Wilson Area High School
Class of 1971
Chart Toppers - The WHS Years
From our first day at Wilson High as 7th Graders in September, 1965, to our graduation in June, 1971, there were 118 songs that reached the Number One spot on Billboard Magazine's Weekly Hot 100 ranking of popular songs. Thanks to the internet, and You Tube in particular, we can now easily relive that golden era of pop, rock and soul - not only the songs themselves, but also (in many cases) videos of live performances by the singers and groups that recorded them. Here, in chronological order and grouped by season, are the "Chart Toppers" from our first year - to be followed eventually by the rest of the 118. |

Of course, these are a great representation, but merely a cross-section, of the thousands of recordings that charted at some level during these six years - not to forget all those songs on albums that were never released as singles. Indeed, five Beatles albums, including the classic "White Album" had no singles released.
