Principal’s Message for all Stake holders during Lockdown Covid -19 Dear Parents, teachers, students and Xaverians, First of all, warm greetings to all of you from the school. All of us are going through a very critical and tough times. Some or the other way, each one of us is affected by the coronavirus directly and indirectly. Our families, communities and our economy, our entire way of life are adversely affected by it. In these difficult and anxious times I want to tell you that we, Jesuits of Hazaribagh, are concerned about the health and safety of our students, teachers, the staff and their families and friends. We express our solidarity with you and your families and we are praying for your safety and health. Dear parents, as you know, the government announced the nation-wide lockdown we had to close down the school but continued to teach our students through online classes. It was not so easy again to go back to the online classes. You are our major stake holders. You are our partners to run the school smoothly. I appreciate your co-operation, kindness and flexibility, and feedbacks. Last year, some of you had not taken the online classes seriously but now we observe that there is a tremendous seriousness among all. Students are very regular, punctual, active, alive and responding well in the classes. We are aware that in many families, parents and students are affected by the corona and having positive. Many of you are isolated in the family itself and children are struggling to take care. Thanks to the parents who trusted on us and reported us on time through the applications/e-mails which helped us to understand your situation and to be sympathetic towards your children. Whenever due to unavoidable reasons, we adjusted the time and classes, you happily accepted them. Thanks to you all. Also Xavier school family expresses its condolence to all our stake holders who lost their family members during this corona period. I request you to keep your wards at home. You are advised to ensure that your wards revise their courses for the tests, assessments and exams during holidays. You must admire our teachers also who have been working tirelessly so that our students are not deprived of online classes. Their service is commendable. To your surprise, during these two months, so many teachers were also affected by corona. Even having tested positive, forgetting their comforts, they continued teaching till they were unable to speak. Aren’t they corona warriors for you? It was a very sad news for the Xavier school family when two of our teachers Ms Nirmala and Ms Sosan lost their husbands. In such situations, other teachers generously rendered their services happily so that academic work does not suffer. My dear students, I want all of you to be optimistic at this crucial time. Let us be confident that things will come out to be all good. Continue to pray for HOPE. Students, keeping in mind your health and wellbeing, I request you not to risk your lives unnecessarily. Stay home. Stay safe. This is also an opportunity for you to be aware and discover the best of yourselves. Engage yourselves in reading and learning new things like, gardening, music, singing, dancing, yoga, etc. Fill yourselves with solid positive attitudes to be men and women for and with others leading a life of patience, empathy and compassion. I hope you will be able to enjoy a break together as a family during this summer holidays.
Finally, for everybody, I say, Keep yourselves fit physically, mentally, spiritually and psychologically! We will certainly come out of this situation. You just need to take all necessary precautions and don’t go out anywhere. Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Safe. May Good Lord bless and protect all of us. Principal (Fr. Rosner Xalxo SJ) |

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GOOGLE MEET CLASSES (FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY)
|
Dear Parents, I trust you and your loved ones are in great health and coping up with such an unprecedented situation owing to Pandemic COVID-19. Life is different from usual and this I believe is the new normal for the time being. I am sure each of your wards has started learning on an online platform and this is the best we can do right now considering our own health and safety. Let us hope that a vaccine is out soon and we start living normally. Well, in past few months, I am sure you all must be reading or hearing against the School on some of the decisions taken by the School prior to Lockdown owing to COVID-19. I feel it is my duty to inform you all the real situation the school is facing and assure you that all appropriate measures will be taken for the good of the school and your wards. If you would recall, the results of the School were declared on 14th March, 2020 and you were requested to write to me before 19th March, 2020 in the event you have any queries or issues. However, a few of you, 26 in total, chose to speak only after 2 months and not to the school but to the social media, local political leaders and to the administration. You chose to take advantage of COVID-19 for the academic year which was prior to COVID-19. Please be informed the decisions are not taken overnight by the School and lots of careful thoughts and observations are involved while taking any decision. I am also sure that you would appreciate the fact that I am always available for meeting or discussion. Please note, we usually communicate with each other through your wards School Diary or emails on the official ID of the School. We have never entertained anything on the social media platform and will never entertain in future also. For us, discipline and rules are important and this is what we strive for. In the past few days, I have been facing lot of pressure from a few parents, the local administration and some people from political parties, having no connection with the school, for the reasons best known to them. Till date we are strong with all your blessings and good wishes and will remain like this in future. Considering COVID-19 and since the local administration requested the school to reconsider all the cases which came to them, the school has re-assessed all those cases and has decided to promote16 students in the next class and conduct re-test only for the students of Class IX as per the instruction received from the CBSE. The School has also decided to offer TC to only 6 students who have grave disciplinary problems. The school sincerely believes that this school is not the right place for these students for their own wellbeing and the best interest of the school at large. I am hopeful that a change of atmosphere might bring the best out of these students. Let me remind you all that the School is one of the oldest and prestigious institutions in this part of the country and takes pride in its successful alumni across globe. The School with its professionally trained and carefully selected teachers strives for perfection. Our old students are able to take their place in the highest profession and technical circles across the world.
