Dennis Charles Arakelian

ARAKELIAN Dennis Charles, former owner of Red Barn Furniture, Wayne, NJ, passed away on November 1, 2009 after a short battle with stomach cancer. Dennis was born September 2, 1947 in Hoboken to Ina Mae Bingham and Fred Arakelian. He lived in Hoboken until 1962 when he moved to Bogota where he graduated from Bogota High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Navy shortly following graduation. He served on an atomic submarine, the USS Skate and was honorably discharged in 1970.From 1976 to 1978 he was an assistant manager for Reliable Furniture in Paramus and various other locations. This is where he met his future wife, the former Karen Intrabartolo of Wayne with whom he opened Red Barn Furniture in September of 1978. They married in 1981 and later divorced. Dennis was known for his sensitivity and quick wit, incredible memory and ability to sell, his love of music and being an avid NY Giants fan. He is survived by his son Dennis Arakelian of Montville, sister Gail Arakelian of Bogota, brother James Arakelian of Riveredge, niece Marissa Arakelian and nephew Timothy Arakelian both of Riveredge. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, November 22 at Jacksonville Chapel, 264 Jacksonville Rd, Lincoln Park, NJ and will continue at Red Barn (now Uptown Home) 867 Black Oak Ridge Rd, Wayne immediately following the church service.
