Leslie Brown (Lewis)
I don't remember seeing Doug much in high school at Southeast but more in junior high at Pound. I always thought he was such a nice person, soft spoken and kind. Sorry to hear of his passing.
Anne Alexander (Wagner)
Doug Umberger had a contagious laugh and his smile could light up a room. He was in several of my classes in high school, and I was saddened to learn at our last reunion that his light had gone out...
Cindy Nielsen (Buethe)
I went to grade school, middle school, and high school with Doug. He did have an infectous smile, and a kind, gentle, shy way about him. I heard of his passing many years ago, but he still comes to mind occassionally, and I can always picture his smile.
Tom Olson
Doug passed away in his sleep in 1995. He was out of town on business at the time. He had an MBA from UNO and worked as an administator of a nursing home in Wichita Kansas. The suspected cause of death was a cardiac arrhythmia. We was married to Deb, a East grad, and had 3 children , all of whom still live in Wichita.
Tom Sellner
Doug and I shared a few classes together. He was a very nice, kind, and helpful guy. I didn't know he had passed away. I'm sorry to hear that. He was a genuine human being, not a phoney.

Doug was my best friend in Jr. High and early high school. When I heard of his passing , I called his Dad and we had a really great talk. I always liked being at his house and his parents were so nice. Doug was a true man of peace and humility. I think of him every time I pass his home in College View.
