Robert was my neighbor and one of my best friends. I'll never forget our bus rides to school and back while we were at Pine Springs. A group of us would sit at the back and sing the whole way. And I'll never forget the year that he gave me a box of Valentine candy.

I think Robert was hit by a car as he was walking beside a road. I remember that Buick Wildcat him Mom drove. Robert would completely hide the speedometer needle. Had to be going >140 mph. I never figured out what Robert was all about. We worked at the Tyler Theater together.

He was just one of those people who got along with everyone. Proud of who he was and had a great time proving it.

Robert was restless but a likable person. I never will forget in about 1970 or 71 when James Beard & I were going to North Texas in Denton, Robert just pops in one weekend saying he was headed to California. Said he had a relative out there and needed gas money to make the trip. So he pulls out this box of 8 track tapes & tries to sell everything he had. Since he had some tapes we didn't have, we just had to contribute to the cause. I'm sorry to hear about his accident. Didn't know how he died.
