All I can say is "Amen" and "I agree" with all the comments about the reunion. It was wonderful, wonderful to see you!!!!!!! The laughter, sharing stories and memories, catching-up on each other's lives, the entertainment, the remembering those no longer with us, getting to see some of our teachers, getting to go thru the school, celebrating Georgia beating South Carolina, the delicious food, the hugs, the happiness, and on and on and on. I am so blessed to count you not only as classmates, but also as friends. And the spouses were great too... Just fit right in and seemed like "old friends".
I am looking forward to seeing the picture and write-up that Diane is supposed to do for the Echo. (and yes, of course I will cut it out and save it)
Again, to all who came, thank you!! To all who planned and worked, thank you!!
Gary, I enjoyed the updated "then and now"! I would greatly appreciate you putting the pictures together! Just let us know what we need to do about paying for supplies and postage.
While it is fresh in our minds, maybe folks can start thinking about and sharing ideas of what y'all would like to do next time.
Well, dear ones, thank you for more sweet memories. Please stay in touch.
with love,
connie

Gary, I would greatly appreciate you getting all the pictures together and compiling a DVD. You will need to estimate how much it would cost you to do this, and post the amount so everyone can send you the money for this wonderful memory.

I got a Currents Carnival Cruise Line magazine today and it mentions people celebrating their 3oth and 45th class reunion. I don't care whether we do something fancy or just another plain get togehter, we just need to do it again sooner than later.

Connie, I hope that you are feeling better. Diane I hope that you didn't have any wind damage.

Judy Stewart (Findley)

Yes, Gary, I appreciate your offer to put the pictures together & will be glad to pay towards that. And, Tessie, I agree, soon than later, would be best and it does not matter to me what we do. Just being together was great & I would like "more of it". I'm back to my world this week & it is good, even better than before, because of the sweet memories from the weekend. I still did not get to talk to everybody, you know, a real conversation. And, Ray, if we do choose the cruise, I'll be glad to get Linda some drugs (all legal, of course). I don't think we should wait a long time because health problems come so quick sometimes. I hope all have returned home safely & may we all carry on doing "our best". Love to all,
Judy

It's Friday night and when I came home this evening I saw several trucks and cars down at the clubhouse. It made me kinda sad... Last week-end was just so great to see y'all....I just wasn't quite ready for it to be over. You are in my thoughts, prayers and sweet memories.

I think Mr. Bob Morgan's class was having their reunion this weekend. I know that they can not possible have as much fun as we did. It was a wonderful weekend and I like Connie felt a little sad tonight when I didn't have the group to get together with.

I hope that everyone will always have fond memories of our 40th!!

Hi to All!

Dick and I got back to Ohio last night (Fri.) and had only minor damages from the wind. Some broken limbs and a downed fence, etc. but our good neighbors had already done some debris removal. Our power was only off for 24 hours, but thousands in the area are still out, and trees are down all over. Our house was made available to those who had no water, etc., and we were happy that one family took us up on the offer. Only our TV cable remains out, and I dare not complain about such trivia.

It was so hard for us to come down off last weekend's cloud, and get back to just visiting with family the rest of the week. Everyone wanted to know how it went, and the one word we kept using more than any others was "perfect". I loved every hug, every song, every long forgotten memory, and every person for showing up. Now that we are home I am so eager to really sit down and review pictures and catalog all those memories. Why, Dick and I even felt 18 again for a brief moment in time!

My deepest thanks to all of you, and to our dear teachers who joined us. One of my only regrets is that I did not spend more time with them.

Hoping each of you has a good weekend. May our memories of last weekend inspire us to stay in touch from now on.

Lots and lots of love,
Diane

Hello to everyone, here I am again at almost midnight still viewing the website and enjoying all of the memories of last weekend. Tereesa, I agree that the two class reunions held this weekend that I know of can not possibly have had as good a time as we did. I went through the list and, although I spoke to every single one, I did not get to really talk to a lot of people. We have to keep this going so that we can all have time to talk to each other.

I think I have already mentioned this but Sonja Armour stopped by my office Monday and Tuesday to say what a good time she and Norman had. When I called Kenneth Pryor on his birthday Tuesday the 16th, he and Betty Jo were still talking about the good time they had. By the way, he was out of the dog house for keeping her out so long! Mrs. Crenshaw called on Thursday the 18th to say what a good time she and her husband, Clyas, had. She said everything was just great!! She said they had such a good time and enjoyed the food and fellowship so much that they left and did not offer to pay. She wanted to know how much they owed. I will tell her that their presence alone was worth more than they could pay!! I just pray that I am able to go to a reunion at the age of 86 (and didn't she look great!) Of course, Joan Moncrief enjoyed it also. (By the way, her great niece, Ferron, works at the Ford place in Crawford).

