Fred Witt is a 1972 graduate of Lincoln Southeast. He was involved in gymnastics, musicals and Court Choir. Fred was recognized as an outstanding alumnus at LSE in 2008 and recognized by both the UNL College of Business and College of Law during Masters Week 2008. In 2017, he was inducted into the Lincoln Southeast Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1970 Gymnastics Team.

Fred graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Business Administration, earned a J.D. at the University Of Nebraska College Of Law, received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University and completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Wharton School of Business. He served as a law clerk for a judge at the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C.

Fred provides business consulting services to operators and investors using LLCs. He is a recognized authority on the tax aspects of LLCs and debt restructurings. His commitment to professional development includes fifteen years as a principal at Deloitte Tax LLP. Fred is active in Washington, D.C. tax policy matters and served as Vice-Chair of The Real Estate Roundtable’s Tax Policy Advisory Committee. He is a certified specialist in taxation (Arizona Board of Legal Specialization, State Bar of Arizona) and a frequent speaker on topics such as tax reform, having presented over 400 speeches before professional organizations. He has been quoted on federal tax matters in articles appearing in Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal.

In addition to co-authoring two professional tax publications, Fred has authored three non-fiction books inspired by his professional training and as a single dad of three amazing kids. His first novel, Partnership of Crime, stems from his career as a nationally recognized Phoenix-based tax attorney.

The Lincoln Southeast teachers who had a great influence on his life include Art Hillman, Frank Solich and the late Wally McNaught. Frank encouraged Fred to set high goals and take on the challenge of a bigger stage while Wally, through acts and deeds, showed how to live a life of respect, humility and accountability. Art always said “you can do it!”

Fred appeared in an infomercial on The Golf Channel and was featured in an article on golf fitness in The New York Times, but he’s not a very good golfer.

Fred has three children, Aaron, Tyler and Olivia. Since the 4th grade, his best friend is Scott Bloom.