Now to our shock and horror we have been asked to peremptorily take back the students irrespective of the nature and extent of the acts of indiscipline which they had committed without any care or fear. On the other hand as against 6 such number of students we have about 2600 students whose welfare is of primary consideration not only for the parents but for our institution. it is our duty to prevent them from exercising an influence on the development and education of majority. Unfortunately, we are being strongly urged by the DSE office, Hazaribagh, to take back those 6 students and such order has been passed without consideration of the larger interest of the vast majority of students and without considering the importance of discipline and integrity in any educational institution. Under these circumstances we are unable to assure ourselves that we will be able to maintain the high standards of discipline and quality in the school. In such a situation, we request for your valuable opinion and advice regarding the course of action to be adopted including whether we should contemplate on the advisability of closing down the school. (Write in the school e-mail: sxshzb@gmail.com) Thank you once again for your constant support and well wishes. God bless you all. Principal Fr. Rosner Xalxo S.J. |

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE TO THE PARENTS Dear parents/Guardians, I am a bit hesitant to write now what is going in my mind and to take steps. But your co-operation and trust strengthens me to do this. Please take time and read it. Today we are having a time of crisis, a tough time in human history where the coronavirus (COVID-19) has made every people worried, unsure as how to act and often undetermined by fear. We have examples of people behaving irresponsibly in panic buying and hording, ignoring social distancing guidelines. However, we also have examples of heroism like good will, solidarity and courage. Our human life is confused. Schools, offices, transports, daily activities of lives have stopped functioning fully. All families are inside the house. Teachers and students are behind the closed doors for almost 15 days and this situation is not going to change for next 1-2 months most probably. Once the students are back to school they will have no time and days to learn one year of course books. It would be another tough testing time for the students, the school and the parents. So, at this time of crisis how can we help our children to engage in learning? We know our students are the best. But how do we get the best out of them? It is a real challenge for us. We want to ensure by all means that our children learn and achieve success across all areas even at this time of difficulties when they are behind the closed doors. So, the school and the teaching team have come up with the plan to reach out to our students through a new approach to teaching and learning. It may not be the best one. We are not introducing any new App. You do not have to download any App for this. It will be a simple approach. We will make use of our SCHOOL WEBSITE. Firstly, you open our school website. There will be files, class and section wise. Within these files there will be questionnaire subject wise, from the prescribed text book, from the first chapter. You open these files for your children according to your ward’s class and section wise and let one go through them. We expect that our children will have first self -study of these first chapters and then they will solve the questions given to them in their note copies. We are sure, from this new method, our students will benefit and excel in their educational thinking and practices. Dear parents, I have one more request from you. It is certainly a tough time for all of us. Coronavirus has taken a lot of time from us. But if we think positively, it has really given us opportunity to come together as one family, to live and share-care together, to work and enjoy together, to learn and understand together, to help and grow together, to laugh and cry together. So, I ask you never feel hesitant to teach your children at home, the simple household works of our daily life, like cleaning rooms and arranging beds, cleaning toilets, collecting water, washing clothes, cleaning plates after eating, etc. Believe, these will bring great transformation in their lives. May Almighty God take care of all our families! Principal Fr. Rosner Xalxo SJ SXS, Hazaribag, |

We expect that you will have first self -study of these first chapters and then you will solve the questions given to you in your note copies. We are sure, from this new method, you will benefit and excel in your educational thinking and practices. Develop your self-study habit. Dear students, one more request from you that during this difficult time it is important to continue looking after your physical and mental health. Do exercise and physical activities every day to increase your immune system. Even if you are behind the closed doors, find time for exercises. You can dance to music, do some yoga or walk up and down the stairs. Keep a safe distance from others if you are in public places. Look after your mental health. It is normal to feel stressed, confused and scared during the crisis. Talk to your father, mother, grandparents, brothers and sisters. Lend your helping hand to one another with family members in simple works like cleaning rooms and arranging beds, cleaning toilets, collecting water, washing clothes, cleaning plates after eating, etc. Nature has provided you great opportunity to be with your family, with father, mother, brothers and sisters. Happily you live together, work together, share and care together, learn together and grow together. I am sure, if you do that, your lives will be fully transformed.
