I grauated from Grady Hospital Nursing School in 1963; Ga. State University with a BSN in 1972; Medical College of Georgia with a MSN in 1975. My professional career has been in Pyschiatric Nursing. I was a professor at various Universities i.e... Georgia State University in Atlanta, MCG in Augusta, Belmont College in Nashville, and Floyd College in Rome, Ga. My practice has been in various Pyschiatric Hospitals i.e... Emory, Crawford Long, Grady, and presently I work at the VA Medical Center in Augusta. While living in Nashville, I began working on a Doctorate in Couseling at Vanderbilt University and I continue to work as a private counselor. In 1976, I married Jack Fuqua, who was a Methodist Minister with a Doctorate in Counseling from Vanderbilt University. We shared an office as private counselors. We were happily married for 32 years until his passing in 2008. We have one son, Robert Fuqua (27), who is finishing seminary this fall. Rob teaches and coaches football at a private Christian School while he attends Seminary. The birth of my son, Rob and the day of my marriage to Jack have been the highlights of my life. Their sense of humor and positive outlook on life have been a great encouragement to me as I continue going forth in life. I think of our 1960 class members often and still draw strength from some of the fun days and also some of the more serious times.
