and He is with her.  Many prayers are being lifted up and we all need to continue to pray for her and her family.

I have talked with so many of you who love her as a friend just as I do.  Janie, Connie, Dennis, Ray, Judy, Joy, Kathy, Gary and many others who are anxiously awaiting news on the Message Forum.  Gary is such a blessing to our class to keep up this incredible message center.  Our classmates can now be informed of all the news and share the stories of our life's journey one by one.  And most importantly, we can reach out to one another at times of need.

Donald, my prayers are with you and Liz.  Roy, hang in there, it's a tough battle but God is so wonderful and He will see you through.

One Day At A Time, Sweet Jesus - That's All We're Asking From You! - God Bless You All!

I spoke with Inez's daughter, Robin, this afternoon and she stated that Inez was holding her on.  Her vital signs were stable at the moment.  They did have to give her 2 pints of blood today so that should help make her stronger.  The team tried to give her less pain medicine and they said she started  shaking her head.  I'm gonna take that as "oh no you don't, I'm still in too much pain."  I know my friend and she hates doctors and medicines and all that stuff.  She argues with me about an aspirin.  She is a firm believer in natural herbs and vitamins and has her own personal consultant for anything that ails her.  She is always getting on my case because I take tooooooo many pills.

I'm planning on going to the hospital to see her tomorrow.  I do hope she can open her eyes and look me right in the eyes and say, "I'm ready to go home now" or I may just take her out myself.   I'm missing her so much already.  Can't wait for us to go shopping together.  That is one of her favorite things to do.  She is very good at it too.  She can show you seven different articles that would fit together to make one incredible sharp looking suit.  And she only shops for sale items, that way you can buy so much more.  I'm hoping when I see her and ask if she wants to go to Chico's - she'll get up out of that bed and walk right out.

I know this is one friend in the class of 1968 that won everyone's heart.  Please keep her and her family in your strongest prayers.  Love, PeeWee

Good morning, mates.

Thanks, Pee Wee, for the update on Inez.  At church yesterday, several people asked me how "my classmate" was doing.  They have responded to the prayer requests I sent out last week and are just a few of the many who are praying for Inez that do not even know her.  It will surely be good news when she is able to communicate again with her family and friends.

Thanks for the prayers for Liz too.  She is feeling a little better since that Cervical Epidural last week.  Our Annual Missions Festival kicked off yesterday and Liz was singing in the choir.  She was a bit anxious because the choir had learned a new song that they sang for the congregation IN SPANISH!!!  Liz was afraid she would forget the words, but she did fine, and the choir sounded great.  Our missionaries from around the world are here to celebrate the week with us.  I was taking photos constantly yesterday from the 9:00 Sunday School Classes (our missionaries were guest speakers), to the Sunday Workship Service (guest speaker Mark Rutland, President of Oral Roberts University) to the reception after church (foods and exhibits from around the world).  After four and a half hours of carrying my camera bag on my shoulders and cameras around my neck, I was worn out.  My Sunday afternoon nap was FANTASTIC!

Liz and I went to dinner and a movie Friday night.  We saw "The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader"... the latest in the C. S. Lewis series.  I have enjoyed all of them.  We saw the "3D Digital Version" of this one which was fun to see... nice 3D effects.  It seems that more and more movies are doing a digital 3D version these days.  Have any of you seen any of them?

By the way... I DID NOT watch the Oscars last night.  Just for kicks I caught a few minutes of the "Red Carpet Preview" beforehand... and to be honest many of those liberal Hollywood elites are not even living in the real world.  It made me sick watching them all prance around in their designer fashion gowns, Armani suits, and million dollar jewels.  Just once I would have loved to see someone step up and say they were wearing pants from Sears or a dress from Walmart.

Have a great week mates.  Reporting live from the real world... this is Don.

Continuing to pray for Inez, her family and friends.  PeeWee, I know that y'all have always been especially close, so know you are being prayed for also.

I very much appreciate the updates.

Don, I hope Liz continues to improve.

All of you take good care.

Visited with Inez and her daughters and Henry today.  Inez is holding her on and this is the eighth day since her accident.  She is a fighter and giving it all she's got.  Her heart rate has been a little irregular the past couple days but other vitals are okay.  Thanks for the prayers lifted up for her and her family.  Keep on keeping on with all your prayers.

I'll keep Inez and Roy in my prayers.  Thanks for the updates, Pee Wee and Jim.  Please keep us posted on both.

And a note for Gary... I have noticed for a while that the calendar/clock for our forum posts is off... our posts are dated about 13 hours in the future.  For example, I'm posting this on 3/1/11 at 4:46 pm, and it will be dated as 3/2/11, 5:46 am tomorrow, about 13 hours from now.   Anyone else notice this?  Anything that can be done to correct it?  It is rather confusing.

I have been OOC for the last couple of days but kept check on postings.  Thanks to all for the updates. Please continue to post information as available - we all care.  Don, looks like the posting times issue was resolved.  We had a Church Family Retreat at Calloway Gardens over the weekend and had an opportunity to reconnect with some friends we hadn't seen in 30 years!  Very appreciative for the weekend even if I did get sick on Sunday.  Nothing new here in the Classic City, just waiting for Spring to arrive.  I came across this posting and thought you might all enjoy - especially Dick and Diane.  Later.

Calendar/Clock resolved?  NOT!  Maybe it's just MY computer, but the forum shows that your last post, Gary, was 3/2/11, 11:13pm... 13 hours in the future.  And my post is 3/2/11, 11:37 pm.   Maybe I'm the only one with this issue, but my computer has the correct time on it's internal clock control panel... 10:37 am.    ????

Don,

After much head scratching, I found something for you to try - and everyone else too.  Go to "Edit Profile" and at the bottom of the page, you can select your time zone preference.  Don't remember having that option before.  I set the site preference to Eastern.  Hopefully this will put all of us in the same time zone - except for the poor folks in Ohio!!  Later.
