
Alice (Bimler) Chambers
June 10, 1952 - August 29, 2015
Alice L. Chambers, 63, of Palmyra passed away at her home on Saturday August 29, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Walter Chambers.
Born in Bethlehem on June 10, 1952 she is the daughter of Emily L. Shaak of Palmyra and the late Carrol D. Bimler. Alice spent her early years in eastern Pennsylvania and graduated from Easton High School. She enjoyed a 22 year career as a Certified Nursing Assistant working at Country Meadows, Hershey. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Palmyra.
Alice's family would like to thank the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, and the entire staff of the SICU unit at the Hershey Medical Center for the professional and compassionate care they provided during Alice's seven month battle with cancer. Alice's family and her countless number of friends will forever remember her wonderful smile, positive attitude, kind manner and the loving warmth she radiated to everyone that she encountered. She cared deeply for her extended "family" at Country Meadows where she treated her fellow employees and the residents with warm care and compassion. Alice's many interests included Penn State football, reading Stephen King, James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark novels, collecting all things clown related and spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter Barbara Chambers and fiancé Keith Bowers of Marietta, step sons Michael Chambers, wife Vicki of Camp Hill and Christopher Chambers, wife Kelli of Hummelstown, step-daughter Michelle Webber, husband Darryl of Palmyra, brothers Richard Bimler and wife Bonnie of Sanford, NC and David Bimler and wife Shelly of Harrisburg, two sisters Mary Walker of Richmond, VA and Rose, wife of David Santeusanio of Hummelstown, nine step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, and the many nieces and nephews she greatly adored, in addition to her beloved pet Zoey the wonder cat. She was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Bimler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit 245 W. Pine St. Palmyra, PA 17078. Interment will immediately follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory 618 E. Main St. Annville, PA 17003. There will be no viewing on Thursday before the service. Alice's favorite color was purple and the family wishes to honor her by asking that everyone wears purple for the services.
