Scot Powell

Scot D. Powell (70) of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away February 19, 2025 after a series of health complications. He was born May 24, 1954 to Homer and Gretchen (Nelson) Powell. He was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where he went on to get a bachelor’s degree in Engineering at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Soon after graduating, he moved to Kansas City to work for Honeywell FMT. He retired after working for Honeywell for 40+ years. In Kansas City, he met the love of his life, Rosanne M. Sonnenmoser. They married September 17, 1994. He was heavily involved in the Welsh Folk Dance Society of Greater Kansas City and represented Wales in the Ethnic Enrichment Commission.

When not occupied by work or children, he enjoyed traveling, exploring new recipes, and sharing stories of his many experiences. He was an avid sports fan; you could often find him watching various sports and tuning into almost every Nebraska football game. He also made time for his interest in genealogy and ham radio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rosanne. He is survived by brothers Kevin and Mark Powell; children Heather Daise, Nathaniel (Cree) Daise, Rhianna (Zach) Rice, Kristen, Rhys, and Ian Powell; grandchildren, Damien, Nathaniel, Promise, Lola, and Jaxson.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 2-4pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 2400 E US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