Diane and Dick, I have viewed the pictures that you have made available to us, and they are so good. Thank you for doing this. Let us know how much we owe you for doing such a fantastic job!! I am glad that you arrived home safely and found only minimal damage.

Thanks to Gary for agreeing to consolidate all the images that were taken.

Thanks to Connie for opening her home to us for the last several months to plan, to Janie for her creativity in decorating the club house, to everyone who helped decorate, to Tereesa and Linda for all they did, to Kay for keeping me reminded of what I was supposed to do, to Kathy and Rabun for their singing which I am sure touched everyone's soul and heart, to Pee Wee, Dale, and David for entertainment, to Brenda and Roger Smith, for the delicious food, to everybody else who helped in any way, and to all who attended, which made this 40th Class Reunion absolutely GRAND!!!

I feel like I just attended a family reunion like we use to have many years ago. Remember those, Diane, Kathy, Linda, Kay?? How did our teachers deal with 5 cousins in the same class?

I love you folks like family,

Ray

Ray, you said it so well!! I did not get to talk to everyone enough either.. I continue to check this site daily (usually more than once), and am so pleased when someone has written something. I, too, loved looking @ Dick's pictures.
Ray, do you have the teacher's addresses? Some do not e-mail, and it would be nice to send a card or note sometimes. Thank you for contacting them.
I must hush and get to work now. My dear friends, you are on my mind and in my heart. I hope you all have a good week, and that your memories of OCHS 1968 bring a smile to you.
I love you.

I just wanted to add my thanks for everyone's hard work also. I was bless by just being a part of everything. Special thanks to Dick for uploading the photos. That is a neat way to share all of the pictures. If anyone else wants to do the same thing, let me know and I'll post a link on the Home Page (just a little easier to navigate). Connie, you should be able to view the teacher's addresses under their profiles on the Classmate Profiles page. They are listed as Guests at the bottom of that page. Hope everyone had a blessed weekend!

I don't have a cotton pickin' thing to say that hasn't already been said, but reading all the great comments left by others just moved me to say "Hi" and "Amen".

Ray, I couldn't be prouder to claim kin to you and the others on the list, and humbled that you actually claim ME. I have also added Donald to my cousins list, not that I'm bragging or anything. (But I am)

I'll try and get that little article written post haste, and though I'm happy to take a stab at it, it's clear that any number of you could do a better job. Thanks, though, for your vote of confidence, and since our cable is still out from the storm I have one less distraction. Those educational PBS specials can make me lose track of time!

Again, I ditto all the praises and thanks stated in previous posts. (Insert applause)

Heartfelt hugs to all,
Diane

Good Morning All! I've continued to try to update the website and I think I have a yearbook picture of everyone except David O'Kelley. Can anyone out there help me find a picture of him? Current pictures have also been added to the profile pages, including teachers, for almost all who attended the reunion. I think I'm only missing a couple of teachers. I hope you all continue to use and enjoy the site. Thanks for your contributions.

Two elderly couples were enjoying friendly conversation when one of the men asked the other, "Fred, how was the memory clinic you went to last month?"
"Outstanding," Fred replied. "They taught us all the latest psychological techiniques-visulization, association-it made a huge difference for me."
"That's great! What was the name of the clinic?"
Fred went blank he thought and thought, but couldn't remember.
Then a smile broke across his face and he asked, "What do you call that flower with the long stem and thorns?"
"You mean a rose?"
"Yes, that's it!" He turned to his wife. . ."Rose, what was the name of that clinic?"

Howdy Partners! We are back from Texas and had a wonderful visit with some of my family in Dallas/Fort Worth and some of Liz’s family in the beautiful Hill Country of Kerrville near San Antonio. We celebrated our 26th Wedding Anniversary and had a little adventure too. I was nearly attacked by an ostrich on a Wildlife Ranch and had a taste of a new dish for me – porcupine meatball soup (delicious!). We had lunch on Sunday in a San Antonio Saloon (but we did pray before our meal). We had no travel problems and gas was plentiful with lower prices in Texas than they are in Georgia. We got back home to Marietta late yesterday to find gas stations out of fuel and long lines at those that had any supply at all.

I have enjoyed catching up on all the great comments on the Reunion. It is definitely not a question of “if” we get together again but just a matter of “how soon”. I can’t wait to see you all again. I’ll work on that reunion photo CD next week and get it to Gary ASAP. Thanks for the extension, Gary! I really enjoyed Dick’s great pictures on the website! “Thumbs Up” Dick! And I’m glad to hear that you and Cousin Diane had minimal damage from the storm.

And thanks again to all of you who worked so hard on this reunion…and there were many! And thanks to everyone who came! Have a great weekend everybody!