May Almighty God bless you! Principal Fr. Rosner Xalxo SJ SXS, Hazaribag,

Dear Parents/Guardians, In order to equip our children with essential life skills which are needed to live a fulfilling life, we must expose them to the right kind of learning. Keeping in view,we had introduced an iSmart Programme Conducted by Quality Education Asia, a group based in Noida, U.P. The curriculum was designed for students between classes V-XII, on the guidelines of UNICEF and National Curriculum Framework 2005. iSmart Program catered teachers and parents to make the relation and understanding better between Students- Teachers – Parents. This course we are going to stop now. The above programme will be conducted in different ways like parents’ meeting/ Seminars/ inputs. We will be taking it up for the parents/guardians of the students of all the sections from Classes prep – XII. For this program extra Rs. 200/- will be charged from classes Prep- XII. It will be added with Junefee excluding classes prep and XI who will pay in July. Mindspark e-learning programme in Mathematics was introduced to Std. III-VII in the academic year 2015-16. The feedback from the vast majority of the students, perceptive and critical parents and the teachers have been overwhelmingly positive. With the concurrence of the Parents’ Consultative Committee (PCC) we have decided to continue with this programme to Classes III-VIII in 2019-20. Mindspark cannot be optional as two of the regular Mathematics classes will be held in the Computer Lab to access it. Educational Initiatives will offer it to us at a much discounted annual cost of ₹ 2000 per student provided we pay the entire amount in advance (with April fee).We are discontinuing the ASSET this year too. The school provides group insurance to all students and teachers against accidents through HDFC Ergo. The premium of Rs. 175/- for a coverage of a maximum of Rs. 3,00,000 is paid at the beginning of the academic yearin April. The details of the new fees structure will be available in the School Diary for 2019-20. Std. VIII students are expected to make a Security Deposit of Rs. 5000/- in the month of April. This amount after deductions, if any required, is refundable with simple interest at savings bank rates applicable when the student leaves the school. Our Xaverian education besides academic stresses on value education, therefore, it is mandatory to buy prescribed Moral Value books in the school for classes I to X. Buy appropriate school uniform (Normal & Games) from right place to avoid any kind of discrepancy. Fees should be deposited in Axis Bank, Hazaribag Branch only. In 2019 -20 the option for paying in any other bank will be unavailable. All parents/ guardians will be issued a booklet of the paying in slip of Axis Bank. Please read the diary for more instructions regarding the fee payment options. Also there will be an orientation for the parents on fee payments later by the representatives from Axis Bank.
Please note that all the payments are mandatory. I request you to remit the sumas applicable to your ward within the month of April/ June/ July. Parents who foresee difficulty are requested to seek the Principal’s permission for delayed payment. Students will be required to clear all dues upto March, excluding any concession granted in writing by the Principal, before taking the annual report cards in March. Looking forward to your understanding and cooperation.
Note: Prep fee has covered up to June month. Prep parents will pay fee from July, 2019 onwards. Yours Truly Fr. Rosner Xalxo, S.J. Principal 09/03/2019 |
