Phil Kammerlohr

Reverend Phil Kammerlohr died March 18, 1989 while serving at St John's Lutheran Church in Beatrice, Nebraska. Phil graduated from UNL and went on to seminary at Luther Seminary in St Paul, MN. After graduating seminary, Phil served a short while at Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln before being called to serve in Liberal, Kansas. After 4 years in Liberal, Phil was called to serve at St John's in Beatrice.
Phil lived with Marfan Syndrome, a disorder of the connective tissue in the body. While on a youth outing in Hastings Phil sat down for his meal and suffered an Aortic Aneurysm and passed away.
Phil's father lived with the same disorder and passed away eleven months after Phil. Phil's mother, Lois, now resides in Beatrice where she works with the food pantry at St. John's.

It is amazing how we think we know people and really we don't. I knew Phil from grade school thru high school not once knowing that he had plans to join the ministry.
 
Maybe we should all take a few minutes to learn more about all our friends, past and current. We have all touched each others lives in one way or another. Maybe we should let them know how much they meant to us more often that once every 10 years. Reunions should be life long.
 
I hope this little note on one of our class mates has helped.