Love & Hugs,
Don

Hi!Don, we are glad you are back from the wild west. I have been to Kerrville, and it is a charming place. I just wish I could have been there when the blue bonnets were in bloom. Porcupine meatball soup? That's a delicacy I have never enjoyed. I'm still trying to promote grits up here. I'm happy to say that I was able to get more than a few friends to jump aboard the grits bandwagon once I told them to stop putting sugar on them! Oh, and happy 26th anniversary! May you have many, many more.

Gary, keep those jokes coming. Any joke I catch onto is a joke I like.

Everyone have a great weekend. Dick and I are heading to D.C. next week on business (his, not mine). I think I will storm capitol hill and knock some congressional heads together. Watch the news.

Love to my oldest, bestest buds--the class of '68
Diane

Don, glad you made it back safely but why didn't you just bring us some of that cheap gas? You probably could have paid for the trip reselling it! Porcupine meatball soup? That's a new one on me. Is it proper to pick your teeth with the quills when finished?
Diane, PLEASE get them straightened out in Washington!!! I hope you enjoy your trip. I enjoyed the sights while stationed there - just didn't seem to have enough time to see everything. I just heard on the radio that Dennis's DC connection (Justice Thomas) is in town for the football game tomorrow. I guess Dennis will be attending the game with him!! I'll look for him on the little screen. I'll try to keep the jokes coming, but please forgive me if I repeat some - did I say that already? Anyway - Have a great weekend.

Amen Don! Tis a sad day in Athens after that Alabama game last night. I still love those dawgs tho!

Speaking of sad, I had my 3 grandchildren here this week-end (now that was great, not sad!), but we walked down to the pond to feed the ducks... We went up on the back deck of the clubhouse, and as I looked in the doors at the chairs stacked up around the walls, I thought about the recent laughter and talking and hugging and good time in there, and I did feel some sadness that it is over. But until the time that we get together again, it is great to have this website to stay in touch! I really enjoy reading your entries on the "message forum".

I hope you all have a great week.
love,
connie

HI GUYS,

It's Sunday night and I should be in church but decided to check up on my friends instead. I've loved reading every response from you, and I too feel a little let down now that we've all gone our separate ways.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to relate a conversation I "overheard" when my husband, Jim, was on the phone with one of his guy friends. It went something like this: "Yes, we went to Athens Friday night and then on to Teresa's 40th high school class reunion on Saturday. It was AWESOME dude. I've been to several of my reunions and they were a total bore, but not this one. I think I had as much fun at this reunion as anybody there. I hated to leave." Now friends, how was that as a testimonial?

I miss you all and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. To each one, stay healthy and happy, and let's all count our blessings that we had such wonderful kids to grow up with. Let's do it again soon. OKAY?

Love,

Teresa

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEPHANIE!!! It was so good to see you again at the reunion after 40 years! And your sister Susan too. Let's not wait another 40 years to get together again (we will all be 98 year-old party animals then). And thanks for educating me on just what an ESOL teacher is. Have a great day today!

Love & Birthday Hugs,
Don

Teresa, I'm not surprised at Jim's response. He seems like a super guy from the little time we talked. I know most of the spouses felt a little lost but I was happy some of them could join in the fun. Next time I hope we can get to know them a little better and share with them all they missed not growing up with their spouse!!! Or maybe we should make a pact to NOT tell what we were like growing up. I hope they all enjoyed it enough to come back. I'll try to get Sherron to not be such a wallflower next time. HA!!!!! By the way, who is in charge of planning the next get together, other than in court with Dennis, that is??

Elizabeth "PeeWee" Brooks (Fountain)

Hello Everyone!

My, My, how time goes by so quickly!! You would not believe my life's story since the reunion so I'm not gonna try to explain. It's been surreal is all I can say.

I want to put my 2 cents in about the reunion. IT WAS THE BEST EVER!!! NO OTHER SCHOOL, ETC. COULD TOP WHAT WE ALL ACCOMPLISHED AT THIS REUNION. I'm so glad we kept it simple so more folks would participate. After seeing majority of the class members I remember what a humble group we were and are and always will be. That was the secret ingredient to our reunion. When you go down the profile list you will understand what I'm saying. We are all simple people with simple lives.

My thanks to everyone who helped put it together. I had some doubt about the time frame being from 1 o'clock in the afternoon until 10 or 11:00 p.m. that night. I just couldn't imagine what in the world would we talk about for so long. But, the funny thing is, it could have gone on longer if our health and bodies would have held up. WE, the Class of 1968, kept the MOMENTUM of that reunion going for more than 10 hours (not counting Friday night) and no one blinked an eye. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER FOLKS!!! I can't stop bragging about how good it was and how many wonderful people showed up. Look at the group picture, we did it!!! WE DID IT!!! I can only hope that any other class before and after us, at Oglethorpe County High School, could have a reunion half as good.

It was a group effort and it was a success. I look forward to our next one. I pray for God's blessings on each and everyone of you and your families. Please take care and let's all meet again someday soon. Stay in touch. "I Will Always Love You" PeeWee Brooks
