Obituary

Donald Wade “Don” Dimsdale, Sr. passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 11th, 2021. He was 78 years old and a lifelong resident of Newton county; he was born, and spent his childhood in Porterdale, and he resided in Newborn at the time of his death. He is remembered by his family, friends, and members of the community for his uncanny ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face with his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was a talented musician who, for years, hosted and performed music on Friday nights at Ma and Pa’s Opry House, and later, at various venues with his band, the Fabulous Jades. Don worked for United Casualty Insurance until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Mary Lou Dimsdale; brother, Billy Dimsdale; brother-in-law, Steve Norman; and nieces, Jill Dimsdale and Amy Dimsdale. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Dimsdale; his children, Donald Wade Dimsdale, Jr., Michelle Lawson and her husband, Bobby, Cheryl Payton, Troy Dimsdale, and his wife, Lisa; step daughter, Angie Godfrey and her husband, Lane; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Rita Norman; sister-in-law, Kathy Dimsdale; and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Dimsdale will be held at 3 o'clock, Monday, March 15, 2021 at Central Church, 11157 City Pond Rd, Covington, GA 30014. The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm prior to the service on Monday at the church.  Entombment will follow at the Chapel Mausoleum at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
